I fly out of this terminal a lot, but I can see how this can be confusing to those who use it infrequently. Fly to Europe (mostly on Delta out of JFK) between three and 12 times a year. Using Delta on the far right and then paying for TSA precheck access, that saves a ton of time. Also I check in online with the Delta app on my phone so I go straight to the back and TSA pre-check if I only have a carry on back for a shorter trip to Europe. It saves a ton of time using Delta's electronic check-in with all my passport information and skip all the madness in the front. I know many cannot do this but for those who can it is definitely worth it. Thanks for doing this for those who rarely fly here.
One last comment: Delta offers a free shuttle bus that runs between Gate A8 and Gate B53. This isn't always useful, but on a recent flight, I had three gate changes! I was first assigned a gate somewhere around B35, then B44, and then A12. The easiest and quickest solution was to walk down to gate B53 and get on the free shuttle to the middle of Concourse A. I suppose an enterprising passenger could use this logic in reverse, say, if their flight is from the end of Concourse B, then just walk to gate A8 and shuttle over to your gate in Concourse B.
THIS is also helpful because those concourses are very far apart. I read recently that JFK is one of the longest airports in terms of walkability, you can eas traverse over a mile getting from point A to point B. This will be helpful, thank you for including!
Another comment or two regarding things to do and lounges. First off, at 11:00, you are absolutely correct that the Centurion Lounge is just past security and not actually located down either concourse. What new JFK passengers shouldn't overlook, however, is that Concourse B is massively long, so if you decide to use the Centurion Lounge (which you absolutely should if you have access to it) is to plan on at least a 15- or 20-minute walk from this lounge to your gate--especially if your gate has a high number (in the 40s or 50s). Second, as I'm writing this comment (early April 2024), there are NO food options in Concourse A (other than the Delta Lounge, which many passengers don't have access to). There are going to be a couple of venues in the future, but they're currently all closed and/or under construction. So if your flight is in Concourse A and if you also want food, get it from the venues after security, but before you wander down Concourse A.
Again, THANK YOU--this is extremely helpful. I'm a devout believer in boarding on a full stomach (bc you never know!). These are both excellent points!!! Thank you again! Now, I need to do another video with all these extras!
Thank you for the feedback, I greatly appreciate it and apologize...hopefully the closed captions can help out. I'm also here to answer any questions you may have.
Great video--and imminently useful, too, as T4 is absolutely massive and always crowded. Another piece of information--just to confuse things further--is that Delta Airlines now offers what they call "Digital ID." It's available to passengers who have a KTN on file with Delta and whose passport information is also in the profile. It works like Clear--just look at the camera and then go through a TSA precheck line. The benefit of using the Digital ID is that you don't need to fumble with any government IDs nor show your boarding pass. If you have access to the Digital ID line, it make the security process even easier and faster. So, at 9:00, this is actually a fifth type of security clearance available. One word of caution, though. Delta's Digital ID is only available a JFK, LGA, DTW, and (I think) ATL. However, since this video is about JFK's T4, it's a service that's available at this location.
A BIG THANK YOU for sharing this! The Delta Digital ID is a big deal. I'll definitely have to check it out and do an update. Now you've given me an excuse to book a Delta long-haul out of JFK! 😃😃😃
@@thewholetraveler Go ahead and book a long-haul if you like, but honestly the Digital ID works just as well for the regional flights and puddle jumpers. I recently flew LGA to SDF and used it. I've also flown JFK to DTW and used it. As long as you're flying Delta and you have enabled their Digital ID, they don't care how long or short your flight is--just look into the camera and smile! lol
Wish we had known this sooner. I guess we got thru a couple of times at T4 but yesterday was a nightmare and my daughter missed her flight. Insane that they don't help people who are about to miss their flight. Also stupid that international and domestic people are waiting on the same security line. One time they took me down to Level 1 and the security line at the arrival area and I got thru security quickly. They need a much bigger security area on the departure level.
Oh jeez! Yes, T4 is definitely a horror show. The airport personnel are not very helpful at all, either. Hope your daughter was able to catch another flight ✈️

