If you've been watching this channel for a while now this is probably the last hike you'd expect to see me on, a well worn track that receives thousands of visitors per year. However! As I saw in the news recently some unfortunate South Australians had been removed from some major Tasmanian hikes due to covid19 security issues, and I manages to find a spot in the hectic overland booking system that had become open the coming weekend. After checking the forecast I figured I better jump at this.. Is it even possible in a weekend... I thought?

Hey I hope you all enjoy this one, Its been my most requested video for a while now. It took 9 days to shoot and edit while working full time, but I know you guys get hungry so I gotta feed! I'm working on a Christmas video and I thought it could be fun to do a Q&A while I'm at it. It can be anything you can think of, how much my new front teeth cost? how many children I have? (None, that I know of😂) Email your questions to staywildtas@gmail.com over the next two weeks, along with what Town and State you're from. I will try to answer all the questions as I show you a heap of random bits and pieces that never made it into any video, also fun facts that are in videos that You wouldn’t know about. Peace!
I love it, great feeling, sub'd.
Great video Rob, absolutely awesome work. Those views are awesome and that scrub n bush, got me homesick to be honest. I grew up in Queenie and after seeing all that makes me wonder why I left that great state. Have only just came across your channel, and been loving watching your adventures. Hopefully the parks and wildlife get themselves together and let you and Levi do the fantastic work you both do so the rest of the world can see this beautiful state and also learn to respect the beautiful surroundings and environment whilst also enjoying it, as you do👌
You’ve set a high standard with your videos in past but I think you just raised the bar again brother 👌🏼 was perfect so good well done my new favourite.
That means a lot thanks homie!
I did the Overland in 48 hours some years back, but I didn't pause to photograph it as beautifully as you did. Well done
It's a wicked area hey.
Definitely one of my favourites from your collection. The shots of the flora in bloom were an outstanding touch alongside the usual scenic wonderment.
It’s all Beautiful scenery again! Love it!👧❤️
Bloody hell, that was epic! It's hard to believe you could get such great footage when you were 'motoring'. We got everything from sunshine to rain, wind and snow years ago when we walked it. One hell of a hike!
So glad you enjoyed it lad. I’m well practiced on the art of run and gun filming so I love doing these types of videos. Thanks for the comment!
Brilliant Rob, brilliant......and the intro with geology, ice age, indigenous and colonisation.....ABSOLUTELY STANDOUT.
Congrats.
Thank you so much ☺️
Amazing scenery 💚 thanks for sharing
Great vids Rob
Old hikers trick for the wet boots in the morning
Put plastic bags on your feet socks over top then boots on
Feet will be dry an warm..boots will dry out quicker
Keep up the great vids mate....loving it
Cheers
Tom
Blown away by these video's. Rob = Surely one of the leading modern age Aussie bushmen. Oh 6.26 - Mangy Fox, Feral Cat, Thyla? Lol.
Oh Wow!! Thank you for taking me along with you to see such beautiful scenery and wild life. Can't wait for your next adventure.
So good I’ll be watching this again tonight
Wow!! You have captured the beauty of the Overland Track to inspire others to get out there and enjoy Tassie,s natural wonders.
Thankyou Rob.
Thanks Micheal It's a very beautiful track with plenty of amazing scenery I'm Glad you think I did it justice. Cheers.
Beautiful place. And the music ❤️
Well done, thanks for making this. Still one of my favorite place on Earth (that I have seen). This helps me to fight loneliness in confinement here in Brussels.
So stoked to hear that it’s helping you! Hopefully this virus will be gone soon and things can return to normal for your beautiful country!
6:26 What’s walking across the track? Cat? Can’t be a fox.
Absolutely stunning 😊 the positive impact you can have on another person is incredible. Cradle Mountain is a stunning place. I once tumbled 100 metres down the side of Cradle Mountain in the snow and managed to get most of it on camera lol 😆😆😆. Your videos help, they really help a lot 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍
I’m so pleased to hear that Tony. I’ll keep making them so long as you keep commenting!
