Sounds great! I love my Fryette PS as well. I’ve been getting turned on to the Tokai brand. Do you have any suggestions for specific models or years for their Les Pauls? Anyone ones to stay away from? Thanks!
Honestly I'm not 100% up to speed on the other Tokai models. The reason I went with the LS-150 (not even sure if they still make this model) was because it was built essentially to "old gibson" specs with the proper headstock angle, deep tenon neck joint, no weight relief chambering, original gibson nitrocelluose formula finish, etc. Basically, it was as close to a Gibson R8 (which I played a few of before and after buying the Tokai) as I could get and at a fraction of the cost. I know that Tokai make or have made pretty much most popular styles of instruments and if you get one of them that is made in their Japan factory, you're almost guaranteed to receive an instrument that easily stands toe to toe with the best Prestige Ibanez guitars and the nice USA Gibsons. There's an official tokai guitars forum and I'm sure a facebook group too that I would suggest looking into if you're wanting more info on them.
They are VERY different units. I would say that although there is a mid gain crunch sound that both can achieve the structure of the sound of each unit is very different. The lion sounds much more natural doing a low to mid gain crunch, but does not have the tightness or top end cut that the ANTI has when pushing the gain higher. I think it really depends on what type of music you play which one will be best. Both are exceptional at delivering the types of sounds that the original amps were built to do, but there isn’t a whole lot of crossover between the two.
Loops are useless with these devices. I tested the IR-X and D with my Delverb in the loop and going after the pedal to my interface and the sound is the same. Guys have been running all their effects after rack preamps since the 80's. These amp-in-a-box units operate the same way.
@@FastRedPonyCar That's fair enough, did you happen to test irx effects loop with with a power amp / pedals and cabinet ? I wouldn't mind confirmation on this as this is how I would use it live.
Glad to see someone trying things like this!!
Sounds killer

@@FastRedPonyCar That’s awesome, thank you so much! I’ll check them out!
I you have to choose between Lion and anti? Thank for your video

Why no effects loop ? The Friedman IR-X seems way more appealing to me for this reason. It's a 2 channel amp in a box with an effects loop.

@@Lucas-KnifeHands Yeah pedal -> effects pedals -> Power amp -> Cab. I've done this tons of times and it works great.
