Just did it on mine. It’s not the power that it adds ( a claimed 1 to 3hp) but it is the way the power is delivered. Couple this with disconnecting the K-tric wire ( per Pete’s advise) and boom, a whole new beast ! Thanks for your video. Watched it once and with in 10 minutes ( and one quick call to Pete as well) I was up and running...
👍 Very useful and clear instructions thanks. For those that don't have a Kawasaki service manual, 18.0 ft-lb torque wrench setting you mentioned for the Allen bolt refixing (which is equal to 26.0 N-m or 2.5 kg-m) is correct.
This video was really helpful, but one thing I wish was mentioned was the possibility of your stock cover gasket needing replacement. I'm obviously an amateur and didn't realize this, leading to a leak after reassembly because a couple pieces broke off on disassembly. I'd recommend ordering a replacement gasket and sticking that on after the install - better safe than sorry!
A normal, in traffic it just seems a little smoother. It's when you get into high revs where you can tell it pulls considerably harder and roll on's are more enthusiastic. It pulls harder near redline than it ever did before. I have not unplugged the Ktric as of yet. I'm happy with the addition.
Just did this same thing to mine seems to be a lot smoother as well but did a carb synch too. If you haven't yet looked at the clutch plate through your oil fill cap check that for a series of strikes from the starter chain tensioner. Pete has the best fix out there for that problem. If it grenades on you it will cost you a motor! It's cheap insurance. Lookup tension tamer.
This is not an up grade. It's just an after market part. 13 years 76,ooo miles never had a problem. Not needed at all. 4 degree advance starts at 4,000 rpm

No, it’s not NEEDED. But a 4 degree advance will definitely make a change for the better.
If it makes the bike run better then it’s a upgrade ….
Put it on my suzuki and it's a upgrade
