I don’t cry when I hear Elton John version but Billy Joel's songs helped me through the roughest times as a teen. When I heard this cover I was sobbing, bless your amazing song Elton and your moving singing Billy.
I saw the Face to Face tour in Sydney Australia. Billy did Candle in the Wind & Elton did Uptown Girl. Of the two of them doing a song that the other person is known for, I preferred Billy.
Its because it reminds him of Princess Diana when she died. He performed it for her at her funeral. And the difference is Elton did know Diana because they weren't kids, and he watched her candle burn out
@@BenjiDarius he actually does still perform this, he did at the 2019 concert in Pittsburgh. He won’t do the 1997 version of princess Diana, he does the original 1973 version based on Marylyn Monroe.
@@BenjiDarius I heard he only did the Princess Diana version 3 times. Once for rehearsal, once for the live performance during her funeral and once for a studio recording.
Nasty Hardcore I'm not so sure they yes they have different styles and from a listening yes billy because he uses a 5 fingered fast paced method that works great with a backing band but eltons rhythmic method works great as a solo or with a backing band so overall I give it to elton because he does better solo

You are The Greatest
The way Billy Joel sang this song is magnificent. Thank you Billy.
RIP Norma Jeane. Your art, talent, humanity beauty will shine on forever.
I saw the stage in Osaka, Japan. Wonderful!!💝🪔
Awesome Job 🤍🤍
This a great version of this song, love it.
Great performance - lovely guitar work as well.
Some of his best work. Both of them.
Billy Joel. The American answer to Sir Paul.
The back up vocals are from space. Well done
Great version
Great vocals especially how he switches octaves.
love love love this
I love Billy and Elton, but Elton doesn’t justify playing Billy’s songs as well as Billy did here.

It was after the diana version he said he didnt want to play it anymore.
I wonder why Elton doesn't want to play this anymore... Billy does a great job though.
@Jona Tripoli absolutely

새앨범 언제 나오나요
I would like Elton John to sing this song in tribute to Robin Williams
Whatever!

Notice that Elton gets up and leave in the begging and isn't even sitting there.
Billy is more akilled at piano than elton john. Though elton has more of a knack for good melodies