Absolutely. I look forward to each and every video. 😃😃😃👍👍👍
Thanks for taking me on that trek with you.......another stunner Rob
I love your lead up to how you say you have to be back at work Monday...Really drew me into a great video...thankyou
Loved the music in the video. Thank you for sharing an awesome video, of a beautiful place, that many of us will most likely never get to visit. Amazing that you did it in 2 days, as well.
Epic, very high quality production whilst having to cover a good distance. Well worth the effort, great work. I hope you can do it again and relax and explore surrounding options. How good was that weather!
For such a short trip you got spectacular footage, thanks for sharing
One of the best vids of the Overland that I’ve ever seen! Fabulous imagery. Thanks for your efforts.
Thank you!🥰🥰
I love sharing in your adventures through the media you produce. This one has the most picturesque shots of all. Awesome work!!!
Cradle is one of our favourite spots, particularly ANZAC long weekend, when the Fagus starts to change.
Thanks Rob, I’ve got Cradle Cravings now.
Awesome video... 48hrs you are a legend!
Any person who is not super fit or super lucky with the weather SHOULD definitely plan to take up to 6 days to do this track.. Even in the middle of summer you can get unexpected Snow or blizzard conditions. Do not take it lightly!!
Yep ive been up there in my shorts & singlet in January & got about 4" of snow.
I have two words for this video - absolutely beautiful.
Absolutely stunning scenery Rob,thanks for sharing, especially for us who can no longer venture out in this beautiful land, well done
Awesome video there Rob.!!
You definitely got an eye for cinematography and letting the world see the awesome place we have here bro!!
!! StyWld !! 🌿🐅
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing this
Wow that was epic - we just visited cradle mountain & lake St Claire. We are now interested in doing this track, amazing you did it over a weekend. Thanks for the education 👍
Epic Rob, just epic. Im impressed that not only did you do the OT in the short time frame available to you but you were able to capture footage and put together this video. While also taking.time for swimming and climbing Mt Ossa. I'm so excited I get to do this trip next April!
Oh thank you so much! Enjoy your trip in April 😍
Great video Rob and good work on the distance. The scenery is a bit different to the UK hikes I’m used to. I’ll definitely have to plan a trip to that track one day though! Thanks for sharing.
Two days, and Mt Ossa, OMG, how? Back in 2012 my group took six days including topping out on Cradle, Ossa and Barn Bluff, (but we did go around the lake at the end). Fantastic effort, love your stuff.
awesome video, Rob! beautiful country and well presented 👍🏻
You hit the ball out of the park on this one Rob, great shots and very inspiring intro brov, got me from the go. As an illustrator my motto is that presentation is 99% of everything and you nailed it Rob, keep up the fantastic work mate, loved it, even on the fly !
My man. Cheers!
I remember that bus driver. He was so funny!
Awesome again Rob! You’re a machine, loved the casual Ossa side trip thrown in and the sneaky 🐅🤣
New tent?
Great video. It's amazing what can be achieved given a goal.
Keep pushing what's possible, love the videos.
Yep new tent! I had to upgrade for Jane mission. Love it! Thank you! 😊
@@Rob.Parsons I got myself a Mont Moondance, Doing Wilson Prom In Vic and then heading to Frenchmans Cap Late Jan.
Have you ever considered going over the back route past Frenchmans Cap and then pack Raft down the Flinders. To be honest, Im not sure which way the river flows?
Fantastic mate, make sure that cat 🐈 leaves the park for good 😉. I hope you actually enjoyed pushing your self through the best sightseeing in Tassie.
Thanks Peter. I had a great weekend actually! The walk is quite flat so it wasn’t too exhausting.. maybe I’ve spend too much time bush bashing!
What a beautiful place!
Awesome footage! Tassie is stunning. Looking at doing Du Cane in January. Can’t wait to escape the QLD heat.
Terrific photography, great video!
Great video again Rob. Just one small point though. The dolerite in Tasmania is Jurassic. It formed 65 million years ago when Tasmania seperated from Antarctica.
