AEW Has A Chris Jericho Problem

- Chris Jericho is destroying his legacy with his current AEW run and desperately needs some time off. Just this past weekend on the Dynasty PPV, Jericho wrestled and for some reason beat Hook and during this match received “retire” and “go home” chants, the AEW fans completely reject him. But how did it get this way? Jericho was having a great run when he first got to AEW, but controversies outside the ring and his problems with his on-screen character lead to all of this and today I’m going to explain the 3 feuds since im Top3Wrestling, that Chris Jericho had in AEW that I think caused this shift in reaction. LIke the video and lets talk about it, lets talk about AEW’s Chris Jericho problem.

AEW Wrestler: can you please let me win this feud?
Jericho: that doesn’t work for me, brother
Insert Hulk Hogan’s TNA theme here
More like "that doesn't work for more, junior!"
NDA? Where?
Jericho becoming the Hulk Hogan of AEW? That can't be right
😂
Well done to Hook for putting over a young and promising talent like Jericho 👏🏼
LET THE YOUNG LION ROARS!
There’s no way Hook is 220 pounds he the same size as Darby Allin
@@kdizzle901even if you minus the 20 pounds every announcer adds to the wrestler’s actual real weight, that would put Hook at 200 pounds and I still have trouble believing that lol
@@robdurfee6861 he looks like he weighs about 175-180
@@robdurfee6861 probably 150 lbs
Jericho has come full circle. He’s now become the very person that caused him to leave WCW 25 years ago. What irony.
That’s crazy.
It's Like Yeah We Used To Like Chris Jericho's Work In AEW Back When The Company Was First Formed, but nowadays he's gotten pretty stale with his matches, his parings with his own factions and now I currently hate the learning tree Gimmick right now.😑
*leaning tree
@@LosHitman did I Mispelt learning tree wrong?
@@DanielDeLeon69 nah he’s more like the leaning tree than a learning tree
That and that famous NDA 😂
Learning tree is the most interested I've been in Jericho since Le Champion
Jericho's idea of putting someone over is: "you can pin me once but I'll win the overall feud."
Exactly. Making the job he does mean nothing in the end. So the other guy gets buried instead of gets over.
No, Orange won 2 of 3 of their matches I think. Orange certainly won the last, he put Hobbs over like fucking Goldberg, I've never seen Chris squashed like he was let alone on regular TV, maybe not since actual Goldberg beat him in the late 90s.
@alanmcdonald469 Name another feud besides Kingston where Jericho went over last or didn't job more than he went over. To me Jericho has been jobbed out so much since his initial title run what does it even mean anymore, if a not physically impressive still green Hook can beat him then anyone can really.
Chris Jericho creating The Inner Circle was honestly the last good thing he did in AEW. Afterwards were just very questionable.
the JAS fucking sucked
He's a shady dude. Always getting into fights on Twitter, cheis jericho being a creep
@@wwemastahe has a massive ego. I mean fair play he has had a very successful career in multiple forms of entertainment. But still, massive ego hence the constant fights he gets into online and in real life
The Jericho Appreciation Society was when he went downhill.
@@SWyrick366I agree. Even when that faction was newly made, I thought it was dumb lmao
Jericho went from one of my all time favs to the CLOUT VAMPIRE
Exactly
Chris Jericho has finally enter the "That doesnt work for me brother" phase
Man AEW is really similar to 2000s WCW. Including an over-the-hill and washed up old man desperately trying to relive a moment that had long past.
I Saw 2000's WCW at it happens and this isnt True... AEW don't have Main stars and the veterans are doing anthing to Stay on TV...
Aew is way better than WCW ever was, even at this point
@haraldrauppraupp1761 they need to leave. It's over guys. Seeing RVD still wrestle was jarring to say the least
@@parallax8207 I bet you never even watched WCW
Just a bunch of old wwe guys tryna make a dollar just like wcw itll be out if buisness in 5 years
Tony Kahn needs to learn to say no. Jericho always stayed fresh by taking long breaks constantly. And he also had Vince to tell him his ideas were dumb.
This - one of the few good things Vince could do.
I think Jim Cornette said Vince was a great editor one time about Vince Russo. Apparently Vince knew the right ideas with Russo and shot down the really stupid ones (Minus the Brawl For All) and I think the same could be said about Jericho. A lot of what he did in WWE was great, but in AEW he's pretty much allowed to do whatever he wants and it kinda shows he's not as smart or great as he thinks he is.
If Tony could say no, the not so young cucks would have been put in their place a long time ago
like what CM Punk said in Ariel Helwani interview, TK is just too nice of a boss.
