    Good stuff. Don't forget weak/slow hips leading to that early separation! Sometimes those "fast hands" don't wanna wait around for the hips to catch up, which can lead to casting the hands out.

    Great video, can’t wait to try with my sons who struggle with this concept.

    I take swings bath length from the fence on a tee, this forces me to keep hands inside and also have a flat swing

    So when your hiting do you want to think hands inside the baseball during the game

    Loved the sweatshirt drill. Was working on this with my 8 year old yesterday. This drill will give him some instantaneous feedback. Thanks!

    Great video series and a lot of sound info in all of them - some of the best stuff on TH-cam.Really like the sweatshirt drill, and golfers do a similar drill with a towel to help keep the back elbow from getting separated - great visualization for kids with the sweatshirt. Jeff - I think you did not follow the drill correctly, and if your son just started this drill his muscle memory of how he used to swing will override his doing this drill for a short period of time - me thinks this is something that has been going on for a while.
    Info in this video is correct and dead on what we teach our hitters. Knob starts out pointing at the catchers feet for better leverage, and linger you can keep it there until you drop the front heel and start the swing = better leverage and bat path/speed. At that point knob goes to the ball and keeps the hands inside so you are short to the ball and long through it. Make sure your son does not keep the knob going to the pitcher once his hands get into the hitting zone - at contact he needs to be palm up/palm down which will cure your problem. If he continues the knob into and past contact you will have problems and that back elbow passing his front will kill a swing. Have him do some tee drills and stop at contact and check his hands and elbows and an IPhone is a great tool to video your kids and their swings to give them feedback.
    Great video and keep up the good work.

    Nice work, coach!... promotes a good rotational swing evidenced by the elbows staying apart, back elbow on the hip and the lead arm staying bent... this isn't rocket science but it does take practice to break the muscle memory of years of bar'd arm A2B T-ball swings. These drills DO NOT promote bat drag as Jeff has incorrectly suggested. I clearly see the back elbow near the hip, behind the bat punching thru with power.

      you’re welcome Justin. My son has been struggling with this and i’ve seen this drill before but this explains it perfectly and is a great visual. I’m having my son do this starting today with just a glove under his arms and a bat (or no bat). will follow up with feedback. also signed up for the website

    Wont the sweatshirt fall if you load properly? Is the sweatshirt drill used without the load?

    Thanks for video coach but need some clarification. After watching bat to shoulder drill: During live pitching, are you recommending to swing with bat touching shoulder or keep close to shoulder as I swing?

    Nice. I typically use a glove instead of a sweatshirt because it's easier to drop due to the weight.

      I think it does. Read more about the 1 plane swing

    • @musarra195
      @musarra195 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out “golf tips - baseball mentality” by make the turn/ jeff Ritter. He teaches the one plane swing which is more of a rotary swing as opposed to a more traditional vertical swing. In other words , at the top of the back swing , the club is on the same plane as the shoulders. The setup posture is critical to achieving this. Thing more hinging from the hips, shoulders more angled forward over the ball as opposed to more upright. He’s got great videos.

    I like most of your videos .But these drills only promote dragging the knob and can cause the back elbow to go in front of the front elbow and can cause the bat to come on plane very late .Too late if it's a fast pitcher. I taught my son this same thing .it caused nothing but problems . it was a bad habit that was hard to break .I hate to see kids doing bad drills that promote bad habits . I dont intend on being a buster . I'm not putting anyone down.. just trying to help others .. delete my post if you wish
