Amanda, I was lucky enough to see Jimmy Carr live and even got to meet him afterwards. I love his comedy because although he is saying some of the most offensive things, I find that he does it in a non-offensive way because he is simply exploring the act of offending people rather than saying anything that he actually believes. He was such a nice guy when I chatted with him. Offstage he is a really genuine nice guy.

You do have a very sexy voice, if my wife just said 'goodnight' with that voice, she would probably end up claiming that she had a headache or I would have one the next morning... and crawl to work.
What I love about this kind of humor, it's humor. We might have all different tastes in humor, but he's simply up there telling jokes. And that's all they are. It has something pure to it
I happened to meet him after a show, always has a signing session afterwards and had a little chat and he is genuinely a really nice guy, very humble and loves his fans :)
Having seen Jimmy Carr more than 10.times live on stage, it is his comic style and the way he tells jokes that make him stand out. Yes, his jokes are near the mark and edgy, but comedy is meant to be edgy. Jokes test your conscience while you laugh. And I have to commend you for your comments during the video as they were spot on. You found the jokes funny, but it was also the shock factor. A great video. Also, having met Jimmy Carr after a gig a few years ago, he is a nice person who makes a lot of time for his fans
Loved it even more by being an American with an obviously good vein for dark humour. Thanks for the reaction. (And thank god for comedians like Jimmy Carr who are just soo good at making people laugh).
"I cannot believe he just said that!" And then you spoiled the anguish by snorting again! Amanda, you are just priceless, you make my day - pure loveliness in a video! And Billy Connolly is the numero uno - if you can find his stand-up on the Whoopi Goldberg show you will laugh and laugh and laugh. Sincerely.
I'm Scottish (and British, referring to another one of Amanda's videos) and, funnily enough, my (Texan) wife's favourite two comedians are Jimmy Carr and Billy Connolly.
He's genuinely one of the best comics this country has produced, he tends to provide more context before the "Did he just say that" line that a bunch of clips don't show. But he also just goes for the jugular on many occasions!
@@terrenceverheul7421 Sorry, I was referring to stand up comedy (I did not make that clear) and you make a great point with Billy Connelly who was awesome at his best. Python, Atkinson and Laurie were excellent on TV and stage performing sketches, but are not in the same league at stand up.
I just LOVED the way that Amanda`s expressions changed during this video, when she heard some of these "Jokes" from Jimmy, she had a look of horror on her face, but five seconds later she was laughing as much as any of us who were watching these clips. Which simply proves that she a wicked sense of fun as well being shocked at some of the content. She is a REAL STAR

