    Thank you so much man. I tried a dial swap a few years ago and it went horribly. With the help of this video, I finally overcame the challenge and did it! I'm feeling so happy now! Also, looking forward to other mods 😅

    Went with the same dial but more modern hands, looking somewhat like those on the SPB153 (which I happen to own). Did the mod to have a "Feiko" beater as not to always risk beating up my proper modern Willard. Case design from a wearability point is second to none.

    I love watch modding videos, hence this was really interesting. I bought myself an already modded Seiko SKX which I got only in order to further mod to my own taste, as a first mod project. Now, I've been changing my mind back and forth about what I would do to it (atm I'm back to make it somehow of a non diver sports watch, with a slanted non movable bezel), and I've been collecting some tools and stuff for this project. And of course watching videos like this.
    But my greatest fear will always be fiddling with the hands, especially that bloody seconds hand lol. Btw, you got yourself a new subscriber now.

      Hi Its a very enjoyable hobby. Regarding hands, if you get the right pusher for the hand hole size, you should be ok. Thanks for subscribing and for watching.

    4:40. The Steeldive SD1970 isn't a 3.8 crown - it's a 4.2 crown. Look at it - the crown is clearly one minute past 4. You might be confusing it with the Seiko SKX, which has a 3.8 crown.

    Nice Willard, I wanted one without chinese parts so I bought the modern Seiko Willard. It needed regulation so I popped off the case back and guess what it said on the inside case back? "Case Made in china'! I believe they threw the Japanese 6R movement(Not an impressive movement at all IMO) in at the Seiko factory in china and could not be bothered to regulate the movement . Yours probably was built much better than the 9 year olds employed in the Seiko chinese sweat shop !

      Yes the *crown on the SD1970 is at 4.2, not 3.8 as said in the video.

    Friend, should the NH35 movement be crown at 3.8?

    • @thebaldwatchmodder3696

      Hi. Yes if you have one, but practically any nh35 will do. Only becomes a problem with nh36. Just check date window positioning before.

    Can you please tell me how you changed the bezel insert . My watch guy had to stick the 6109 seikosis reproduction aluminium bezel inset on top of ceramic dial because he said it wouldn’t fit . Any tips would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    bought the white version of this dial. kinda regret it. the philiphines seller has a better dial. the indices are raised while this one is flat and glossy. seiko logo is still glossy though but im okay with that. i wanna get the seikosis dial but it's to expensiveeee

      I have a addisdive Captain Willard, and I love it! It's a really nice "homage". I would on the other hand never mod it with the Seiko brand name. It is what it is, and stand on its own right as a "Homage/copy", and the steeldive/addisdive Captain Willard has already a well deserved place in the world of watches.

    • @Fallen_Angels

      It's hard to say because it's not an exact copy and the intentions he had weren't for fraud purposes.

    • @DarthPlaya
      @DarthPlaya ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Fallen_Angels It may be hard for *you* to say, but I don't have a problem saying it. By putting a Seiko dial in a Steeldive case he intends for *someone* to think he has a Seiko ... and he doesn't. Unless he plans to put a sign on his forehead that says "my watch dial says Seiko but it's not really" so everyone he meets will know the truth ... he's commiting fraud and is no different than any other person that wears counterfeit/replica watches.

    • @Fallen_Angels
      @Fallen_Angels ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DarthPlaya You do have a fair point, even Rolex considers aftermarket parts on Rolex watches to be a big no no. They consider it a counterfeit and won't service it.

      100 percent. Personally, I'd have no problem doing this sort of mod for my own enjoyment, but I would never part with it, even by openly stating its a DIY knock off, for fear of it being resold as genuine to some poor sod down the line. It would be a use it till it dies then destroy what's left.
