    The Baron's men don't forget you killed three of their mates down at the Crossroads. Actions have consequences. If you had offered to have a drink with those three guys instead of turning them into mincemeat, they would have opened the castle gate for you and you wouldn't have had to find the underwater tunnel up through the well, and you wouldn't be fighting these guys now. Just like real life; sometimes reaching for a weapon isn't the optimal choice.

    Though Ciri trained as a witcher, she isn't one. Silver swords in the lore are very rare and not common among non-witchers and the ones used by witcher are custom made. Ciri, lore wise, deals mostly with Human/elf threats and not with monsters and thus the explanation in why she only owns a steel blade, that was offered to her.

    Swords are not just based on silver. Certain oils can be applied to swords which can poison or hamper a target. Problem is, each type of oil, and there are several, affects only certain types of opponents. So it's important to know what you're facing. Some oils are generic and can increase blood loss for example...they work on animals and humans. Some can burn, some can poison. Some work well on wraiths and ghosties, some on werewolves.

    She only has one sword because she's not a Witcher. Only one of the Witcher Schools trained females (or elves or dwarves for that matter); The School of the Cat. Which also never had a set stronghold as the School of the Wolf has a Kaer Morhen. The Cat School moved around in a kind of caravan. It also went to the bad; hired out as assassins and spies, not just monster hunters.

    Gretka seems to be a Hansel and Gretel reference with -el being a German diminutive and -ka being a Polish one.
    9:06 She pronounced "formulae" with the original (Latin) plural ending. This is common but is considered archaic outside of several words that are mostly used as plural (e.g. data and media)

    Oh, and by the way...loot the corpses...you can find armor, coin, and various items you can sell....or booze which you can use in alchemy or just to drink.

  • @donwild50
    @donwild50 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Again...take EVERYTHING...the Baron won't question it unless it is clearly involved in the quest....that was good loot in the chest.

    Not all monsters need silver to be defeated. There's also blade oils and other concoctions that can be made to deal with them.

    The television series is almost all based on the books. They couldn't stick to the books in the game because it would put the player on a linear questline and pretty much destroy the whole "open world" concept. Plus players go in hundreds of different paths at different times...if you're writing a script and you want it to be coherent enough to keep people watching the series, you need a story that's pretty much complete without plot holes. The books are problematic in one way...the stories and such jump forward and back in time and the series pretty much rearranges these so the viewers don't get lost. For example, you KNOW the game took place after the early part of the series because Geralt already has the moniker "Butcher of Blaviken" in the game. And Ciri is 14 years or so older the little girl in the series, so you've skipped a lot of the content in the novels.

    Also I believe the Streiga scene (from the tv show) occurred in one of the previous Witcher games (witcher 2 maybe) the choreography of the tv show fight is very similar to the game cut scenes

    The entire Bloody Baron "questline" with all its associated quests and needs is one of the strengths of this game and most CD Projekt Red content. By the time you get through this whole line you will have done a dozen or more subquests. It's complex enough and deep enough to serve as the basis for a game on its own. And you have to finish it to get through the Velen portion of the game and see Ciri move on. And after the Velen portion, you have to deal with the Novigrad portion with just as much content...and then you move on to Skellige and go through another bit. Once you've done those three primary quests you end up with a Kaer Morhen questline and dealing with the Wild Hunt for the first time. THEN you will eventually find Ciri and find out why the Hunt wants her, which piles you into another questline to finally confront the Hunt and hopefully complete the game. It's all intertwined... or "tangled beyond reasoning" as people who want to race through it opine. You can skip about 80% of the game content and still finish the game but you will be less accomplished, advanced and skilled...and each step will get harder because you didn't pick up the extra experience and armor and weaponry that will make the end game more probable. Witcher 3 is a world, with tiny things some people think are just padding. It isn't. Skip all the side content and when you finally take on the Hunt, you will have a very hard time dealing with it...if you even get there.

    As you advance in the game you can level up your Alchemy so you can put more than one oil on a blade...takes a while, but eventually you can use up to three. Like one that increases blood loss, another that burns and another than works best against certain monsters. In some areas you might run into necrophages like the drowners and wraiths...being able to put two oils on your silver blade, one that affects undead and one that affects a necrophage really give you a powerful advantage. On your steel blade there are oils that work best on animals and humans, like those that poison, cause increased pain or blood loss.

    2:40 That's definitely still a type of arming sword, a rapier is a very different blade more for thrusting than slicing(can do both tho).

    Not sure if you pieced things together or if others pointed it out. When you went to visit the Emperor and he sends you on the quest to find Ciri (his Daughter) .. the Emperor (charle's dances voice acted character) is the Hedgehog fellow from the TV series that claimed the princesses hand under Law of Surprise.

      @AngelusNZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe im reading too much into it, as I've not read the books, but if Geralt claimed Law of Surprise, “That which you already have but do not know” then the next shot is Parvetta being declared pregnant, and her daughter is Ciri...
      Emperor Emhir is Ciris father (according to the game) then wouldn't they be the same person?

      @@AngelusNZ Duny was exiled from Nilfgaard (due to its curse) but he was a contender for the throne (Nilfgaard kinda change its kings quite frequently) and in his travels saved the king of Cintra and as payment asked for the law of surprise. The Emperor of Nilfgaard is indeed Duny from the show and he supposedly died with Pavetta in a ship that sunk during a storm but he somehow survived and later appeared as emperor of Nilfgaard.

    i'm loving the reactions. But you guys shoud really try watching trough other source of material. This guy skips alot of key dialogue not to mention he is terrible. He's weird at moving gerald, fights really bad, dont use any magic... In the future the plot will get complicated. If you keep skiping dialogues you wont undertand lots of things. Specially with triss or Yen
