No doubt , just the fact of knowing you are hearing Stairway to heaven in its birthplace! Gawd just so epic!!! And to think they had no idea how huge of an iconic song they we’re playing with!!! I still remember the first time hearing and switching this. My mind still hasn’t taken it all in.

The fuzzy look of this old Super 8 film reminds me of a time when none of us really knew that much about Zeppelin, despite their fame and popularity.. They did very little press and remained mysterious for the longest time.. That only deepened my fascination about band and allowed my imagination to take over..
With today's "in your face" promotion, you never really get the chance to HEAR the music before someone has flooded your mind with images and trivial, sometimes bullshit information..

    • @annabv55

That’s very true. Much of the information we know are delivered by groupies and roadies which is not necessarily the most reliable source.

That early 70's rock sound. Too bad, it has disappeared. We may never get it back. So raw. So genuine. True musicianship. Gone...because simple tastes...and dollars have taken over the industry. Sure do miss that 70's sound.

    • @charlesdjones1
      @charlesdjones1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Will never forget Robin Thicke bragging about he only had to spend 30 minutes in the studio to do an entire albums vocals because the guy they called the producer already created all the sounds on the beat machine.. I was like what kind of world do we live when people brag about so little heart and effort going into something? And you wonder why people despise today's music so much.

@starbucksguitar 1 "Dollar's have always taken over the music industry.." True. Dollars have allways taken everything and will take if we let them.
However, there is still music outside, music which doesn't need industry to exist.
One can not have everything: if you want to make good musik - just make it. If you like to hear good music just look for it.
But if you want as musician to have a mansion and a Rolls or two - don't whine about evil dollars.
And if you want as a listener to hear music made by jet set and are ready to buy such a music - don't ask yourself where music has gone. Look deep into your own ass. You'll find it there.

@@renemagritte8237 preach!!!!👍🏼 I started listening to Led Zeppelin as a young teenager because what was being played wasn’t as good. I was musical at a young age. If you want to listen to the boppy, marketed stuff, that’s ok but recognize it for just that and don’t complain, just go back to the good stuff when you need good music and want to hear real talent.

@@michcamaro71 ~~ boppy - poppy - and MASS-marketed stuff - written to sell cars, soda pop & pizza as much as downloads & concerts for the artist - whereas back in the early 70's - Zep was so miffed about dumb, unfair reviews of Led Zep 3 - that for the 4th record - the band's name did not even appear anywhere on the outer jacket - not even on the spine - in fact no words at all - just the picture - they let what was inside speak for itself - and it spoke loud & clear - to the whole world.

3 years after this was shot.. I met Robert for the first time at the Lafayette club in Wolverhampton.. We were both there to see Bill Haley and his comets.. Rob was stood next to me and we got chatting and I got him to autograph my lafayette membership card.. 2nd time was at kinver golf club where he was performing as The Honeydrippers.. He came and sat at our table and as I was out celebrating the birth of my daughter (wetting the baby's head we brits call it) I had 3 or 4 pints lined up in front of me bought by others. Rob was he up about to go to the bar and I said here have o of these rob to which he gratefully accepted since then I've seen him a few times at a pagan green man festival spoke once at one.. Interesting to think how, had it stayed in that sort of form, 'Stairway' wouldve still been considered a gem of 70s rock n roll, however, through divine inspiration or sheer chipping away, they crafted it into possibly the most timeless and perfect recording of all time. You can find on youtube loads of variations from these sessions, but the final result is utterly, exquisitely perfect from the note choice and performance of every member to the ambient reverbs used on each instrument, Stairway just encapsulates this transcendent, otherwordly feeling from start to finish that will never be matched

All the guys look like kids in this film ... I was nine years old when this was shot - all through the 70's Zeppelin just kept it coming! A great era for music ... there hasn't been a good album put out since 1974 (says the old guy).

    My mind is blown....
1970 is about the time in my life I put these guys on the top of my rocknroll pedestal.....
Turns out they were just like normal rock dudes I grew up with. Seattle 1974

No. This is Headley Grange in Hampshire- goo.gl/maps/z2jufB3gxPswAPxRA (it's not the one marked, it's actually the one to the south- the one with the tennis court).

This should be in the National archives. Arguably the greatest rock song ever written being formed. They'll listen to this in the future and go, WTF! Maybe the future is now.