Hi Amanda, no that's him at his most offensive. He does have an amazing rapport with his audience members in most of his stand-up and his come backs to hecklers are legendary.
After about 200 hours of watching Jimmy Carr footage, I finally realized that the reason why he can get away with it is he says things that take the edge off a little if the reaction to the punchline suggests that the audience was not taking it well
Amanda, I was absolutely wetting myself watching your expressions , giggles, shock, horror, laughs, even a snort. Jimmy Carr is very very no limits for a laugh......but you definitely were the star watching this reaction. Best reaction video I’ve seen ever as you basically reacted as we all did watching him.. Thank you for this comedy gold, your expressions mimicked us all as we watched 😂👍🏻
In his shows, he does normal story telling comedy, then drops one of these bombs in. Or he will just start mild and work his way up until he loses the crowd. Also, his dealing with hecklers is legendary.
Amanda, you really know how to pick the good ones. Well done 🙂🙂 xx He is brutal and that's why we love him and lm proud Australian. If you don't like his jokes, don't watch or listen. 😆😆😆😆 life is too short soo let's just have a laugh at what's soo wrong 😄😄😄😄
Love Jimmy Carr. Love the fact he isn't afraid to upset the politically correct and woke. He did a show for injured soldiers. He said "Hey!! We'll have a great paralympic team". He was castigated by the left wing and liberals. The soldiers loved it and invited him back. He now does a free show for them every year. Respect to Jimmy.
Love Jimmy Carr too but, mate, saying the castigation was by the "left wing and liberals" is just your own personal bias. There were plenty of right wing Karens that took offence too (Daily Mail, The Mirror etc) but, yeah, no squaddies that I know of. Plus he turned out to be right in the end.
I think Jimmy is hysterical. Never heard a joke where I thought, “he’s gone too far”…ever. That’s mostly because I understand that he is a comedian; he’s telling jokes. They’re jokes. I’m a liberal, and I get it. I’m tired of cancel culture threatening people for practicing their craft. You don’t like it, don’t watch. I feel that’s pretty simple, easy to execute.
You have some of the best audio on TH-cam. Many many channels could take a lesson from you! Your voice comes across as clean and smooth without any distortion or echos at all. Amazing.
He is literally one of the funiest people alive. To top it off he is highly intelligent. He does his jokes as pure shock value, He doesn't trueley believe in what hes saying, if he did it wouldn't be funny. he is also extremely quick witted. If you see any of his live shows where he deals with hecklers, he deals with them on the fly and its a different joke every time.
Just a little background for you - Jimmy trained to be a priest and was celibate until the age of 26... As you can see, he's given up on that now. Personally I think he's at his best presenting 8 out of ten cats / does countdown and Big fat quiz. Just look up the Suzie Dent Glory Hole joke for a prime example of what he can do to room by accident.....
Amanda, I love you, you fully understand the meaning of the word JOKE ! Whether its funny or on the edge of unbelievable, you laugh. There are way too few of people like you, and way too many that have to take offence on behalf of others. Keep doing what you are doing.
As some others have almost certainly said, he makes a point of saying that they are just jokes and that is all. It is escapism and when you are at a comedy gig, it is like you have carte blanche to laugh at anyone and everyone being ripped to shreds. I have seen him live loads of times and he always tests the audience to see where the limit is. No show is the same though, not even on the same tour, which is why he is one of my favourite stand-ups. He and Dara O'Briarn who is imo, the best at ad-lib at his gigs, especially when he interacts with the audience. Genius!
ive recentlly discovered your channel, youve got a really chill voice to listen to, and your reactions watching these comedians are awesome. keep it up.
You should do a Sean Locke reaction as a tribute. Or if you liked the Jimmy Carr offensive jokes, Jimmy Carr heckle put downs or Jimmy Carr introducing people on cats does countdown are always great
sean lock always made me laugh and he still does when i watch his videos on youtube as well as when he made everybody lose it on the big fat quiz of the year 2008
I am a huge fan of Jimmy Carr. It was really fun to watch this and see your reactions. Jimmy is brilliant, especially improvising with the audience. This was great. Thank you. Hugs from Portugal.
Jimmy Carr is almost always that offensive, but I appreciate how he’s willing to be on the edge, constantly. “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown” is hilarious, and has introduced me to some great British comedians. Personal favs are James Acaster, Sarah Millikan, Joe Lycett, Jon Richardson, Joe Wilkinson and Sean Lock. Greg Davies’ impression of boxer Chris Eubank is comedy gold, (but be sure to pair it with the follow-up episode)!
Have to agree mate freaking brilliant show, have to watch via TH-cam in the US. I was absolutely gutted when Sean passed what an amazing talent and gent of a guy.
Part of what Jimmy Carr does is what is called "Paraprosdokians" - where the final part of the sentence/joke changes how you interpret what came before. It's an interesting way to do shock humour as it's not making light of the subject matter, it's all about the gap with the audience expectations. I don't know if you could find a good Emo Phillips video, but that was very much his style and some of his material was similarly dark "My schoolmates would make love to anything that moved, but I never saw any reason to limit myself." I'll be honest, I prefer the likes of Ed Byrne and Dara O'Brien to Jimmy Carr, but I don't think their material does so well when edited down, a lot of Carr's stuff works as isolated clips
This is (a great!) compilation of his most offensive jokes, so I think you're saying its a bit much is a bit unfair because theyre interspersed with a bunch of less/not-at-all offensive jokes, which lessen the overall shock-jock effect. His 'offensive' jokes are always very clever riffs on society's taboos. Jimmy C is so clever and quick and funny!
Do you know what I love…. It’s not the jokes… or your reaction… it’s the effort you put into your videos… there’s great lighting, a two camera set up that you use when you turn to talk at the end, there’s decent sound…. And you even jump in and out for alternate takes. I’m a video editor by trade, so it’s just nice to see the effort.

I saw him live a bit ago in Denmark and one of the things he talked about it that he's not really afraid of being cancelled, he knows it will happen and that the joke that will do it is already out there on The Internet. It's number 5 on this list.
Channel 4 in the UK have given him more shows since all of this. 🤣 They love it because it's jokes. It's those that act whiter than white and are actually found out to be nasty that will get cancelled imo.