A great and informative video! Surly answered so many questions that I had. What caught my attention is the security lines, just wanted to check, I am flying Etihad on business class, does this allow me to use the 1st Class line?
I am traveling through JFK on two different bookings due to cost savings and schedule. If I am landing at JFK and going through Terminal 4 and have to claim a bag, but I then have to take a flight out of Terminal 7, can I hop on the AirTran after claiming the bag and NOT go through security before catching the AirTran, which I believe is level 4? I understand AirTran is out of the secure loop, so it would make sense that I would only go through security when checking in at Terminal 7. Is this correct?
Correct. When your disembark and gather your baggage and exit T4 via air tran to T7 you will have to chheck in with your new carrier and go through security again. This will take about 1.5 to 2 jours from the moment of disembarking to reaching your mew boarding gate. Hope that helps!
Don't quote me, but Im pretty sure its international...if there are domestic they are most likely part of connection i.e. Amsterdam 》JFK nyc》 Phoenix, Arizona
It really and truly seems to depend on the day. I, personally, would not depend on it so that if you arrive and it's there it's a pleasant surprise. Also, DEFINITELY arrive at your checkin terminal 3 hours before your departure time. People have been saying the security lines have become much slower. Hope this helps!

@dimple412 It depends. I would go to the assist ♿️ stations and they'll probably make that determination (chair or car). They'll most likely wheel you to the security, but after that maybe transport based on distance. Hope that helps, safe travels✨️🇵🇷🛫

Quick question, im flying for my first time with my dad, probably be in terminal 4. He uses a wheelchair, would he need wheelchair assistance? If so, how does that go about for security? You said in your video that people with mobility issue might be put in that line, will i he with him? Or would i go to a different line? I know its alot, but i just wanna make sure, as I am a very anxious person.
@JorgeFlores-xb3ih Hi Jorge, yes your father would qualify for wheelchair assistance. They have special lines and offer additional help. Who they allow with that person differs from airport to airport but if its you and your father, I'm sure they will allow you together if you explain you are your father's caretaker for the trip. Hope that helps!
YES, The Delta aisle should absolutely be open. They will be in aisle 1 (if first class) and aisle 2 for general. Safe travels and welcome to the USA! 😄

hello! thanks for the helpful info, ill be traveling with AA term 8 but i have a quick question. I have a carry on bag which doesnt cost anything and i have a small duffel/suitcase roller bag, will that cost extra even below 30-50 lbs? Thanks!
Hi, safe travels. To answer your question, it really depends on how strict they choose to enforce their baggage policy. They may look at what you have as a personal item and carry on, and that would be fine (no additional fees), or they may say you have two carry-on items and charge you. My suggestion is to be super sweet and nice, and you may have the gate agent pass you through without any additional baggage fees, but really it depends on the dimensionsof your two bags...fdoes look like a small backpack or purse, small enough to go under a seat? If so, you should be good. 🤞🤞🤞
@@hazel9997 It also depends on airline's policy vis-a-vis any perks you may have. For example, I use Delta (T4), but I also have a Delta/AmEx credit card, and I also have platinum status with Delta. So, I get my two carry-ons, the credit card gives me one free checked bag, and the platinum status gives me a free checked bag. All these perks stack on top of each other, so I can have two free carry-ons plus two free checked bags. Does American do it this way? I'm not sure, but they probably have similar ways to obtain various perks.
@@ajs11201 hiya! i know that they do have something along the lines like getting a credit card for premium which makes ur 1st bag free other than that im not sure haha
These terms refer to the four different types of security lines. So, if you have CLEAR membership (which is a type of airport security clearance offered by a private company) you can use that line, if you have TSA Pre-Check (this is pre-approved clearance by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) a US Government institution) --you can use this line. With TSA you do not have to remove your shoes or take out your laptops (usually). If you are flying 1st/business/premiere class there's a separate security line that you can also use instead of the general security line. The general security line is usually the longest and slowest. The other three lines are designed to help travelers get through security at a faster rate. Hope this helps!
@@davidlotd4044 You are still eligible to apply for either TSA precheck or Clear..... These are independent of the airline and independent of your ticket status. Both precheck and Clear have a fee, and once you're enrolled, you'll have that status for five years and you'll be assigned a Known Traveler Number (KTN). Just add that KTN to your profile in the airline's app and it will appear on your ticket granting you access to those speedier lines--even if you're flying on a basic economy ticket. You can also give that KTN to the check-in agent when you're checking in for your flight or checking your bags. Either way, get that KTN into your profile and onto your ticket.
