- Get ready for an epic pizza tour across Buenos Aires! Today we’re bringing you a food challenge that only my pizza-loving husband could have thought up. With only a couple of days left in Argentina, Sam asked, “Audrey, what if we only ate pizza for 48 hours?” And thus began our quest to eat at some of the best pizzerias in Buenos Aires! Are we even surprised here?
Pizza in Buenos Aires is pretty iconic given the waves of Italian immigration Argentina experienced from the late 19th to mid 20th century and today that translates into some excellent pizzerias across the city. How convenient that this also happens to be Sam’s favourite food!
We visited a total of 5 pizzerias over the course of 48 hours sampling a minimum of 4 slices at each place. It was quite the challenge, but one we were happy to take on.

My birthdays have always been fairly low-key, especially since I'm not a party person. My mom and I usually find a mom & pop restaurant and enjoy a quiet meal together, and that's enough. Today will be the third birthday in a row that we haven't been able to do that (the flu from hell in 2019 and the pandemic last year and this year), and I was feeling a little melancholy. Then I opened up youtube and found your latest video and the melancholy was gone. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you two amazing people - I miss Argentina desperately, and I'm always excited to see it again through your camera lens. As an added bonus, you took me along on two DAYS' worth of pizza (thanks, Sam!). Your B-roll footage is always great, and you had some spectacular shots of the interior of Banchero. Thank you for posting this video and giving me the gift of an armchair return to one of my favorite countries in the world.

The saddest thing is I'm pretty sure we've accidentally only ate Pizza for 48 hours without a challenge in place! 😂 Looks like the Pizza scene is alive and well in Argentina! 🍕

Mi papá trabajó muchos años en Las Cuartetas, y después abrió su propia pizzería cerca de casa (vivíamos en el conurbano). Casi 20 años después de dejar Las Cuartetas, fuimos a comer unas pizzas después de ir al teatro, y los mozos lo reconocieton!! Lo saludaron con mucho cariño, nos atendieron super bien, y por supuesto "INVITA LA CASA". Un recuerdo hermoso!
My dad worked many years at Las Cuartetas, and then he opened his own pizzeria near our home (we lived in the suburbs). Nearly 20 years after leaving Las Cuartetas, we went to have some pizzas after going to the theater, and the waiters recognized him!! They greeted him warmly, took great care of us, and of course, "IT'S ON THE HOUSE". A heartwarming memory!

Pizza is not something you can eat on that scale, but Argentine pizza is definitely delicious.
I tried 3 of the 4 pizzerias you went. I was born in Buenos Aires city and used to go to the same pizzerias. Never went to La Cuartetas. My favorite is the traditional mozzarella with nothing else.
It’s difficult to say which is best. My strategy is to rotate and don’t stay in only one taste.

Beatiful pizzas, guys, and in the best places in Buenos Aires to eat them. One important fact is the difference between argentinian pizza and the italian one. The italian pizza's dough is very flat and slightly baked, so you have to fold it in order to eat it. Argentinian style - pizza a la piedra (stone made pizza) - renders a crunchy dough. Having tasted both, I prefer argentininan pizza. Cheers !!!

In the 70s, the Globe Chinese restaurant in Oshawa ON, used to be right downtown next to the theatres that were there, and there was and old gentleman waiter there, who took your order without writing it down, and even if you had a dozen folk at the table, he never got anything wrong.

I wouldn't worry about it Sam. Back in the day, one of my favourite meals was....Convenience store "pizza", deep fried in a chip pan, with chips, "fries", smothered in vinegar and then cut up and eaten between to slices of buttered bread.....The Carbs, oh the Carbs

Wow! Sounds like the Argentines are VERY imaginative when it comes to pizza topping creations based on Audrey's description of her piece of pizza with Matambre at the end of the video. Also I've never heard about chickpea bread/ toast being served with pizza before. It all sounds very interesting (and filling)!

Las Cuartetas is the best Mozza pizza in the world and if you think that was too much mozza, you should know you have the option to add an extra portion of it to your pizza!!

Hi guys, incredible video, that's all the classic pizzerias in Avenida Corrientes but Buenos Aires have another incredibles place to eat pizza like "El Fortin" in Devoto, "El Imperio de la Pizza" in Chacarita, "La Mezzeta" (the best fuggazzeta), "El Cedron" in Mataderos and Pin Pun also in Avenida Corrientes.