Great review. I never heard any of these jokes before, so they had there effect. My head was in my hands with shock at some of them. As far as other comedians, I still think the late Dave Allen was amongst the best. His Tv programmes were a staple on BBC for year. He was a lapsed Catholic so is jokes at the religions expense were so memorable, I look forward to your next vid. Best Wishes
My favourite comedian is Dave Allen from his TV show from the 90's, he's a must watch, my other is Ronnie Barker, being totally honest never found Jimmy Carr that funny.
Amanda, Jimmy is a true comedy genius. He does what he does to make you go "eurggh". That is his angle, his onscreen persona. I noticed that some of his lines totally went over your head, maybe because you were not a native of the UK and did not understand the references or maybe becasue the American level of humour is a lot more literal. As a Brit who lives in America I notice that your greatest comedians on a cerebral level, where you have to actually think, are not as celebrated as your more in your face comedians.
his humour is ‘left turn humour’. You’re going down the road to the destinations Jimmy Carr sets up and suddenly you take a left turn and you laugh because you didn’t see it coming (although you probably should have). It’s the unexpected. And half of it is funny because you KNOW it’s going to be crass, but you don’t know how he’s going to sell it. He’s absolutely brilliant.
The guy is a genius, and your reaction is exactly what he was looking for!! "Did you just say that?" is what Jimmy is about. Great bloke... he just likes to sit on that ledge!!!!!
Jimmy Carr isn't "British humour". There are thousands of other British comedians. It isn't "graveyard humour". Graveyard humour is when YOU are dying and while you are dying you make jokes about it.
His motivation is to mess with your head. He’ll make you laugh, initially, only to then make you think, 'I shouldn’t really have laughed at that' He mines grey areas, but I’m not saying he’s into fucking seniors ...😮
When you realise that EVERYTHING HE MAKES FUN OF IS REAL !!! Then, you reach to the conclusion that he's not offensive at all. He just tells REAL stuff that happends every day to people, with people ! ... :-)
To be honest, Billy Connolly is very funny but he is not a joke teller, he tells funny stories and acts them out but Jimmy car is a proper stand up comedian. I remember sitting down with my (now late) fiancée, whom had disclosed to me she had been raped months prior to our getting together, to watch a TV show of one of his tour dates. There was a screen up scrolling through some one liners in his style, and the last one before he was introduced onto stage was, “What’s worse than finding a worm in your apple?”, followed by, “Being raped.” I was ready to miss some great comedy, and for a few seconds I was reaching for the remote, and bless her, after the initial shock, she burst out laughing. Very “close to the mark” comedy sometimes, and that’s Me saying with absolutely no taboos in humour….

I doubt I'm the only one that would love to see Jimmy Carr do The Aristocrats. I also doubt he could do it without cracking but that's part of the fun.

I've always considered him one of the best comics ever, of any country. I'm not from the UK

@Soul of a robot Professionally offended alert.
Jimmy being less offensive but very funny as Host of "8 out of 10 Cats Do Countdown" with his hilarious put-downs of his guests...
I mean his glory hole joke to Susie Dent sure is as insane as anything he does in his stand up.
As some others have almost certainly said, he makes a point of saying that they are just jokes and that is all. It is escapism and when you are at a comedy gig, it is like you have carte blanche to laugh at anyone and everyone being ripped to shreds. Sean Lock is one of my favourite comedians. Some of his stuff was comedy gold. I love to watch all of his material. The world lost a beautiful man. 😢
Part of what Jimmy Carr does is what is called "Paraprosdokians" - where the final part of the sentence/joke changes how you interpret what came before. It's an interesting way to do shock humour as it's not making light of the subject matter, it's all about the gap with the audience expectations. I don't know if you could find a good Emo Phillips video, but that was very much his style and some of his material was similarly dark
"My schoolmates would make love to anything that moved, but I never saw any reason to limit myself."
I'll be honest, I prefer the likes of Ed Byrne and Dara O'Brien to Jimmy Carr, but I don't think their material does so well when edited down, a lot of Carr's stuff works as isolated clips
is right, we are spoon fed carr, a real product of media, scripts, emo should not be mentioned in the same sentence as this stepford puppet.
Jimmy C is so clever and quick and funny!

his humour is ‘left turn humour’.
