@@Sylas_Miller Tap parry just before the strike hits you, and watch you spirit meter as minus spirit guarantees a death 99% of the time. Dual swords are good for that boss.

Ginding up your moral to 25 will help everyone e lot! Moral is like a temporary level boost for the zone you are in. Increasing both damage you deal and reducing damage you take.
Thank you so much for this video. I spent about 3hrs and 50 attempts to kill this boss. I didn't realize you could guard and still dogs giving you the credit for it. After watching this video I beat him in 3 attempts(only using the greaves btw). I was seriously less than 5 attempts away from giving up.
YOOO I didn’t even thinking about hitting the deflect button while blocking. That sounds much easier.

Best tutorial video ever. Thank you. Said what needed to get done first and foremost. Didn't have to over explain and define like what the masses flock to. Quick, simple and efficient.
Also! For those that are having difficulties with the bosses, take your time. Learn to DEFLECT, NOT GUARD. You got it man, it's just a game.
Using the spirit "ultimate" attack may be even beter on the boar than buffing yourself. He's so big that it's very easy to hit him with almost all the spikes at once instantly reducing him to half health or so :)
I never was a parry guy, but having an absoute blast with this demo! Can't wait for the full game! Thanks for the video!
What's strange is I always have been good at parrying but can't seem to get it right in this game for some reason lol.
Yeah I think it was kinda busted for the boar lol I don’t think I gave him a chance to even attack and the whole fight lasted what felt like 20 seconds 😅 I’m excited for this game and will be playing it day one, but I’m still slightly skeptical of the combat. It’s fine but coming from souls and Nioh I feel like it could be more fleshed out but maybe that’s just my first impression.
@@kennyc7260 u almost have to buffer it, idk it’s kinda weird but they definitely increased the parry window cuz the first demo I could barely get any at all but this one I was getting them every time
@Gage Grogan actually I also feel a bit skeptical. Compared to Nioh with all its stances, skilltrees and yokai abilities, it does feel a bit "simpler" - mash x, hit y. But then again, it seems there's gonna be more weapons and movesets, and the Magick system is more fleshed out. So I'm hopeful for the mid and endgame. We'll know for sure soon enough:)

Same for me, parry has input lag, that's the only answer I can think of. I can easily use guard points in monster hunter with the charge blade which is infinitely harder to do, but here just pressing B just before getting hit doesn't work.

The deflect/parry is so satisfying.
My tip for new (souls like and/or team ninja game) players who are struggling. Just level up the green, wind stat fot max HP. That +7 compared to +2 HP doesn't sound like a lot but, trust me, it is
Just knowing all I have to do is take his HP down to half was all I needed to retry the boss.

@@gabrielgreen2737 Yeah, I was all excited after hearing I had to get him halfway down, then started sweating when it didn't end. Got him down to about a quarter before the prompt showed up.

@@thegamewin100 you can buy the dlc and use it even if you dont own the game as long as it is on gamepass, and if it were ever to leave gamepass it would have a huge discount plus youll already have the season pass

Alright as someone who did take a while to get through the beginning area let me at least share some tips that helped me get through their number-one being farming enemies to increase your stats and to get some better weapons this helps a lot also you can span spells before you get into the fight this also helps but what I would recommend the most is just going in once and just sit there trying to practice and time the attacks I used three spells mainly being unstoppable Force enhanced defense and absorb vitality and I would personally recommend a white wooden cudgel as its higher attack rate makes it easier to flinch them into a corner also killing the tiger multiple times can get you a few different accessories which will help a little thing else was mentioned in the video so I hope this helps if you're reading this

I didn’t know half this info & completely missed a promt to call a divine beast in the first boss fight & beat his full health bar 🤦♂️ still it was satisfying & looking forward to full release & plenty of guides 😁
Having your morale full helps alot. After I filled it up, I beated the boss in one try
For 2nd phase just watch out for the ground earth spike attacks and parry them and stay at range if you have a spear and then just parry his critical attacks

@@pirisel1137 You will become exhausted pretty easily if you make mistakes.
@@canisinumbra yes that the whole point, as long as you know what ur doing the stamina basically become infinite, understand the mechanic and the stamina system become a lethal point for enemies and not you
Took me 20 tries until I realized getting my moral up to 25 actually helps a ton and finally beat him. Surprisingly enough I beat all the bosses after him in my 1st or 2nd try even in NG+
U r exactly right. The first boss is harder than final bosses in other games. I don’t like that. I’ll try your tips and see. But if he is still next to impossible to beat I won’t be purchasing a game that won’t let you actually enjoy the mechanics.

