Yes! That is the only way to cut a button hole, start at the bar tac and go toward the center. Very good tutorial. Thanks.

Again great focus! And the tip on the seam ripper is now with me for life. I did like the thrill of the old way but I can see I must reform my ways. Thanks again. Binge watching your tutorials n loving every moment.

This is the 4th or 5th buttonhole tutorial video I've watched and the first one that showed all the steps plus has a foot like the one on my 1970s machine. I've been putting off finishing a dress because I never learned how to do buttonholes.

*I use scissor than ripper so it will be easier for me to cut. But very helpful vid. Thank you!*

When I cut the fabric for button holes I use an X-Acto Knife with a FRESH #11 blade and I just cut the fabric working inwards from each end like you did with the seam ripper. It's ALOT Faster and easier and there is NO Chance of slipping and cutting through the stitches at the ends OR hurting yourself. :D

Thank You for this video. I have never done a button & my mother has passed so I have no one to show me how.

I followed the tutorial, and made a few button holes, but the gap where you put the stitch ripper is really narrow, what am I doing wrong? Your gap is wide enough for the ripper to go through but I just kept catching the stitches with the ripper as the gap between is too narrow, the stitches are almost touching. :) any advice welcome
