Man, that reminds me of losing my favorite aunt, Lee Memone. Sadly, she passed away on Mother's Day! I really do miss her, because she's responsible for making me smile and laugh on my birthday in Oatman or Kingman, Arizona. In a old-school wild west, cowboy-themed town.

I don't even know his rank but his name was Felix Rodriguez Gonzalez born in Bad Axe Michigan.

Indeed the "Forgotten War" I had my '45 GPW at a car show, with markings, gear, & me in uniform. An old boy who was in Korea was quite moved... then started to tell me about the war. I told him I'd been airborne infantry & he really kicked into gear!!! He was 187th Airborne RCT & had done BOTH combat jumps. What a lesson for me, we talked for over two hours, including how they dropped jeeps, supplies.
You place looks great, a best buddy from my paratrooper days lives in Colorado Springs, we'll have to visit!!! Maybe I'll have my 1/187th GPW

My Grandpa was in the Korean War. A Grenade went off next to him, blew his ear drums out, left his back full of Shrapnel and he couldn’t walk. He was carried by another soldier and my Grandpa said had it not been for that Man carrying him out he would have died. Makes me thankful, to whoever carried off my Grandfather.

Great to see some Korean war recognition. My father served on our small carriers the HMAS melbourne and HMAS Sydney. He was BCOF stationed in Japan. Met some of his army mates who were badly injured in the battle of Kapyong defending thier Bren gun pits against wave upon wave of fresh Chinese troops. Naturally this war always had a big impact on me and it's not often you see any sort of recognition of it, especially here in Australia

First time I saw the old MASH movie, I was puzzeld wich war it depicted. I was in 7th grade back then. It seemed a lot like WW2 but the Helicopters made no sense in that context. I asked my dad and he told me about korea. He was shocked that I had not learned that back in school.

My father never wanted my to go into military service, and he never talked about his experiences to me. I would like to know what weapon he would have used at that time. Someone told me it was a standard issue rifle with a long range scope. That was it. After seeing this video now, I kinda see why. Anybody knows any links to help me get information on the subject?

Only with todays youth would the Korean war be forgotten. This days youth are worse than the ones during the Vietnam war. The Vietnam war is the war that is close to my heart. The veterans got a really raw deal. They came home from a war that most did not want. These vets were spit upon and called baby killers by ingrates. The VA hospital does not take care for these vets like they should. My mother was a welder in WW2, in the shipyard in TItusville Fl. So all vets are awesome, Just Vietnam vets are just more special to me. Since I grow up in that error. They are just awesome. I had two brothers serving in the Vietnam war. I am 56 years of age .I was the baby. Shalom Alecheim

@@FORWARDxUNTOxAWESOME Capitalism is neutral, it can be good and it can be bad, its all on how its regulated.
If Capitalist Amazon can buy up the free market place then yes capitalism is bad, but again, you need to regulate capitalism. But if you look closely on which political spectrum the people who use capitalism to buy up the free market place (creating monopoly) then you will be disappointed, it’s the left wing side.
But hey, look at my country Norway which is a capitalistic country, we have regulations that force compains to pay a fair salary.

Another way you can tell between a WWII M1 Helmet pot and a later one is if the seam on the rim is on the front or back. If it is on the front it is early to mid WWII (1942-1944), if it is on the rear, then it is late WWII (1945) and on wards. The fixed bail (in which you are talking about) was made only in the earlier parts of WWII. They soon changed to swivel bales because the fixed bales broke off often. This change happened around 1943. I do agree that soldiers in Korea did get the old WWII items, such as helmets! Great museum and maybe if I am in that area I will come and visit!