Bro, if you actually use all the mechanics the game offers, the boss isn't that bad. He telegraphs the hell out of his moves so just fight him a couple times and you can memorize his moveset. Just deflect and hit back. Rinse and repeat bruh
I felt the first boss was super easy took 2 tries I think people are just either spamming and not paying attention to the boss
How do u activate the spirit thing on ps5 I got his second phase down more then half and nothing promt or came up
You will see on the bottom right the little dragon symbol will glow and then you press Y+B on xbox

I had no idea that there were two different activations for your selected divine beast. Good to know!
The boss for the tutorial. 1 phase full agrresive (3x light attack and 1 heavy all time) 2 phase full aggressive and perfect dodges (perfect dodge open the window to attack)

The first boss is giant horse nioh 2 vibe. I love it.
Man, I feel so bummed. I so wanted to love this game but I'm having Sekiro PTSD. I thought sorcery would save my butt but nope. The first boss is a complete wall for me and no matter how much I try to understand the timing for deflect I can't keep up. Your trick holding dodge definitely helped me though, thanks for that. After 3 hours... I think I'm not made for this.
Don't give up! I'm never great at parrying in games and Sekiro never clicked for me, but after just a few hours Wo Long is starting to click and the combat is a ton of fun!
@@joshmay2944 Thanks, man. I guess part of it may be because I always play pure caster in RPGs (including Souls and Nioh) but Wo Long forces me to go melee and I suck so bad. I never could get past Genichiro in Sekiro after days of trying for that very reason so I kind of resigned myself it wasn't made for me. I'll try again tomorrow with a clear head.
heres a tip use block instead of parry its better only use parry on one or two moves to lower the orange bar the is pretty easy more forgiving then nioh
@@_BlackenedSun You think so? Maybe it's just the timing that's different. I didn't seem to have too much issues with the burst counters in Nioh 2 but I'm guessing it was far more forgiving.
@@sorv5790 yeah i realize you dont have to parry every move so i just parry the attack im comfortable with like the red burst attacks and block the others. i do feel like this game is way more forgiving then nioh at least im not getting two shotted by generic soldiers lol

I worked out the technique (mash the light attack) but still impossible to get past second phase of first boss. I beat the tiger though. Attack from above and then lure it in to the fire.
One thing I still dont get. For deflection you have to press the button and move the left stick or only the button?

You just have to tap the button. Using the stick left or right with a tap results in a dodge.
I beat the demo before seeing this and it would have made it easier, but i figured it out on my own anyway. Regardless I love this game for sure. Not sure if I will miss the 3 stances terribly but i am feeling like the combat is a little simpler now. What i want to know next is - and will find out in 2 days I guess - can you combine weapons/armor at the blacksmith like Nioh 2 to take 2 x +1 weapons and make a +2 etc. Can I do that stacking. I want NG+5 where I am getting orange weapons and going into the underworld for this one too. Most of the other elements for inventory and blacksmith have carried forward from Nioh 2, just dying to see if they have the combinable/stackable weapon/armor upgrades now.
After your video and playing around I was able to get the demo completed and it was a blast.. Figured out how the combat worked pretty well too.. At first I wasn't going to think about buying this game but now I want more lol

Can someone tell me how to do critical attacks? I got bosses out of spirit, so they are staggered, but is there a way to critical attack them at this time?

What stats should I lv up to help a noob?
First boss is going to drive a lot of people away from the game including myself sounded cool but 40+ attempts in and the timing for the red spirit moves have to be perfect. Tried all the different weapon types no luck best attempt got him to almost half in 2nd phase
If it was til half life, like dude said here, id done it. My boss need the entire life
It's half, u just got to recognize blind boy saying try this new technique and notice your divine beast gauge just magically turn full. Launch and fight over.
He's a gatekeeping boss, just like Margit from Elden Ring. The first boss is meant to be really hard because your just starting from level one.
Just block and attack to get your spirit back, it'll be longer but easier. Only parry the red attacks.
I got him down first try on first phase cause morale was at 25 then got fucked over and over on 2nd phase

