There are _veterans_ in that roster who know how but aren't given the chance to teach those kids how to make their punches and holds believable. This is how bad AEW is being run. Veterans who languish in sub-par storylines that make Russo booking look desirable and rookies who perform without a grasp of the basics. This, on top of an owner who clearly doesn't see the glaring issues of his product and blames its failures on WWE

My wife who is not a big fan and is not smart to what's going on summed it up by saying," wrestling without a story is just a couple guys fake fighting". I think that's the issue we're witnessing with AEW.

You have a very smart woman as a wife, she's smarter than ALL THE AEW MARKS who die on the hill that "AEW has better wrestling than WWE" no... they don't. Not without a good storyline, they don't-- nobody wants to watch 2 guys go 1,000 MPH in the ring doing spot after spot for literally no storyline reason or feud happening. AEW fans can't understand why the ratings are shitty, and the live attendance keeps going down but your wife just explained it. They just refuse to believe it, lol
Recently I watched the Waterworld Stunt Show at Universal, and realized wrestling is just a live stunt show on TV.

95% of aews roster are in a stable and storline about friends turning on each other or friends reuniting and hugging and thats every episode and every paperview
95% of the roster isn't ready for TV and the most physically unintimadating group of chumps assembled. It is embarrassing at this point. It is like AEW is the Revenge of the Nerds. Especially since their roster looks like the cast.
From what I've seen they randomly bung two people together for two weeks and say they're the best of friends then after two weeks they're not friends anymore then they wrestle at a PPV and become friends again but they are never seen together anymore afterwards.

Thanks to Dish Anywhere, I was able to watch the 6 man with Corny's commentary. Glorious disaster.
I've also noticed with the BCC, that Moxley never defends the others. He doesn't come out of the back when one of the others are getting beat down in the ring. Granted, it takes him 10 minutes to get to the ring because he has to walk around the arena. In this match, he runs to Naito and they dance off screen, leaving his team behind like always.

This is what happens when you buy a roster instead of building one. This is what happens when you don’t believe in training your roster instead of just putting them on tv when they show promise. This is why even NXT is killing them on a weekly basis. This is why the WWE is killing them on a monthly basis with sponsorship deals and PLE’s either in a stadium or an arena in another country.

All this chatter I hear about AEW makes it seem like some folks still think it's 2019. You can't hug the hands of a clock and hope time stops you have to keep moving forward and adjusting. In all mectrics the company is down no disputing it anymore

I don't. Some good talent and legends from years ago are there. JR and Paul Wight don't deserve to languish in a promotion like that. Hell, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage make something of themselves there but they're being dragged-down by every other bad quality of that promotion. Those guys used to stand on a pedestal in the WWE, now they're hogtied next to a dumpster fire known as AEW
We put on wrestling matches in my yard as '80 kids. The 6 man was us, literally, we could do moves and punches just as well as they did.
AEW dynamite keeps getting worse AEW will never be taken seriously especially since Excalibur is on commentary that goes out the window AEW'S commentary sucks can we please have two-men on commentary instead of three tony Schiavone is awful this isn't WCW AEW feels like it and you see why people have stopped watching AEW in favor of WWE because they're the hotter company and everyone's talking positively about WWE and negatively about AEW.

Speaking of wrestlers who are old, they had a match in Japan recently featuring a tag team called Team 115, two ladies with a combined ages of 115. I am not saying that they could still go since I didn't see the match, but I would never count out Jaguar Yokota and Mayumi Ozaki. Also, in Chikara, they had a singles match with combined ages over 130, and the match was fast, smooth, and way ahead of anything on AEW or WWE: Johnny Saint vs Johnny Kid.