You can make a great video rob, I think this one is your best. You really showcase Tasmania.
Wow that means a lot thanks 🤩
Awesome vid Rob. I’m doing the overland over New Years. Can’t wait!
Epic!
Stunning.
Cheers colin 😊
Fantastic , I loved this video , Brought back memories from when I completed the track a few years back. Well done .
The best footage that I have seen of the overland track, well done Rob
Wow! I’m honoured, thank you!😍
Brought back great memories and it's now making me want to go again! Thank you
Awesome thank you!
Beautiful !
What a great video the part of the world you live in is truly beautiful
That's some wicked old geology way up there, awesome footage buddy.
Awesome video mate makes me want to set out on a hike tmrw.
Brilliant video. Love your work Rob. Looking forward to the Christmas one.
Another great vid Rob, that's a stellar effort for a weekend walk!
lucky weather! Great video
18 kms in 3 minutes on the final day. Impressive!
Great vid, homie.
I love Tasmania and your film, now I'm stuck in Austria for a while.
Without doubt, one of the best TH-camrs around.
Thanks Matt!
Brilliant mate it really is an ancient world up there ,bet the knees are sore from 2days of pushing. awsome Edit cheers
Great time of year for a trekking adventure, awesome video 👍
Cheers man!
Love that area, actually going there for Easter this year and planning on redoing the overland again in 2024.
Sounds great mate I hope you love it
@@Rob.Parsons Great video by the way and to do it in a weekend, just amazing. Not surprised about the cat, there is an urban legend about wild dogs in the Walls of Jerusalem.
Another great video . Now for walking on the Old Port Davey Track ;)
Incredible you did that hike in 45 hrs, great looking vid too, nice editing too!
Brilliant 👏💚
Superb, brought back lots of memories, makes me want to walk it again! Great music btw!!
Thank you 😊
Awesome stuff Rob. Great camera work.
Awesome vid mate, great footage, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful state!
Just found and subbed. I look forward to more of your content.
Stunning mate!!!!!!
Another amazing jaunt!!! The weather was pretty kind? I really appreciate your Adventures, I've been disabled this year and can barely walk around my property let alone go down to the beach or shopping (!!) or even imagine something like The Overland Track, so it's brilliant to be able to tag along and see all the amazing scenery from my chair! And some glimpses of wild things - but was that a fox? And some of the hoppy things were rather stout - I wonder if they are used to titbits? Very enjoyable, Rob, thanks a lot - another one to share! Some of the trees are quite wonderous. Keep safe, the weather's pretty $%#@ at the mo! Sept '21!
Awesome work Rob. You’ve got a way with that camera mate. Great video!
Another awesome informative video mate , I look forward to each one of your presentations. Keep up the great work
Great video Rob. Not something i'd like to tackle in 48hrs though. Well done
That's an epic trip. Fastest I've done it (without the ferry) was 4 days. Age 52.. 2 days? That's nutz.
Great video mate, you had perfect weather for it! I did it about a week after you and had shocking weather
Wow! Just wow!
😍😍😍
hey that was absolutely stunning bro, the photography was bloody awesome, I'm wondering if because you of
Nice work mate. You've been doing fairly well with the weather on the last few adventures. I'm keen to head down and put some k's under the hiking boots and need to sort myself out before the world is allowed to invade our amazing country again.Guarantee it'll rain and snow for whichever dates I lock in :)
Haha nah just pray to the weather gods, I think this track would be quite amazing in all weather anyway, except the mt ossa part 😂😂
Awesome video mate!
Hey Rob. If you're wanting to do this hike again and take more time, I know of a spare ticket for an April 1 departure
awesome effort as usual Rob, hey was that a friggin' cat at 6:24?
I think so!
@@Rob.Parsons I just watched this and I'm like WTF?! Why did you put that in? Loved the video anyway, lots of plants in flower 🙂
Loved film Rob, makes me want to get out there to do the Overland Track all over again. What is the large yellow animal that appears on the boardwalk at 6:24 ????? Surely not a dog or cat out there?