It took me a whole day literally to finally pass this first boss and let me tell y’all IT GETS HARDER 😭😭 but the game itself is actually 🔥🔥 I wanted something more challenging and definitely found it’ My best advice for the first boss is to time your counter attack and spam the X button’ 😂😂

I gad to finish all his health bar on the 2nd phase, is it normal ? Or did they change something on the last update ?
What should happen is the icon on the right siide should start flashing and Blind Boy should say something about unleashing the beast. That is when you press Triangle+Circle / Y+B together to use the divine beast and finish the fight.
The healing spell in Wood category really helped me (it heals a little based on damage done). Pop the spell right before you perform a critical when his Ki is broken, and it heals a good chunk. I was able to heal almost half a health bar without using up one the three healing charges.

Anyone have tips to get past the auto saves pop up at when you first load into the game, I just can't do anything. I'm on series s, I've tried reinstalling, deleting saved data idk what else to try
You can cheese the first phase with the polearm. Keep spamming basically attack don't let him get a chance to attack. Then second form block and parry to stamina break him.
Is there a level requirement for the first boss?
Can you do a guide on the stats of the 5 phases I still don't really understand it should I make a build and put all my points between the 5 of the 5 phases or stick with 2 of them like water and wood I am not really sure and how do I know what weapons scale with what?
At a glance, I would recommend 2 Earth for the defense buff and 3 Wood for the lifesteal buff.
Then decide which weapon is your favorite and put the rest of your stats into the main stat of that weapon. For example, I like the Iron Sword most since the 1 star shop version comes with my favorite martial art, and completing the demo always gives you a 3 star version. It scales best with Fire so all the rest of my points are in Fire.
@KX I do appreciate the info I've been playing the he'll out of the demo trying to figure stats and weapons and martial arts out I beat it 2 times now on the same character I wanna do it again on another new game I found the dual swords and pole blade are my favorite in this game so it does show a c for water with the dual katanas so I am understanding more now that I've put a decent amount of time in the demo just understanding everything. I do plan on starting from the very beginning when the full game releases so I can get the full experience of this game. Wo long is such a good game. 👍

Great demo. Longer than I expected. Anyways I thought the first boss was the hardest by far until I kinda cheesed it with the polearm martial arts. I'm looking forward to the release

When the boss runs out of stamina the first time start spamming the dragon tail martial art for the polearm. He will go down quick and easy

So here's a question.
Some weapons show off having better grades with certain elements. Does that entirely matter? Do they get some sort of damage/spirit buff from using weapons of an element you are leveling more in?
it kinda means it scales more with that element. So lets say you have a high fire stat, and the weapon you have equipped scales a "B" with fire, that means that you will have a higher damage out put on top of the base damage. On the other hand, if the weapon scales high with water, then you will not get any bonus damage due to your high stat in fire. Idk if it affects elements, but likely it does

Just did Nioh NG+ and went to Nioh 2 NG+. Nioh 2 NG+ bosses and Amrita fiends are spongy, jeez. This feels nothing like Nioh with the parries. Though I’d be awesome, but learning is taking place. Good on Team Ninja for making something different which reaches back to the story of DW. this is not Nioh 2.5 at all and I like it. Just tough to conceptualize, but it’s awesome.
What are the keys to buff companion for PC ?
anybody figure out how to get down to the secret area in the 2nd map? I thought the 7th flag would be down there
Here is a Wall that you can destroy, Place is where the Big Guy with Big Flag before Pig Boss. Jump where those Zombies were standing, its painted White destroy it and boom the Last Small Flag

It's Team Ninja, I'm pretty sure it would be if not more diverse. You can already see how convoluted the gear pieces are.

How do you unlock more spells? I Have Wood/HP Phase leveled to 3, but can't unlock the Healing spell.
I think you need to be a higher level im not too sure my fire is 5 and my wood is 9 but it’s still confusing when I can actually buy skills
Oh and the healing spell only heals you if you hit the enemy but it’s a little risky you’re better off with fire it’ll make your enemies stun faster by lowering their stun meter
@@thegamewin100 Yeah it seems like Character Level determines when the next "tier" of spells unlock. Then how many points in that Elemental "Phase" determines if you can use the spell.
The second phase of the first boss got me a few times. When I got his swipe attack down it went fast
