      but the fact that you dont load properly isnt the reason why people lunge. You can still have a proper load and still lunge. You need to stay gathered more on your back leg/backsidewhen you stride.

    I’m 21 and this is exactly my problem. Growing up I never played organized baseball besides at the YMCA so I never had someone who could help fix this until I paid for hitting lessons when I was getting ready to tryout for my highschool team, after CoViD I stopped playing ball and just started up again in a adult amateur league and I am back to my old habit so this helps a lot thank you

    Bro....none of my sons coaches could figure out what was wrong with his swing....the lack of a load and identifying the unbalanced swing as lunging is incredible...will be referencing this video for a long time until he breaks his old muscle memory.

    Absolutely great info , Loading properly ( not over exaggerated ) Balancing the swing with your head between your feet , where it belongs . One thing that happen when Lunging is that it becomes very hard to keep your head down on the ball " AT CONTACT " you can keep your head where it belongs almost to the point of contact but just before you make contact your eyes and head will leaves and you can't see the impact ( even the slightest amount of head & eyes leaving the sight of impact will cause you to be a consistent hitter , popping up or topping the ball ) . Allot of moving parts during a swing and you must fine tune the fundamentals . Key is work on it in front of a mirror or even better on tape . Don't make it more complicated than it is , Stance , load , set front , head down drive hips thru , SEE YOUR SELF MAKE CONTACT . I believe in always be in line drive mode , powering thru the ball , and good things will happen

Builds fast twitch reflect muscle memory . Plus they are long gating their swing so it stays in the hitting zone longer .

    Hey, my name is Tony and I'm 15. I used to play baseball when I was 8, and stopped for some unknown reason. Right now I want to get back into the game to start playing again. Am I too old to play again? If I'm not, what are your tips for trying out, or someone who wants to get back into it? I love your baseball tutorials by the way! Thanks!

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're definitely not too old, Tony! I'm excited that you're going to be back on a baseball field. I would really focus on the fundamentals and there's no way you can get around the hard work and repetition. You should be hitting, throwing, and working on your defense as much as you possibly can. You've got some ground to make up, so you need to be working 10x harder than everyone else. As for trying out, go check out these two videos:

Trust me. Personal experience. A bit different. Didn't play ever until I was well into my late teenage years.

      You shouldn't artificially push your hands back or your front arm back, it should happen naturally. Just allow your hands to walk away from your body. As your body strides forward, your hands stay back and create that separation!

    I tend to lunge at the ball when I get excited. I don't lunge when I'm focused. Getting loose. Thinking positive. Hit the ball. But after doing an extremely good hit. And I do something great for the team. Next time I come up to bat I get too excited and lunge at the ball swinging.

    How about for off speed pitches. Lots of players tend to lunge on a off speed pitch

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Off speed pitches are a little tougher! Obviously we want to avoid lunging if at all possible, but sometimes it's going to happen! You'll get fooled and be lunging, over striding, out over your front foot... and that's hitting! Not every swing is going to be perfect. At the end of the day, it's about getting the bat on the ball.

  • @timefly4221
    @timefly4221 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm a bit late to this party but I can't help but comment. Many successful baseball players like Dustin Pedroia and Mookie Betts lunge with their lower bodies. I suspect that's because they are smaller guys who can't get enough power without extra forward momentum in their swings. What you learn from their swings is that you can leverage the forward momentum effectively if you have good control of your upper body and hands. They lunge with their legs, but their upper body, hands, and head stay balanced and loaded.

  • @briankreischer6907

    You talk zero about how much power comes from your legs in hitting. Kids simply lunge forward due to upper body swinging by being anxious. Talk more about how much your legs provide when when a player swings. Teach younger kids to bend their knees and learn how to balance/load on the back foot, small stride forward, hands back, and then start your swing by rotating your hips, dropping your back shoulder, and follow through with your swing. Lunging is simply because kids are naturally weak and it comes natural to swing from the waist up. Teach them to start at their feet and then progress up through all of the mechanics. Your video is okay, but can use a lot of help. Hope this helps someone.
