What I like most about Jimmy is that he’s clever. He reminds me of the old comedian Bob Monkhouse. Sure a lot of his comedy is just filth, vulgarity and being offensive (which is hilarious), but he’s fast and clever. He has an answer to every heckle. When he’s on TV shows, he has a joke for every occurrence. I also like it that he clearly enjoys when people have a go back at him. He seems to enjoy being roasted in return.
I thought Monkhouse was funny, but Jimmy is another level for me.
@@christopherdavis4135 agreed. It’s just that Jimmy reminds me of Monkhouse with his speed and joke for every occasion.
Thing I love is that he roasts everyone no matter what, and takes it back when it happens, thats the best!
I love Jimmy. He’s unapologetically offensive and that makes him hilarious.

I love Jimmy Carr! He is brutal. He also has this openness with the audience where they feel they can chime in anytime they want and he'll respond immediately. It's like the audience and him are at the pub just hanging out. He always stays after the show and will talk to his fans and write autographs until every single one that wants to has had some time with him personally. That is incredible to me cause after standing in the spotlight for 1-2 hours you just want to take a shower and chill right?
The late, great Sean Lock is my favourite. He was always seen as the comedian's comedian 😅

Hi Amanda. I've seen Jimmy Live, and he totally outrageous, but incredibly funny. He did a meet n greet after the show where he is a completely different person. Dead nice and polite. Keep up the awesome work. 👍

He is a brilliant comedian and the master of dealing with hecklers. And he is willing to meet his fans afterwards. He is the sort of comedian that is needed to push against the offended. Talking of which, watch Steve Hughes Offended sketch. Very on the button and very funny

If you like slightly surreal humour, Amanda, you'll love The Goons. Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe being unashamedly silly in 1950s radio style lol.
I hated Spike Milligan, finding him as funny as the rest of the aptly named Goons. So... he called Prince Charles a "grovelling bastard" at the awards ceremony. Big whoopee.
Spike Milligan was never funny, to me. The Goons were awful. Makes me cringe.
Like Marmite, you'll love him or hate him, but without Spike Milligan, you'd not have any of the comedy of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Spike was a mould breaker. Personally, I think he was a genius. Love the Goons. Got most of his books. His TV series Q was insane. May he rest in peace.

For me, Jimmy is probably the greatest comedian I know. He is highly offensive and absolutely hilarious. And I love watching Amanda's reactions to his jokes, those moments when you know you should be offended but are too busy laughing!

I think it was Jimmy Carr (but I could be wrong) 🙂 who said "you can't give offence, you can only take offence" meaning, I suppose, that the joke is just the joke. Some people may feel offended and some won't. Keep up these good reviews / reactions Amanda. 🙂

The older generation in Britain joke about anything and everything. We use comedy as a sword and shield. We do know the difference between comedy and reality though.

Also I think part of his success is due to how he looks. By that he looks almost like prototypical English Upper Middle Class gentleman & hence you don’t expect him to say the stuff he does.

Sex and sexuality are pretty common subjects in British stand-up comedy, Jimmy is a bit more explicit then most, but the British public knows what it gets and finds is mostly very funny. He is way more rude when he takes on other people with his jokes, well, roasts.

Jimmy's thing works because deep down he has no actual hate or disdain towards 99.9% of the people or groups of people that he roasts. If he was an actual misogynist or a racist we'd end up feeling it through the jokes and his negative biais towards monorities etc would have killed his carreer early

He crosses the lines set by the pc crowd constantly and his comedy is all the better for it. We have very few British comedians left that aren't afraid to go "too far" Leo Kearse and Ricky gervaisare the only ones now. Frankie Boyle has gone a little strange in recent years.
that's not to say we still have some brilliant acts, such as Sarah Millican and Russel Howard.