AEW has all kinds of problems not only jericho
fax the grandma isn’t the only problem 😂
Tony Clown and the Elite are the apex of it.
But he's one of the biggest ones along with The Elite.
Well the biggest problem aew has is Obvious.
Not wrong lol
The modern day Hulk Hogan
LOL Jericho wishes he were ever that big a star
@@jamespaul6315 Say what you want about Hogan, dude was a star. I think more people would know Hogan than Jericho. Even with his band. I guarantee I could ask a bunch of hard rock and metal listeners, most probably don't even know who he is or his band.
Except Hogan was maybe the biggest draw in pro wrestling history.
Ouch
@@dwightyboy5324 oh im a fan of hogan, always have been and will be. Hes flawed like everyone. But he will always be one of the people who made pro wrestling the juggxrnaught it is
One thing I don't get is that usually when Chris Jericho is feuding with someone, he loses the first match but then wins the rematch.
That's the Jericho formula. He 'puts them over' in the first match with some caveat to it that still puts the spotlight on Jericho in the end, and then Jericho talks his way into winning the rematch decisively in the middle of the ring. Ultimately making the job he did mean nothing in the end. It's the formula he's done over and over and over again throughout his entire AEW run.
Cause you’ll remember the last match ..
It’s literally hulk hogans booking strategy
He who laughs last, laughs loudest
hey orange cassidy defeated him like twice and won the feud
Jericho fell off the rails once he dropped the title to Moxley.
I completely disavowed him after the MJF musical number. Before that, I got turned off by the OC feud and Stadium Stampedes.
The problem is he has terrible ideas, an over-inflated ego that makes him think his ideas are the best, nobody to put a leash on them and tell him No! and he gets enabled by Memeltzer and the AEW stans. At least in WWE, he was helping effective talent and WWE's production value could make his hokey ideas look professional (eg. Owens and the Festival of Friendship)
Wasn't the fof JimmyJacob's idea? I'm positive it was.
Just because he does something on screen doesn't mean it's his idea, especially in his wwe days. He had very little control there comparatively.
Jericho and Mjf musical dates was So bad.
Cm punk had to come out of retirement to give Mjf a classic feud and leave.
That musical number was a top tier segment. Pandemic wrestling was fuckin strange but also great.
I can't believe he spoke about these feuds and not the Orange cassidy feud or the accusations made agaisnt him. They are the things that really killed him
Jericho is just a small domino on the pile of AEW problems and they are falling down.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the feud with MJF. Went on for waaaaaay too long, and Jericho won in the end. MJF had to have some short feuds after with Darby and Pillman Jr to get his heel heat back.
“We’re gonna have HOOK go over tonight Jericho”
“That ain’t gonna work for me, rockstar”
You know why Jericho was so praised in WWE because he “reinvented himself” and all his different gimmicks worked? BECAUSE HE WENT AWAY IN BETWEEN GIMMICKS. We’ve been getting nonstop Jericho for almost 5 years now. The best thing he could do is take a year off and come back with a new look and no stable, that’s what always worked for him.
He can't take a year off, he's gonna be too old.
Cornette’s been saying this for 3 or 4 years now….. they knew where this would go with him.
Casual reminder that Tony Kahn calls WWE the Harvey Weinstein of wrestling, due to a past owner who isnt even there anymore, while he still keeps Jericho in AEW, and swept allegations against him under the rug.
and don't forget TK has signed Ric Flair for a multi year contract with aew
The Inner Circle could have been one of those stables that rotated membership, possibly even replacing Jericho with his protege.
The problem is the allegations. Aew never confirmed or denied it. Kylie rae put a heart emoji❤ which makes me think there is an NDA involved because she can't talk about it. Chris jericho is a liar and a stooge and he's the modern day hulk hogan. He's always embarassing himself such as getting into drunken rants on Twitter on Christmas morning.
As a hardcore Jericho fan, I agree, he's becoming more and more like the people he always complained about.
If there is an NDA that means that Tony Khan is covering up misconduct. That's a Vince McMahon move.
@@FoxPrinceHopesame dude, Jericho was my favorite for like 12 years of watching wrestling, nowadays I can't stand the guy. Also funny how it was bad when they did it, but cool when he did it.
The person who first made the tweet backtracked. Supposedly.....
