- Landslide Lake & Berg Lake are two of the most beautiful lakes on Vancouver Island! One is a stunning emerald green colour, and the other is bright blue with icebergs floating on it's surface. (in early summer)
Lucky for us, they are both located quite close to each other along the Elk River Trail in Strathcona Provincial Park - making this one of the BEST hikes on Vancouver Island, BC! Bonus points, it's dog friendly.
This is a LONG hike though - so make sure you have the right gear, permits, and always practice Leave No Trace principals! I will link a few of my backpacking gear videos and info on LNT below.

The colours of these lakes are INCREDIBLE! Which one was your favourite?!
The sun came out of my throat, as I understand it, by lunchtime and the lake changed its morning icy hue to a colorful azure daytime one. I like this color more, but in general this lake is beautiful in any transformation.ðð
I think the blue one is my favourite too!
I have laid feet where you have laid feet; thank you for rekindling such warm memories of my time there.
How wonderful it is to see you enjoy natureâĪ
I am so happy these vlogs are a regular thing, they always cheer me up and inspire me! This hike is definitely going on the wish list it was so beautiful and the lens cap transition was so cool. Also glad to see Alex back!
Iâm so happy that you are enjoying them! Iâm going to switch my upload schedule to every other week for now. I finished all the vlogs that I had filmed already. Time to make some new content! ð
Awesome vidâĶ thanks for the info and the adventure. ð
Greatly enjoyed you two ladies doing the hike to the lakes. Cheers fro the Sunshine Coast.

Welcome to BC! Thank so much for watching ð
I can imagine the hike back missing a toenail is a definite 'do not recommend'. Beautiful hike!
Lol it was brutal. But we bandaged it up pretty good.
ðððincredibly beautiful! The lake is beautiful at any time of the day. This time you had the company of a dog and a friend. Pretty you trampled a minibusð. Good videoð. If only I could still understand the whole comment along the entire route, it would be wonderful in general. Near the ice, the water is not iceðĨķ. Cool videos you post ðððI wish I had my own translator tooðĪĢ.âĪâĪâĪ

You must come to Patagonia or Chile some day! We have amazing hikes
I definitely will!
I did this hike round trip in 11 hours to inspect all the footbridges on the trails.
Someoneâs gotta do it! ð
Fantastic video ! We are just about to move to bc from alberta and are still trying to figure out how the camping reservation system works. Can you please guide us on which camp sites need reservation and which dont.
I use Google to search for trail and camping h regulations when I want to go to a certain area. The app AllTrails is also really helpful
Iâm very interested in backpacking and camping/hiking but I feel like I should get in shape first and definitely get familiar with the gears, food, clothing, etc first as well. I would be a beginner for real.
Yes itâs good to do some research and stay in shape
Loved the video! Iâm curious how long it took to go from the parking lot to the first and second campsites. Iâm trying to plan out my trip so any help is appreciated! Thanks!
The first kilometre is a bunch of switchbacks and elevation gain but it's not too bad, the rest of the way to either campsites is fairly easy but lots of roots and ankle twisting rocks so watch your step, probably 2.5-3hrs to the farthest camp. The tough part by far is the last leg up to the lakes, unfortunately you can't camp up there but it's just as well since it would get destroyed pretty quick, but absolutely worth the hike, I'd even say it's my all-time favourite... and I'm an avid hiker/explorer.
Thanks for answering this for me! Sorry about the late reply ð
2:02 Iâve never seen a map with N at the bottom ð
Hi Nina, i like your videos!
Which hike, for a one day hike is better, Bedwell lake or Landslide lake? You had made both.
Do you think this hike was a little bit boring, while you walked the trail ?
My wife and i from germany, and may be we make one of these hikes in two months.
Thank you for your videos!âĪ
For a day hike I would recommend Bedwell Lake since it is a bit shorter than Landslide, but both can be done as a day hike if you start early enough. I didnât find either one boring. Both trails are mostly in a beautiful forest!
Thank you Nina, we hike one of both.
We decide it, when we are in the Strathcona Provinical Park (Buttle Lake Campground and Quinsam River Campground) which one we hike.âĪð