Stray cat I think. it was pretty big!
@@Rob.Parsons Yes it was huge! I also saw some enormous feral cats on the road into Walls of Jerusalem National Park as well ... and a lot of pademelons were there as food for them. The damn things are probably evolving to fill the predator niche left empty by the extinction of thylacines. Awful.
@@conpapas5481 I’ve been trawling through the comments to see if someone makes mention of “the creature”. Damn. I really wanted it to be a Thylacine!
Awesome video Rob.
EPIC!
National Parks/Tasmanian Govt didnt take notice of Gustav Weindorfer, that it must be for the people all time. Not charging exorbitant entrance fees to Cradle Mountain for one.
You must have taken about 4 hrs to walk from Ronnie Ck to Windemere which is a feat in itself but doing Windemere to Kia Ora via Mt Ossa summit in a day is very impressive.
Your videos are outstanding. ( I'm also wondering how you arranged transport to and back, pick up your car and get to work on Monday morning. )
Thanks! I was picked up at Lake St Claire and taken back to my car at Cradle. Made it home at 10pm just in time to bed before work.😂
Damn I hope I’m wrong, but that looks like a Fox at 6:25
I love your video's. Just discovered Tassie Boy's Prospecting, love the hunts for gold. I watched the vid of you guys looking for and finding the grave, Levi shouted out your channel, and I'm now hooked! Such great editing and I just love how you give a run down of the history and geology of places before setting out on the adventures. So glad I've discovered both of your channels. I moved down to Tassie from the mainland about 4yrs ago, thought I'd take a guiding course to familiarise myself with the place and now I just can't get enough of this beautiful state. An explorer's mecca! 👌
Ps, what was that at 6.25 mark?? A feral cat or dog?
Thanks! oh I reckon its a feral cat. or thylacine not sure. haha
@@Rob.Parsons 😆
It's a massive cat!
@@Rob.Parsons It slinks like a cat. Feral cats grow large on their diet of defenseless native critters.
Great trip Rob loved the camera work, so was it worth it in such a short time? Will you take 5 days next time?
Maybe In winter I can take 5 days. I think the time I did it in was enjoyable for me. I don’t take books or anything when I go hiking I just like to take in all elements and film.
Epic
Hey, love the videos. What was that animal on the track just past waterfall hut. Looked like a fox or dingo but obviously not!
Cat
Definitely an interesting animal @ 6m24s. Feral dog, or something completely different?
Feral cat I think 🤔
You are really seeing God’s creation. Thanks for sharing!👧♥️
Would love to join you on a walk one day, I move to tassi next week for the first time. Originally a bush rat from Qld, keep up the great content!!
hey mate, I'm movin down to Tassie next week too! From Vic. Where about's are you moving to?
I'm in Burnie at the moment how was your trip
@@jamiemcpherson3442 , I’m working in Burnie!!! Living in Waratah. I did a Mt Murchison- Lake Sandra circuit today, absolutely mind blowing!!!! So happy to be here is Tas!!!!
Hi Rob. Amazing video and all while you walked it in 48 hours. Did the Cape Pillar walk a few weeks ago in 2 days and going back for a more relaxed walk for the Three Capes in June and planning for the Overland next year just hoping to be able to get a booking when they open. Still trying to work out the best time when it's less likely to get warm. What date did you do this walk ?
Gday Ken I think this was mid November! But the track is so good you could enjoy it anytime if the year.
Rob, great video. What is the animal on the boardwalk at 6.25?
Baby Thyla
@@Rob.Parsons we all wish mate. Moggy or photoshopped?
Forrest Galante will freak if he sees this!
Wondering the same. Looks like a ginger cat
yea i seen this too wtf. stray ginger house cat?
6:25 So I guess that's a cat? It was my understanding you guys didn't have foxes down there in tassie... either way sad to see it out there.
New Andrew Bentz or John Z in the making?
