Thank you for this! 2 years ago I had surgery and was super depressed I stopped working out and gained back 40 of the 65 pounds I lost the prior year. But even though I’m injury free now, this video shows how having a positive mindset will always be beneficial to athletes. Thank you for letting us see your progress (we harassed you enough lol)
I love that you’re not taking any time off after surgery and you’re not using your injury as an excuse not to pay the man daily... a lot of ppl will use that as a reason to sit back and relax, watch TV and veg out. Love the mentality of Navy SEALs... they operate on a different set of rules and expectations than most of the world around them.
Not letting a little thing like knee surgery stop ya! Seriously, such an inspiration, Josh. Thanks for this. I wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing more. #PayTheMan
Can totally relate. I’m 2 years out of a total knee replacement. I competed in my first ever powerlifting meet last week. Got some PRs but most importantly I got a legit squat. Totally made my whole experience worth it. Thanks for pushing this type of content. Thank you for your service warrior
Josh, been watching since ep01, mate this content is outstanding. I was injured during pre deployment 8 weeks in a cast and on crutches, was Over it by day one but you learn to adapt, Learn new skills and be thankful for your fellow soldiers& mates who support you. Thanks mate all the way from Australia 🇦🇺 and don't forget to #pay the man.
Josh, thanks for sharing the positive mindset and showing your dedication. It's definitely is inspiring. Question: Did you ever share out a Spotify playlist, and if not, would you mind putting something together?
This was mega inspirational. A huge thank you. I love your mindset. Specially the don't be a soft target and no one owes you anything. I hope your recovery will go perfect.
Nearly 30 years after a childhood accident, I'm finally focusing on correcting mobility and balancing strength. I'm sorry you went through the surgery, but I'm really eager to seethe strength rehab. Thanks for putting out the videos and helping all of us.
was doing a workout today , devil presses , db clusters, hang power clean and rowing between sets, my mind said no more , and from no where a pay the man ! came out get them db up ! bro your are a hero for lots of crossfiters, hope you get a soon recovery , from spain #paytheman
The 4 dislikes (or what ever it is) are a miss-click. Keep up the good work. Injuries are step back and a step back, but your for sure taking the steps forward.
If this isn't motivating and inspiring, then I don't know what is!? You're a beast! Wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing your recovery journey. Hope to see more day in the life episodes....Josh for president!!! Cheers from SoCal USA!
I had a high tibial osteotomy in Sept. 2018. Mostly I consider myself a runner / marathoner but use CrossFit to get all around balance. I am 6 months out and finally running again. Love seeing you getting after it so soon after surgery. Dealing with IT issues now because of how my knee is realigned. Looking forward to watching your journey back!
You should go on Jockos podcast... I just listened to the one he did with JP Dinnell and it was incredible... would love to hear more about your time in the SEALs... it pays to be a winner!
Payed the man extra and told him to keep the change. Right on. I see you still look/feel strong. Hope all goes well in recovery. And more important than a speedy recovery I hope it's a good one and no more needs to be done. The best to you Mr. BRIDGES. P.s. that head and tails banter love it. Please don't ever let him forget it. Maybe frame the phrase in a wall. Haha
Josh here’s to your speedy recovery! I am not surprised you are not using this as an excuse to stop training . Certainly not gonna let my cranky old knees slow me down. Thank you for the content sir!
2 days out from ACL surgery. Love watching this because I’m ready to get after it too! Trying to let it heal but still get in some kind of upper body / cardio training. I appreciate you making these videos!
Hi from Australia I have had 4 left knee acl reconstructions from a past life as an athlete and after my last one in 2017 was told I was going to need the exact operation you just had and to also stop doing everything except yoga , swimming and bike riding. And I’m a personal trainer and live in the gym! I’ve rehabbed to a point where I am more mobile at 40 than I ever have Been and almost hitting all time strength pr’s 18 months post op. Have been told I’ll need the tibial op and was uncertain about my fitness future but watching this and hearing your approach gives me hope! YOUR AN INSPIRATION. THANK YOU for letting us in and I look forward to following your progress... good luck my friend!