Early AEW fans were outraged when Ross would throw the wrestlers under the bus. If Jim was there he would nuke the place. Ratings would increase just to hear Jim

The story behind Naito's eye thing is that he was in a slump in Japan so he went on excursion to Mexico. He got boo-ed there mercilessly for being vanilla and lazy. Some of the fans were saying that Naito was so lazy that he couldn't even be bothered to open his eyes. Naito then discovered that he could get super heat with the Mexican fans by hitting some slick moves, ejecting his opponent from the ring, then lying down (like his LFI stable mates RUSH and Andrade would do) and opening an eye with his fingers. The original reason for doing this is kind of lost but Naito kept doing it since it looked cool.
It was a little more racial than that!
When Dragon Gate USA started up, the promoters made sure to explain why we should care about the fact that Genki Horiguchi was bald. Tony Khan has lost his touch as a promoter. Already!
I tell you I absolutely love all the videos and OMNIBUS THE DRIVE THROUGH EXPERIENCE. I listen to your guys videos before bed every night. I live 30 minutes from Buffalo. I’ve seen WWE Raw sell out the big big arena, I saw WCW Nitro cell out the arena. I refuse to spend a penny on AEW. No way did they sell more than 2400 tickets it sits 16,000 to 17,000 for Wrestling. AEW is sad as F.
Did Jim ever review/discuss the final episode of Who Killed WCW? They had uploads for the first three, but I don't see the fourth. Is it in one of the full podcasts somewhere?

I live in Buffalo and I had no idea that show had even happened. I saw a promo that they were coming here like 2 months ago on Facebook, And they had a who's nobody of not stars advertised for that show.
I bet Tony Khan just made a bunch of flyers with Daniel Garcia's face on it and assumed everybody in Buffalo knows who tf Garcia is because of the 4-year-push he's been given on AEW, YET HE'S STILL A MIDCARD LOSER AFTER FOUR YEARS lol sucks to suck.

Brian makes good points here. AEW has very little appeal to women, the womens division is definitely booked for the "male gaze". You see this in all forms of entertainment marketing largely to men. Rock and Roll and Hip Hop for example. i mean if the girls wanna do it then it is what it is. but i think there should be more non sexualised characters. one of my male friends is a big fan of Abadon so there is at least some market of people who are interested in more than looking at their butts. but idk how big that market is
But i agree with Brian that it is hard to determine who their intended market is with the womens division. It's very strange that 3 years in, they still have no idea who they are actually booking the womens division for. Like Jim said u can see butts anywhere, including the workers instagram pages, so it isnt very logical to think people will tune in just for the sex appeal

Even though AEW is an egregious promotion that IMO is NOT wrestling (I don't even know what you call that), there's still always the alleviation of listening to Jim and Brian that helps subdue everyone's anger with the product.

Did the watch along - TH-cam TV has nice on-demand access to stuff like this. Haven’t see AEW TV in awhile; if this match is remotely representative of what they are airing I don’t get how you could be a fan. It’s so obviously fake you look like a child marveling at a sloppy circus act. The forearms hitting nothing was… shocking. And the 100mph wrestling where nothing hurts, except when you need to hangout for 4-5 seconds on a spot to full arms-out catch the diving opponent.
Thanks for insisting on it, now I have proof your AEW-bashing is evidence-based.

As bad as AEW is and has been, I will admit, I was laughing to the watch along with Jim's reaction of that match. We need more watch alongside in the future.

AEW are signing guys from new Japan that were at the peak of their powers 10 years ago. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it and clearly Tony Khan hasn't learned a thing from WCW or TNA or even their own past mistakes in the early years.
Apparently Tony thinks AEW is 'bigger' than WCW now because WCW never got a $1M gate (Wembley) unlike AEW. Tony is a stupid ass who doesn't understand that back in 1996 when WCW sold out ppvs like Bash at the Beach and collected $500K gates that translates into 2024 well over $1M but nobody ever accused Tony Khan of being a smart businessman so...
The man is completely clueless and blind to his own faults even when he's making literally the same ones that Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo did with WCW.

I listen and watch some great guitar podcasts, Mafia Podcasts, health and fitness podcast. You 2 are what Macho Man would say “the cream always rises to the crop” and you do. Bron Breaker vs Draz was an absolute nightmare, those guys didn't even come close to touching each other and they called it a wrestling match. One point Bron through Draz in the ring and Draz jus rolled 3 or 4 times to het in position in the ring. If Jim thinks AEW is bad, hiw bad does he think that WWE trash is?

I Google the women I haven't seen when Jim or Brian mention them. I take a look at the pics and keep moving. The women can't get me to watch this show.
