I’m wondering if you could help me, I have a class 66 ( not next18) I have fitted a Dapol imperium 4 6 pin 2 function decoder. I get lights on but no movement. I then tried the same decoder in my uncles and it worked perfectly… I then borrowed a decoder of my uncle and that also worked in my 66. I’ve tried everything from resetting and unlocking the decoder but nothing has worked.
Sometimes what youve just described with the lights working but not the motor can be because the decoder is installed backwards. If you know for sure your decoder is ok as per your uncles loco then it should work in your loco.. i would double check your decoder is orientated properly.. was your uncles test of your decoder on your track or his? The only thing that makes sense would be if your decoder was initially plugged in backwards. Very odd indeed 🤔
@@ThisWayWorksTWW yeah I flipped it but still didn’t work but I did get lights still, when I tested my uncles it was on my layout, all the testing was done on my track
@@BanksideFishing its tricky to diagnose because changing the decoder to another loco the decoder works.. trying another decoder in your loco the loco works. There doesent seem to be something broken.. unless by some weirdness that specific decoder has longer pins maybe and pushes too far into the socket of your loco? Is there any visual differences you notice with the decoders?
@@ThisWayWorksTWW what’s annoying me is the fact I bought 2 decoders, both exactly the same and have the same problem with both of them…. But they work in other locos
@@BanksideFishing that would indicate something not quite correct maybe with your loco then. Is the other decoder that worked in your 66 an Imperium aswell?
