I was cracking a smile too. Then I read your comment and realize we must both have the same brand of humor. BTW, if you ever make and sell those bags I'd love to buy one.
Beauty mate. My dad was a tailor and use to make mans three piece suits, he still has the old Pfaff sewing machine. In all the time he has had it, it's never failed him ever.
Love you work Scott. Id recommend cutting the corner pieces out prior to assembly. This will allow you to assemble it without cutting through your stitch lines. I get that you are sewing over the cut lines in the end, but they will still be prone to unraveling without a back stitch. Keep up the great work, its a joy to watch.
It certainly has patina but it purrs when sewing (didn't when I first got it that's for sure). Oh it will make a nice project and I'll get another dung heap to fix up to make up for it :)
Never thought I'd be watching a sewing video... LOL... that was awesome... seems like all the cool guys are learning to sew now... even Alec Steele... :-)
Thanks for these last two videos Scott! I never realized we could make our own waxed canvas for bags and anything else we want. I look forward to trying this technique out! 😎😎😎
Scott Turner, как всегда посмотрел на одном дыхании все видео. Как всегда прекрасная работа!!! Поражаюсь Вашей разнообразной работой!!! Удачи Вам Скотт!!!
Nicely done! The possibilities are endless with that process. I've heard of similar process where you keep the canvas warm (Like a big "hot-plate" for cooking food) and spread the wax on, like a bar of soap. Keep up the good work! Derek
Thanks Derek! Totally agree, some sort of hot plate and heated squeeze roller would be great for this. My method is ok for these one of type jobs I guess.
Brilliant video Scott - you covered everything well. I have to give this a go. I've been wondering for ages how to make waxed canvas items (and I also have a ratty old sewing machine but it works well). Haven't sewed much since school, but the geometry, measuring and 3D thinking is very similar to wood and metalworking. A workshop apron would be a very cool project. You should sell those shower bags, I reckon you'd get a few buyers! Cheers, Craig
Thanks Craig! Yes has a lot of commonality with other forms of fabrication, but less noise and dust. I'll put them on my web site and see how they go. Cheers and all the best!
Well what do you know. I've been making women's Steel-boned corsetry for the past 25 years and you actually taught me something i didn't know. Nice job mate :D
It would be possible with the right layout. You can experiment with paper cutouts (Patterns). The notches for me was trial and error. If they are square (all equal sides) the bag should be width/ height equidistant, or close to it.
Nice bag! I am going to give a whack at making something out of waxed canvas this winter. A shop apron, one of these bags, a tool roll, or maybe a pizza roll!? Will be fun!

I love waxed Canvas, nice job! It must be an American thing, but as far as the sewing machine goes.. it’s only original once. Another cool option may be to buff out the original paint and rust and chrome, guys are doing amazing things with hot rods here like that. Hey it’s your machine, do what you want, just my two cents. Keep up the great work...
Scott, wish I could do projects like that. ( I rent a room ) Hey that bag is Sweet...love the color, size & your logo on the sides! You should consider mass producing them to sell ! As always, great job Scott ! 👍
I had a waxed canvas lunch bag years ago, somewhat similar to this but open topped and it had a strap type latch,it's only drawback was it didn't have a carrying strap, lasted forever, it ended up as a tool bag. Love watching, keep them coming.
Cool video. Very helpful! Do you know what the final measurements for the bag were? Im having trouble figuring out how big I should cut the squares. Any approximation would be perfect.
Hi Henri. Check the video at 38 seconds for the basic canvas size and at 6:58 for the corner cut out size. Finished size is approx 250mm long by 110mm x 110mm.
