    Some comments I would add:
    1.) If you’re ok with voiding guests, then you can use the maze, crooked house, or the elevator to remove guests from your park without the park rating dropping. The elevator is the best here since it won’t breakdown (like the maze and crooked house), it’s a transport ride so guests will ignore its stats if the ride is free, it has a high throughout, and it works well in scenarios without landscaping enabled. Two elevators at the entrance and the rest of the park blocked off will be enough to void all incoming guests with maxed guest gen + ads. Only one if there’s no ads.
    2.) Park awards increase guest generation a lot. Go for as many as you can.
    3.) A park rating of > 850 is very important for guest gen. In difficult scenarios with harder park rating, this is critical (eg: quantum’s edge, daghaba’s triptych).
    4.) Setting the entry price to the minimum guest amount is usually best, but not in scenarios like daghaba’s triptych, which has a minimum of $20. In this case you earn more by charging $30 instead (getting 3 $30 guests is better than 4 $20 guests).
    5.) For increasing total tide value to increase the entry price, rides with high intensity and nausea (park value bombs) help the most. Tall launched free falls, or better yet, max height roto-drops are cheap ways to do this.
    6.) If you don’t want to void guests or need to meet the guest goal right away, you can store guests in long queue lines with queue line TVs (or entertainers in rct1), and make the minimum waiting time on the ride 250secs.
    The previously mentioned daghaba’s triptych is a very difficult scenario designed around efficient management of a paid-entry park. A scenario I made “I’m indebted to the rollercoaster mob!” is a slightly easier scenario with the same idea in mind.

      These tips are fantastic - especially for some of the extremely challenging scenarios like you've pointed out here. I'm going to pin this post for now! Thanks a lot for sharing!

      You got the breakdown thing reversed I think, in my experience the maze and crooked house will never break down but the lift can.

    • @opx-tech

      @@frankvandorp2059 The chairlift breaks down, but I was talking about the elevator. It's never broken down on me in openrct2, but I would have to test vanilla rct2 to see it's also true there.

    I often do a couple of 'open / close cycles'. Close the park and all attractions, then wait till most guests leave. Then reopen the park and all rides and enjoy the rapid guest generation. Repeat this every few months if needed. Each time should net $10k or more with a medium size park. Obviously you have to be mindful of guest goals but with advertising later in the scenario I find this works well.

      This is a great idea! I don't think I've never actually tried that myself but it makes a whole lot of sense as long you're careful about the deadline like you mentioned. I'll have to try this out myself some time! Thanks for sharing!

    I always hated playing these scenarios as a kid, but I’ve really grown to enjoy them - as long as I resist the urge to build the monstrous coasters I put in my pay-per-ride scenario parks. Definitely something satisfying about building an efficiently designed small coaster though. Awesome video!

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha the huge coasters can definitely make things more difficult! It's not until you realise these things 20 years later that you find that these parks can be quite fun like you said! Totally agree regarding the smaller coaster designs, I really enjoy them as you probably know! Thanks very much!

    Loved seeing all your parks in the footage as you talked, it was a wonderful trip down memory lane! One tip I like for pay-for-entry parks is to keep your expenses low. You get a lot of cash early on as guests enter, and a lot less later once the park hits capacity, so make your money last! You don't need to go overboard spending on things like research, staff wages, and crowding your park with shops and stalls. As long as your rating hovers around 800 or higher, you'll still be generating lots of guests, and with a few basic amenities and some good rides, that's pretty easy to do! Pay-for-entry parks definitely take a little more thinking and planning than pay-for-ride parks do, it's a nice change of pace!

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed looking at the older parks - it was nice that they could be put to work! That's a fantastic thought - you're spot on with managing your expenses, which can be difficult to do at the start since you're gathering so much entry fee income near the start like you mentioned! Good point about the park rating too, I believe that definitely helps guest generation too. I agree that these parks are a nice change of pace, I used to not like them so much, but now I look forward to them!

    I almost exclusively play with ´pay for entry´, even when I´m not forced to play this way. It`s just the way I prefer to play :). I was surprised how fast you can increase the park entry price. Great Tips you mentioned in the Video!

    I just finished every RCT 1 scenario, ONLY charging for park entrance fee and then like, 10 or 20 cents for food. Because basically all those scenarios are to have a certain rating and a certain number of guests. Once they're in, they will almost never run out fo money since they're not spending anything. Charging for rides makes sense for a park with cash machine, but yeah. Every scenario I basically took the first year to build, add staff and everything else. Then I'd just let it run, and every 20 minutes I'd check back, fix anything wrong, advertise, etc. And eventually it would finish. It is ridiculously easy. So not sure why people do charge for rides at all. Maybe in RCT 2 that's the strat? But park fee only for all of RCT 1 was a cakewalk for me. I was hoping for some challenged in the later scenarios but no.