@@spongeblue_depressedpants no... wrong. They backtracked because they weren't referring to kylie rae... but kylie raes situation got uncovered. There could be more victims of jericho
The problem with Jericho in aew is that all of his storylines, matches, and angles all feel like Vince McMahon is booking them. The stories don't make sense usually, the wrong person goes over, and they prolong the feuds when they should end.
the jericho vortex is real plus the go away heat and please retire chants don't help either
If Chris wanted to do the stuff he’s doing in aew to wwe I’m glad wwe didn’t let this happen cause my god this is horrible like “el ocho” my god 💀 the pool match he had with orange cassidy my god 💀💀
The Cringemaker🤣 😂
The problem with Jericho is that there's always Jericho on Dynamite, he doesn't skip a beat and his storylines are same-ish.
In WWE he used to take time off to tour with Fozzy, lol, then he returned with a new gimmick and that freshened his runs; in AEW instead he just jumps from one gimmick to the other without a discernible reason (other than "Jericho feels like it").
The allegations don't help (but that's Tony's fault that didn't put an end to them).
Eddie Kingston is the top guy at Burger King.
Third best Eddie second best Kingston
You forgot jericho vs adam cole feud
I think everyone did. Thankfully.
Tony Kahn and Chris Jericho are missing out on a golden opportunity to make Chris Jericho a self absorbed narcissist heel. Seriously the JAS would have been way better if Chris Jericho tried to mold every member into a past version of himself, especially if you combined it with his current gimmick. Also him winning against younger talent isn't a bad thing so long as he's a heel that cheats or he's a babyface.
But... thats his actual gimmick...
@@PedroR24 yeah but it's not tho. He should be more like Roman Reigns and constantly saying he's the GOAT
His segments draw away viewers
AEW has an everything problem
You just made the list
I was done with Jericho when he latch on MJF feud and made MJF cold af. Thanks for the Punk vs MJF feud that made MJF hotter than ever.
I just realized why Chris and Eddie were bap bap bapping on the top of the cage at the end of blood and guts RIGHT NOW. That’s how bad that “storyline” got.
I don't know why he hasn't completely leaned into the "Fat Rocker Who Is Passed Their Prime" Gimmick more.
He's playing the part of a heel who thinks he's a mega over face. He's started leaning in.
Intersting, but honestly, I think it all went wrong so long ago for Jericho. Not long after Matt Hardy joined teleporting around the arena. The MJF feud was bad. Its all been bad
Cool video as always Tom, how about Chris Jericho's Undisputed Championship title reign
arena empty wrestling is the problem 😂
not really
@@KingBlitz800A shrinking audience is a bad sign IMO.
@@perceivedvelocity9914If you actually look at numbers their audience has pretty much stayed around the same since the start.
The arenas wouldn’t be empty if the product was watchable
Well, a clown can actually DRAW. What's Tony Khan's problem?? 🤡🤔
🎈😑🍦 📖🖍🤡 🤸🏼🎪🤸🏼♀️
Tbf if I was Jericho I'm not sure I'd put over Kingston at all.
Jericho was good at the beginning as their first major star but now they are a few years in and Jericho being a major player instead of taking a backseat is part of it
"Jericho will always have value in AEW..." Presented as if this was an objective, self-evident truth, with nothing to back it up.
Value as what exactly - and how? As a wrestler? He's only going to get worse. 53-year-old pro wrestlers don't get better or regain lost abilities anymore. And definitely not ones with Jericho's... um... "recreational habits". The dropoff in quality from 2023 to now alone should tell you everything you need to know, to predict where his in-ring will be in one or two years.
In creative or behind the scenes? I think we've seen more than enough of his "booking genius" and shitty braindead '90s comedy garbage, as well as his scheming, politicking, perving, and backstabbing within the company. Hey, make Le Sex Pest the talent relations guy, instead of the completely incompetent Bucksucker Daniels. Let's see how long he can control himself until his inner Vinnie Lupton comes out...
As a non-wrestling on-screen character, like a general manager or something? They already have a non-wrestler in Callis, who dragged an entire faction to the bottom of the jobber sea, by making everything they do about himself. Jericho would make entire shows about himself and nothing else - and probably take "Dynamite" to sub-450k viewers with his asinine horseshit.
There's a reason why WWE only used him intermittently for his last years there. Half a decade straight - with very few breaks - of Jericho is unbearable. He's like that guy you meet at a party, who only knows five basic old jokes from back in school, that he mixes up and varies over and over. Okay, why not - variations on a few classics for an evening, beats going to a funeral. Then you find out he was hired by the company you work for and you have to be around him five days a week...
JAS vs BCC in 2022 was the worst. It was like an 8 month feud
It's frustrating that the one consistent brain disease older wrestlers develop is their unwillingness to put newer talent over because of ego, obviously contradicting the one defining life cycle of pro wrestling
Can’t forget the Ricky starks feud. That’s when I started to groan
Man, I saw that street fight with big show and Chris. I just wish big show should have done more than that match.
