Met Josh in 2013 at Queenstown airport. He was super nice letting me get a fan photo and being generous with his time. Such a great player and cool dude.
As a South African we called Josh an “Yster of a player” direct translation “Iron of a player” meaning he was a hell of a player and hard as steel! Respect
Great interview, great man, great All Black. Man they all seem to get pretty knocked around, with lasting effect. Something I didn't realise until podcasts with the ex-players. So for what its worth, thanks for everything you have put yourself through, for the game and for our country. 🖤
Dom. Thanks for a great interview with Josh. He is a really good man who has had to battle at times. Also he was an outstanding number 7 . Richie was very much in the Kronfeld mould.
I've been watching a lot of vids of Americans "discovering" Jonah Lomu lately and in many of the movements leading to the big guy's tries, Josh featured prominently. After McCaw's exploits I'd really forgotten just how good Josh was. Gee, he was awesome, the kind of loosie that even if McCaw was on the open-side I'd still be looking at fitting into the team somehow. Truly top class flanker, his backing up and support play were second to none.
Played against him in colts grade club rugby in Dunedin around 1990. He was a rangey skinny gangly mother with a mop of longish hair back then and he carved our team up from openside. Fast and elusive and had already made a name for himself despite, as he said, not making any of the age group rep teams.
Im a South African , i called my son after Josh . My second son is called Duane after Duane Vermeulen .My dog is called Siya and if i must have a cat i would call it Jasper , after Jasper Wiese😂
growing in Hawkes Bay I used to go to Fantasyland a lot - they had that big pond full of ducks you could paddle out in a canoe or row boat - I think they nick named it the duck itch pond lol good times
As a Springbok supporter-Josh, what a great player-wonderful interview-humble hero! Really appreciated your contribution during the 95 World Cup.

One of the best No. 7s ever! Gave it everything. Particularly good at regathering his own kicker's halfway kickoffs.

Truly enjoyed this episode. Josh is such a great storyteller with a sense of humour while at it. Hats off to you for not interupting him👍
