- The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC -UK) have restructured and introduced a new test of competence (CBT & OSCE). This new test will be commencing in August 2021.
Below is a statement about the test from the NMC;
“The Test of Competence will remain a two-part test that assesses a candidate’s competence to be a nurse or midwife in the UK. You can take the Test of Competence if you are applying from overseas or returning to practice. The first part, a computer-based test, tests a candidate’s numeracy skills and theoretical knowledge. The second part is a practical examination at one of our test centres.
We are updating the content and structure of the Test of Competence to reflect the new standards for nurses and midwives in the UK.
As well as creating new content for the Test of Competence, where it has been possible, safe and appropriate to do so we updated and reused current content to align with the new standards.”

@@thereseanwi8638 yea. It was 4hours n personally I think the time is too much. About 10 questions on drug calculations(very simple) n more questions about safeguarding