I remember seeing a comment on the FTW win that went like “I’m glad Hook decided to put over young talent like Jericho, just like the good ol’ 2017-2019 Goldberg”
Hook should turn on the FTW championship and became TNT champion or International champion a real championship
He’s not the demo god. Or the pain maker. Or a star maker. Or the learning tree. Feuds with him create jobbers. Just look at action Andretti. Does anyone in aew have more losses than him?
Jericho doesn't need time off, he needs to go away PERMANENTLY!
I bet if he went back to WWE you would all mark for it.
chris is my hero and over the years has reinvented himself multiple times but now he needs to take some time off and think of some new character and gimmick. He can still go in the ring just needs some time off and can reinvent himself again. The Learning Tree is not going to be any good for him.
Chris Overplayed his trait of being able to reinvent himself too much I mean its okay if he reinvents himself but he has to stay away on TV. people are oversaturated with his face always on AEW TV.
Jericho trademarks 2345 nicknames and marks mistake it for “reinventing”. Bunch of fools
After the whole footage debacle I'm just done with AEW altogether. They had me and then lost me, I can't stand Tony Khan and his sheer stupidity along with Jericos's lack of self-awareness
What about the fuer with Adam Cole?
The beginning of the Inner Circle was really awesome with Jericho but after that there wasn't much happening with him where I said, I was glad that Jericho was part of it.
In the 5 years of AEW, the ONLY wrestler to come out of a Jericho angle not having their career hurt is MJF.
i dont usually agree with a lot of your videos, especially on AEW but this is spot on
Hulk Hogan 2 over here lol
Jericho needs to just do guest commentary!
Jericho in AEW was my favorite AEW championship run. Didn‘t watch the product lately, but if he is champions again, I will watch again.
As a huge kenny fan, I forgot that WreslteDream match ever happened
He's not destroying his legacy. We're long past that. It's destroyed. Now we're just seeing how much deeper he can bury it.
Jericho's social media antics and Kylie Rae incident made him more unlikeable as of late, at least for me.
TOP3WRESTLING BACK AGAIN
Jericho being around isn’t the worst thing in the world if they used him right. I feel like it’s a mix of a bunch of thing especially Khan being a huge mark and Jericho starting to get into his own head and listening to his ego a lot more.
Jericho is great at doing slight changes to make everything fresh but his new gimmicks of sorts have all been just lateral movements rather than his slight upgrades like “List of Jericho”, his slow talking, Codebreaker and savior.
Him having a faction isn’t bad like Inner Circle which turned into JAS I think are good factions but there’s a lot of rehashing I mean JAS is just a slightly different Inner Circle. It’s really only a recent thing where we have been seeing him try and attach himself to a younger talent in order to maintain relevancy in the vain of brining up younger talent when it doesn’t nothing but just hurt Jericho.
Now with this Learning Tree gimmick/faction, it’s really dumb why would you want to lean into the things people hate about you unless he’s doing it on purpose to be a heel the way Cody was being a heel by not turning heel. Should have just let Big Bill do his own thing or maybe even stay a team with Ricky Starks since they were actually pretty good together. Him trying to bring HOOK in when HOOK himself has been stuck doing the same thing ever since he debut wasn’t the best thing to do.
Look at things the feuds would have been better if they ended sooner, like if HOOK just beat him and left it at that it would be ok. Honestly should have just let HOOK stay FTW champion if he is going to leave or not. Its a title created by his father and its should be doing the same it did for Taz, be a championship to elevate HOOK since he isnt getting shots at other titles instead having loss and regain the title is pointless while its an unsanctioned title
He has become what he hated about WCW he has become the old white guy that won't leave and buries young guys.
I will say with lionheart, seeing the old lion covers from wcw is pretty cool. Always will be a Jericho fan, but it’s getting old man.
Chris Jericho Shiuld just retire He did everything that needs to be done he is a legend he did pretty much everything
Yet to win a rr
@@ravindunethsara7857 hence why i said pretty much anything all he didnt do is win the rumble and mitb thkse are the only two acomlishments he need but he has enough to retire he has nothing left to prove
Jericho was nowhere near #1 in WCW and was always at most 4th or 5th best in WWE throughout any of his runs. But in AEW, he can make himself taller by standing on the corpses of other talents pushes. Also, Jericho is now 8 years OLDER than Hogan was during his peak burial phase in WCW
Eddie Kingston wouldn’t be television anyway. What would beating Jericho do for him? Takeshita hasn’t been elevated by anyone, and neither has Hook. They didn’t just feud with Jericho
chris jericho is turning into an old shovel, hes about to find himself in a jeff jarrett kinda way lol
Hey, it's the modern-day "That doesn't work for me, brother," Hulk Hogan! Hey, Hogan played bass in a band, and Jericho tried his best with his band Fozzy. The similarities are kinda there.
