@@RosesTeaAndASD Phil is the one with the beautiful have high falsetto! On this video did you see when Phil Collins brings him those costumes, and Bailey shakes his s head with a no🤣
Phillip Bailey is/was a lead singer of Earth Wind and Fire. During the bands time off he answered Collin's request to sing this song he'd wrote for his album. Bailey agreed because EWF members were (are) allowed to work on outside projects.
@@eviekelpie1 I spent a long time primarily listening to new music because I wanted to remain current. Until I realized how much I missed a lot of the older stuff. Now I try to mix it up, but focus on older music. It's just more fun!
@@ohfour-seven6228 The only "new" music I listen to are the Playing for Change videos. New artists I've never known before, mixed with original musicians to the song. An old song, and played around the world
Phil has made so much great music both with Genesis and as a solo artist. Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and Phil Collins are the only musicians to have sold over 100 million albums as a solo artist and member of a group.
I distinctly remember when this came out - it was ALL over the airwaves here in Ontario, Canada! I knew who Phil Collins was (thanks to my sister), but no idea who Philip Bailey was (later found out he was a member of Earth, Wind & Fire) - it didn't matter - I LOVED their collaboration, the vibe, groove, voices - this was (and is still) a banger!! Great reaction Salvo.
Totally agree with you 100% . This song was actually on Bailey’s album Chinese Wall After Maurice White took a hiatus from Earth,Wind and Fire many from the group ( especially Bailey did album and yes 100 million copies were sold. Amazing duo and perfect performance by this duo.🔥💃🎼👠❤️❤️❤️
Love love this song! Awesome! I remember when this song came out. I could not believe it didn’t reach #1 in the US. The harmonies were great and I loved the fast tempo. Just a great collaboration.
When It comes to music, I'm so glad I'm old as, cos I've had a lifetime of incredible musical memories. Thank you for giving this it's much deserved praise.
Phil Collins is been asked in an Interview about his musical heritage. He answered: Easy lover was his best song. It ist perfect. Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul and Even disco. It‘s just all of it. Better belive him…….
Note that Collins was the producer of both this song and Philip's album 'China Wall'. Phil was a busy man at this time. LOL If you were a fan of EW&F you would know they had crazy costume/stage shows. Knowing that, fans would get the joke when Phil brings out the clothes at the end (while wearing their trademark headband). Phil's videos (and music) always had some subtle, often comic, details such as Collins passing the brush to Bailey in the dressing room scene.
This song is so iconic 80s! Takes me right back college days and playing in bands and hitting the clubs. Had so much fun in that decade! Great music like this made it even better! 😁😁😁
I was happy to see you do this amazing song from the 80's! 😃 they do compliment each other so well, and this song is impossible for me not to sing and dance to! Like I'm in it everytime. 🤣✌️🍀
Totally awesome song by 2 icons . Earth, Wind and Fire were on a hiatus due to Maurice wanting to do more projects such as producing. This is when Philip Bailey did his solo ( He sold over 100 million copies of his album) . His falsetto is amazing as is Phil Collins, great duo !!! 👍🔥🎼💃❤️. So glad you liked the song Salvo 🤣🔥💃🎼❤️
they did sound great together... Phil Collins was a huge fan of the band Earth, Wind and Fire... the band's horn section played on multiple songs by Collins..
At the time MTV was popular, airplay on MTV was the ticket. There was rumblings about solo black artists not getting played (*except MJ) Some feared (correctly) videos from Philip Bailey's new album weren't going to get played (True). Phil Collins: I know a cure for that, they'll get played if I'm attached. He was right.
This was my first experience with Phil Collins. My brother was a massive fan and would always make me sing the higher Philip Bailey part since I was only 8 at the time. I learned to harmonize through this song without knowing what harmony was at the time! Phil Collins was my first celeb crush too!
Earth Wind and Fire was my very first concert at 16, talk about an experience. They put on an amazing show. I can only imagine if these two did more collaborating.
Phil did produce the 1984 album Chinese Wall, where this song came from. 🙂 He also contributed to two songs for Philip's 1986 album Inside Out. These were Because Of You and Back It Up, the latter of which is my favourite, as the writers of that were Phil, Philip, George Duke, Nathan East, Nile Rodgers and Ray Parker Jr, all of whom played on it along with the late great Jeff Beck. 😊😊
How did I miss this 11 days ago??!! I know I've told you in the past how much in love I was with Phil Collins in the 80s - still am really. I loved that he did this with Philip Bailey - the mv is so cute & of course the song is amazing. They do sound really great together. Thanks for reating to this one! 💜
When Phil Collins is trying to dance (actually he CAN dance) as they goof around and laugh, it is their wives who are in the background. Kinda like that.
You should see Phillip Bailey sing "Reasons" with Errth Wind and Fire. The album version has better sax, but for me, it's always the live version. Bailey has such charisma. He has the band grinning. And there is something to be said for seeing the human body reaching for those perfect notes. I like the one where Bailey is wearing a gold lamé vest and a gold headband, in the thumbnail.
i think the whole 'walking on the chinese wall' album by philip bailey is produced by Phil. I don't think he contributes in vocals on other songs on the album tho
I enjoy the more baritone range. Too often the male higher register can be pushed through the nasal cavity & ends up becoming whiney. Both men here have such a command of their instruments & have depth on both ends of their scale it is a joy to see them happily creating music & video together.
I love Phil Collins, Genesis, and Earth, Wind & Fire. But I never cared for this song when it was released and heard it everywhere. (Very much in the minority, I know.) Hearing it now, some 38 years later, I still don’t care for it. But I love seeing all the love for it here ❤
I wonder if your ever going to get around to Lynyrd Skynyrd's You Got That Right, this song showed where Ronnie was planning to take the band using He and Steve Gaines vocals together. Any way, let me educate you on Southern Rock/ kinda Country. The band is The Charlie Daniels Band, the first song is The Devil Went Down to Georgia and you need to hear the live in Saratoga then just show off a new kind of Rock music called Vamp Rock Please give this band a listen, The band is called LILIAC and the song is Holy Diver, and just to throw something wild into it, it's a family band, two sister and three brother's, another shocker is the lead vocals is one of the girls and the real shocker is at the time she was only 16... Don't laugh, this is NUKE! Oh and the other sister plays the drums.
Just want to say I've enjoyed your videos but they have grown tiresome continue your good work I am going to unsubscribe I no longer feel your video picks are very good however never mind me you continue the good work you're doing and good luck to you

Yeah, he kind of spent the first third of the video talking about that.🤔
He had Earth Wind and Fires horn section play on his albums.
I loved this song when it came out, and to this day, I get the biggest smile every time I hear it. Two top notch vocalists.
I cant stop dancimg or smiling.

Terrific song. I bought the 45 (yes, an actual record) of this song back when it was originally released. Good times.
But did you have the yellow disc for the center? I'm sure you did. I know I did! 😊
I bought the cassette tape! 😉
Great song choice. I remember when the radio was filled with fun music like this. Wish it still is... So glad you liked it!

Given how big this hit was, I'm genuinely surprised they didn't do one duo album together. I guess each man was too damn busy!
They DID the album together. Phil produced it, played drums on it.
That would have been GREAT!
I have always loved this one.
Philip Bailey can still hit those high notes. He's incredible!
Collins was such a handsome guy and his voice is great!
Phil has made so much great music both with Genesis and as a solo artist. Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and Phil Collins are the only musicians to have sold over 100 million albums as a solo artist and member of a group.
Linda Ronstadt sold in excess of 100 million albums worldwide , according to Wikipedia.

Shocking that Peter Cetera is not on that list.
