I’m halfway through and great demo so far! :) Since you never played a 5150 here are some notes if they can help: - On those amps, the pre gain is essentially just your gain knob and the post gain the is volume one of the channel you’re on, since there’s no overall master volume on a 5150. So the clean/rhythm channel has its own pre and post and the lead also has its own pre and post. It’s like the overdrive channel on an Orange Rockerverb for example. The post doesn’t add gain per se, but the more it’s loud, the more the power tubes cook :) - There’s no bright switch on the lead channel of the actual amp so that’s why, even if it’s on, as it’s a global setting on the pedal, you won’t hear a big difference on that channel. - The presence knob on the amp doesn’t really do shit below 2 o’clock lol But it’s cool that they kept it because that’s how the original amp was. Overall, even if the 5150 is not my favourite amp on the planet (I prefer the Peavey XXX or JSX), it’s still up there. It cuts so well in a band mix and also in recordings. It’s been mainly used for metal, but you’d be surprised how many punkrock/pop punk band used the 5150 in recordings ;) And also…back then, you could kick a 5150 or a XXX down 15 stairs and they would still work hahaha Old Peavey amps will outlive me for sure 😂
Good info. It actually sounds like how a SLO works. And yeah, old Peavey stuff is stupid strong. I've played at some NASTY old dive bars with peavey wedges on stage that are all beat to hell and reek of cigs and beer but still work perfectly fine. My old band about 15 years ago recorded an EP with Rick Beato at his place in ATL and he told us that basically every metal and heavy rock band tracks a 5150 somewhere in the mix.
YES! You can disable the cab simulation and send it to any external speaker sim/IR loader/power amp/etc you like. I've got a vid I did of the lion running into the OX Stomp and it sounds badass. This unit into the OX Stomp is no different but I also feel like this unit stands on it's own a bit better with it's built in cab sims than the Lion.
What I’ve started to notice is that the clipping isn’t present in my recording or in the video editing process and also not in the final rendered video. It only rears its head after it’s been uploaded to TH-cam. It also seems like there’s not really a rhyme or reason to when it happens.
Great sounding and riffing brother, thanks for reviewing this, greetings from Malaysia
Been looking at this pedal to use as an amp block in my TMP can you demo that? I love your TMP videos.
Also how does this compare to the high gain amps in the TMP I’m loving the sound of the anti on reviews

@@FastRedPonyCarWhat was your band name ?
50:00 this one rips
What was your signal chain?
Guitar to the ANTI then the delverb then stereo out to my interface.
Good in depth review. Have you played it through the OX pedal yet? I would like to see that, if possible.

Can't you hear the input clipping ? There is always this nasty crackling. Most noticeable on the rhythm channel.

Also, the rhythm channel is just clipping from the hot pickups. Its much cleaner with my Les Paul and Explorer