I feel kinda silly saying this to a man with your resume but here goes: be careful! Being patient while you heal is just a different form of gut check.
"You look like an animal!" Awesome work Josh, please be careful my good dude. That new rack is awesome and I'm glad you're getting mobility back. Pay the man bro, pay the man.
Thanks for the video brother! I love being able to take in energy from people with this kind of mindset. I trained through ruptured Achilles tendon surgery - crunching around the gym 7 days a week for 6 months. Warriors don’t slow down. God bless you and your boys.
Great workout Josh and thanks for sharing mate! I’ve had four acl surgery’s on both knees over the years since I was a teenager in the 80’s and just last year I had a clean out on my knee which set me back 6 months because of the arthritis and just the damage I’ve done over the years! Now since discovering CrossFit I’ve adopted more of what you guys do and my legs haven’t felt stronger but I’m careful at it and obviously the weight bearing .... I so needed this last year to get me off the couch and out of a pretty depressing state of mind ! So watching this has been great to see what you can do and you blokes are so positive it’s great 👍🏼 cheers
Hah, I remember I had a bad cold last week but I've watched your videos knowing I'll be better very soon, not to feel sorry for myself. Now I can't wait training every day. Have a speedy recovery!
Josh, such a huge drive for me. Love your mentality talks more then anything. Thanks so much for your consistency. You’re making an impact on me; for training and for mental gains. Much love man.
Wish you the best with the recovery. My wife’s had the same (Fulkerson) osteonomy on both knees. She’s fully recovered from both, full range of motion, etc. It’s a long recovery but totally doable.
Yes! So glad you made this and see what you do in PT. Just had acl surgery 3 months ago and being really careful while moving. So I’ll be watching! Great motivation.
DAMN this is super inspirational, keep at it, its great to see that youre tough to beat mentally, you can see the effect on your body from the surgery, like the fatigue and you still push through, one of the best episodes by far, and im glad i bough your programme makes me want to push to do the competiton workouts even more
Shout out from aircrew deployed in Okinawa. I was in the stands with my training partner whose also navy when you won Murph in Carson. Bring it home for the navy.

Big time! Did my first workouts post ACL surgery this week. Echo bike intervals, bench press, and strict pull ups! Felt good to sweat again! Keep it up...
SO awesome Josh, I'm 9 weeks post shoulder surgey and haven't stopped working out either. My moto.. do what you can.. one of the guys in your video looks familiar, does he have a cousin in Santa Cruz, CA. I think he worked out at Crossfit West back in January.
Super inspiring. I remember when I fractured my ankle I started learning gymnastics on rings, p bars, and high bar. Definitely valuable, there's always a way to improve.
You are in my eyes the most toughest, and determined guy what i've ever seen ! Stay always like that ! I think after this video, i givin' to more power in my trainings ! Have a nice day Josh ! :)
I took the same approach as you after my back surgery. (L5,S1 fusion) They said my goal was to walk a mile 2 weeks after surgery. I walked 1 mile less than 24hrs after. I was walking 3 miles at the end of a week. I felt most of the way better at 7 weeks (12-16 week suggested recovery). I feel moving is the key. Even it's just a little.
Your an amazing inspiration sir. Wish you a full recovery and a more bad ass version of yourself. Dealing with a scaphoid lunate injury in my wrist and contemplating surgery....hopefully it will help with the pain but I will have a loss of mobility in my wrist....I can relate to how challenging this must be for you Josh.

Another awesome video JB, really enjoying the content. I’m injured at the moment too and it’s inspiring to see your attitude towards it, keep up the good work and good luck in the rehab!
Hey man, I'm PT and I absolutely agree with you. Post surgery rehab is a matter of passing through all the stages of the process of rehabilitation smartly. Doing the things right, giving to your knee the type of movements or contraccions that needs in every stage and respecting the rests times, t's hard to have a bad recovery. So you'll succeed and come back stronger. If you want, you can send a DM and I can help you giving some opinions and helping to find evidenced base information about protocols and all that stuff. #paytheman
Great job Josh! Love the creative and no limits mentality👏. Recovery workouts sound great, and I'd also be interested to learn more about your warm up and stretching routine👌😊
