  • In this video, it's a very detailed crossover SUV comparison of the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid vs 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan.
    The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is a significant generational leap for Honda’s popular crossover. Built in Ontario, the completely redesigned sixth-generation model is bigger, stronger, and more finely tuned. It also offers the latest in Honda’s electrified technology with the optional hybrid engine.

    I was going back and forth between the 2024 versions of each. This is a great review to compare. I test drove both twice and after the first go round I found the Tiguan to be a blast to drive. Very sporty feel and far more power than I was expecting. After a second test drive the CRV stood out from a comfort and refinement standpoint. Initially I didn't experience the acceleration issues with the Tiguan, but I did upon the second test drive. While I hate giving up the extra amenities with Tiguan, I ultimately chose the CRV because of the quality of the ride, the comfort of the interior, and the incredible fuel economy. Your video really helped.

    We are a fan of the Tiguan. The cheaper price point for this great up grade is a no brainer in my opinion. Thorough review, well done Justin.

    Hi Justin, thanks for great review and comparison. Shopping between CR-V EX-L hybrid and Tucson Lux hybrid what do you prefer for our North Bay winter weather and snow/ice covered roads. Thanks!

      Of those two, I'd be rocking a CR-V on a set of Xice or Hakka rubber 👌
      Nothing wrong with the Tucson hybrid per se but the hybrid system in that CRV is top notch and I can confirm it is awesome in the snow, I found the Tucson AWD a bit less responsive on snow and ice
      Hope that helps, but definitely drive both

      Thanks again! We have Xice on our Subaru, and it just plows through. Did test drive both (just before our first snow, so could not feel the awd properly and what it does on snow or ice, your comment helps a lot) CRV also feels somehow more substantial, but it is a bit on a pricey side.     Hi Justin, Thank you for the great comparison. On a sustained climb, did you find the CRV hybrid engine to have any difficulty accelerating? Have seen people comment on the hybrid battery running out with just the ICE engine pulling at 60mph without any more power to accelerate or pass other cars. Also given the hybrid doesn't have a spare, do you recommend getting one to put in the back? Thank you!

    In Alberta Canada. 2024 Honda CRV EXL Hybrid with 18 inch rim vs 2024 Mazda CX50 GT with 17 inch rim.
    Which car should I buy.
    I drive in city mostly and with kids. And put my car on 50km/hr Cruise control mostly. Which car will last me longer with lesser maintenance in Edmonton, Alberta winters?

    We have a 24' CR-V Hybrid on order. Sold our VW, and no more VW's for us. Great cars, we had 3 but VW's are outrageously expensive to maintain. Almost to the point of being absurd.

    The Tiguan is a no-brainer over the Honda. The Tiguan's dual injection 2 liter turbo alleviates the carbon issue that the CRV suffers from. Plus, the added complexity of the hybrid system with a very expensive battery is also a negative in my perspective. I would only consider leasing a Honda for no more than 2 years if I were to purchase one. It is a high-maintenance car.

    Honda CRV Hybrid for the win. We have a VW and they are extremely expensive to maintain and have poor fuel economy.
