FULL SONG RECORDED FOR FUN AND GIGGLES. Changed some little things along the way, kept to the original as much as possible though!
People always ask how I got my strength up for downpicking, just practice this song and you'll get there. Shit's ridiculously hard and requires an insane amount of stamina when it's played as Hetfield plays it.
    Gear used:
    - Mayones Duvell Elite 6 string with Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickups
    - Line 6 Helix rack
Rhythms: Cali Recto model with Matching cab with SM57 and MD421 mics.
Cleans: Fender Deluxe model with 2 x 1x12 cabs with 4038 and 160 mics
Leads: Plexi model with greenback cab (can't remember what mics)
    - Steinberg Cubase 7
    - Toontrack Superior (4 instances for different parts of the kit)
    - Ampeg SVX
    - Warwick Corvette 5 string bass.

Brownie! I miss ya bud. Crushing video. Mad respect! This song is deceptively difficult to play. The downpicking is ridiculous on this song, and you clearly have it "mastered". Early Het is my Jesus.

+Keith Merrow Thanks man! Yeh it's not so much that each riff individually is hard, its just for 8 whole minutes it's hard! No idea how Het does this and sings too haha. Miss you too man! I'll see you soon no doubt!

+John Browne Yeah this song is like the right hand endurance test for metal guitar players. If you can make it through to the end without your wrist catching fire, you're ready for anything!

I think Paul Gilbert could give a try. He's been joking about himself, that he didn't know for years any other playing than down-strokes until he discovered up-strokes and was using only those for next few years until he realised that he can use both and this is how he's so good with alternate picking now :)

    • @romulo353
      @romulo353 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The tone is the simplest part in this, it's mostly gear: good Pick Ups, good cable, good amp sim, well adjusted guitar and then good post production which is gear again, some nice plugins for glueing everything together and handling dynamics I figure and then removing resonances with a nice EQ. Now the real hard part is technique stamina, and memory that's really, really tough.

Nice! I didn't see this coming. I see you got the rack mount now eh? Your last video helped me pull the trigger & buy the Helix myself. Sick playing as always Browne.

+John Browne yeah I used your method to dial in a pretty good tone for my 7 string. I've been diving deeper into your style of music. You've helped more than you know. Thanks for the response man.

All you guys care about is downpicking not realizing that what John achieved here was achieved by James Hetfield in the 1980s.
There are so many amazing guitarists who cant even think about playing this song in its entirety(lets not even talk about singing at the same time), try it if you want.
    James Hetfield is the Boss.

Browne, Love your tone. Ive heard you use an EQ pedal before most of your chain and that is ciritical to the tightness in the bass and low mid, also maybe if you were feeling charitable, I am having a hell of a time dialing in a tight sound with my 8 strings in drop E, even with some decent knowledge on signal paths and Line 6 gear, (I use the HD500X for the most part at my home studio)
