    This video helped me understand that the difference between 3/8 and 6/8 is that the first down beat has a stronger emphasis and if the song has its first down beat every 3 beats rather than every 6, then it is 3/8.

      Fantastic recap! Re-stating what you've learned is a great way to improve your comprehension and memory of that concept. Keep up the wonderful work!

    Thank you very much. This is soooo helpful. You have explained this step by step and very patiently. I want to fluently learn how to read sheet music. I can recognize space notes, line notes and write the A, B. C, E, F and G underneath most notes, I can recognize quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, quarter rests, half rests, full rests, eighth rests, sixteenth rests, dotted quarter notes, dotted half notes and write the beat numbers underneath the notes, I can recognize some dynamic markings, I can regonize some time signatures and some key signatures... I can some how read 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures and even those I could use some brushing up... But I need the most help with reading 6/8 time, 3/8 time, 12/8 time, 9/8 time etc.. And this has really helped. Thank u very much.

    Thank you. However, I do miss the 16th and 32nd notes. I need more in depth counting information to break down my Kuhlau sonatine where even 8th, 16th and 32nd notes are combined in one beat and I can’t find any useful info to help with that.

    how do you play (3+2)/8 time signature?

    • @Hoffmanacademy
      @Hoffmanacademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You mean 5/8 time signature? That just means there are five beats per measure, and an eighth note is one beat.

    please help to understand the difference between 3/4 and 3/8. please Sir

    • @Hoffmanacademy
      @Hoffmanacademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! The top number is how many beats there are per measure, and the bottom number is what kind of note counts as one beat. In both of those time signatures, you will have three beats per measure, but in 3/4, a quarter note counts as one beat, and in 3/8 an eighth note counts as one beat. I hope that helps!

    • @disciple678

    Wat is 3/6& 6/6?

    • @Hoffmanacademy
      @Hoffmanacademy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you mean 3/8 and 6/8? The note on the bottom is the kind of note that counts as 1 beat. There are quarter notes and 8th notes, but there aren't any 6th notes, so you won't ever see 3/6 and 6/6 time signatures. 3/8 time signature means there are 3 eighth notes per measure, and 6/8 time signature means there are 6 eighth notes per measure. I hope that helps!