      Interesting, in particular the strategy to charge only 10/20 cents for food. Did you complete all the Corkscrew Follies/Added Attractions with the same approach? The RCT1 base game scenarios are relatively easily I would say compared to the expansions. Loopy Landscapes pack I believe fixes the entry at 'free'. RCT2 scenarios (and RCT Classic I think) are either charge for entry or charge for rides, so you don't even get a choice in RCT2 or RCT Classic.

    That mechanic was added in RCT1 Loopy Landscapes, Corkscrew Follies was the last part of which you could freely choose between both park entry and ride ticket prices.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the 'pay for entry/free rides' mechanic? From what I remember the Loopy Landscapes scenarios where money applied were all fixed as 'free entry/pay for the ride'. I didn't think there was any 'pay for entry/free ride' scenarios on the list - I could be wrong though, and if I am, thanks for pointing it out!

      @@MickanMansRCTStation you didn’t primarily see the entry fee style scenario in Loopy Landscapes specifically but the introduction of separating both pay methods was brought in since then. RCT2 was when both were used in conjunction with the scenario list.

    To keep guests coming in, build one of your ride exits underground with no path and they will disappear off the map without technically dying... Meaning more room for new guests coming in 😀

    Honestly Pay-per-Entry parks are some of the least enjoyable parks in the series, Amity Airfield, Okinawa Coast, Animatronic Antics, are some of the most tedious parks I've played. The RC2 expansion scenarios in particular are quite shit for this as the vast majority of scenarios are what I like to call $40.00 pay-per-entry parks, aka pay-per-entry parks where you can only charge $40.00 for the entry or you turn away guests.
    However there's one tip you failed to mention, charging for restrooms, charging either $0.20 or $0.30 to use the restroom forces guests out and gets you a little extra income. Even if it won't do much for you (as to make $1,000.00 from this you need over 3.3k guests to use them at $0.30), however the big thing is that they force guests out as I said before.
    Okinawa Coast, Animatronic Antics and I'm guessing the Six Flags parks are particularly bad with this because you already start out with a shitload of guests, meaning that you have to put a serious effort into actually making money because you're already close to the soft guest cap.
    I don't do pay-per-entry if I have the choice, however I've dabbled into hybrid parks, i.e. where you charge for both the entry and rides and these are actually kind of fun. Yes you have to do a lot of micro-management, but you don't need to charge as much for the entry fee to begin with because you're charging for the rides as well. Plus it creates a MUCH more steady source of income and guest turnover. My Leafy Lake in OpenRCT2 made over $150,000.00 with this method and I ended up charging $55.00 for the entry fee for example. So they can be VERY lucrative if you're willing to work out how much you can charge for the rides.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I too have memories of those scenarios you mentioned and they are not a whole lot of fun. That's a great point regarding the restrooms - never thought about it like that. You're exactly right regarding the hybrid approach - it does provide a much more steady stream of income if you get it right. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    I would love an OpenRCT cheat that sends guests home after riding a certain number of rides. I live playing parks for decades but they're just not financially sustainable when guests stay for 40 years. I'd get rid of ATMs but I hate when guests leave immediately.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a bad idea in theory - although some ride times are much shorter than others, so maybe a 'time' limit imposed on each guest would make more sense. Yeah it can certainly be tricky when guests are having too good a time and never leave in these sort of parks!

  • @exxon101
    @exxon101 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So basically you're saying, don't build the ATM, so that guests will leave the park and be replaced.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may not have been alone - I certainly appreciate the attempt to capture the essence of how real parks operate in that way. You could also argue that charging for entry only reduces the amount of micromanagement as you don't have to adjust ride pricing as they age, which can become very tedious if you have even a medium number of rides

    Two things you can do to get rid of guests quickly:
    1) Don't build ANY bathrooms; you might take a small hit to park rating but you want guests with no/little money to get out to make room for someone else paying your exorbitant entrance fee
    2) Drop guests into the void (if you don't mind essentially deleting them): build a one tile maze (or any maze really) with the exit located underground. "Riders" drop into the void and disappear, and this is NOT considered dying a la exploding rides and drowning, so your park value is unaffected.

    • @MickanMansRCTStation
      @MickanMansRCTStation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing - the bathroom tactic is an interesting idea for sure, I might try that out next time! I don't know how I feel about the void tactic, to me it feels maybe a tad 'cheaty', but I might use it if I'm in a pinch one day!