I get why Jericho wins because they wanna make it mean something when he puts someone over. Not saying i agree with that I'm just saying that's why he's on the bullshit he's on now.
Let’s not forget that Jericho derailed Stark’s push and almost killed MJF’s AEW career if MJF wasn’t able to turn it around cause every other wrestlers couldn’t
Because Max had the best feud in company history afterwards
Jericho is an actual genius.Let me explain. Vince forsaw the things happening with him so he sent his best agent Jericho to help and make the potential competition so when he went under,he unstructed jericho to bring down the competition which by that point was the only real one, thus insuring that WWE stays protected even when he is gone. I mean Vince wasnt eve mad at Jericho leaving, hell he let him go. Think of it like Dumbbledore(Vince) and Snape(Jericho). He was sent to the enemy to protect WWE(Harry).
I honestly love the learning tree gimmick (delusional face), and it would be perfect transition for him to become a manger from a wrestler.
Tony is a jealous ex that once to try and bring pain to the ones who cross him. Hook isn’t going to stay. They have messed up Hook’s growth since the beginning. He needs to leave and I think his Dad is influencing that.
Weather you like him or not he's a top guy in AEW. That says everything you need to know about AEW and why their ratings on going lower and lower.
First I hated this angle. Now this week has me intrigued as Jericho knows 100% what is being said and this week he seemed to be leaning into it. I now want to see where this goes. He’s still currently cringe but let’s see where this goes this month.
Jericho was the right guy to be the first AEW World Champion..
He’s been pretty terrible since then & is long overdue a break from TV & so are the fans ..
He hasn’t gotten anyone over ..
Some of the cringiest segments ..
Terrible factions ..
And don’t get me started on the multiple failed attempts at new “monikers” ..
Honestly with reports of Hook thinking about free agency, i was waiting to see if Hook beats Jericho and since he did Hook's definitely leaving
Jeff Jarrettcho
Jericho thinks he’s Ric Flair, but he’s just the old guy who swears he can still do it so people let him pretend and clap.
It’s only cus he’s fat if he was in shape like 10 years ago no one would be complaining
Jericho booked EVERYTHING himself 😂 he probably had a creative control clause in his contract 😂😂😂
It’s the same as the Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Triple H, The Rock, Young Bucks, Kenny Omega problems what a shocker
This has been a bit of a talking topic quite recently
Calling his faction the Jericho Appreciation Society was the moment I definitely knew he’d gone too far and had too much power.
Has?! No no no they have had this problem
The only reason is because if Kylie Ray us the biggest reason why he’s being getting hate even though he’s been having some awesome in ring matches
Kingston gets a big win every day on TV at the buffet table
Jericho should maybe refrain from wrestling, maybe be a manager, or be the commissioner on dynamite.
Jericho became what he hated
I remember these fans of 'real wrestling' saying the same thing about Cody.
AEW shows are like a daycare for incels.
The disrespect on Jericho. It's sad.
Hook to NJPW he'd be great to learn under Suzuki
Why do I have a feeling that in a few months we will see HOOK making his debut in NXT?
Doubtful. They wouldn't book Hook like he was a 6' 5", 300 lb guy anymore.
@@williamseneyjr.6277 It would be great to see him being booked as the type of professional wrestler he really is.
I mean he did start the Jericho appreciation society not the Jericho society doesn't that say it all
I’m sorry but I would not give A RIP about AEW if it wasn’t for Chris Jericho. Opponents like Hook, Eddie Kingston, etc. were only relevant in the grand scheme of things because they feuded with him. Let us Jericho fans enjoy him while he’s still around.
I don’t see a real issue with Jericho beating Hook for the title. It frees Hook up from the championship and keeps it relevant going forward by giving it to one of the bigger names in the company. I’d rather he took a long break too but as far as people to transition the belt to, he was a solid choice.
AEW really is WCW, Jericho is Hogan, Kingston is Macho Man, MJF is Sting, and all the great people we wanna see are the cruiser weights we actually wanna see but they can move up the card.
AEW is nowhere near WCW. WCW was actually competition to WWE compared to AEW. Plus MJF has his own gimmick.
