Just got mine today. It totally surpassed my expectations and I’m beyond satisfied with it. Works great on my 65 inch. Calibrated the gun with just a few trigger pulls and the accuracy feels great, and you don’t need to recalibrate for each game or anything. I’m not sure why people have complained about accuracy, I’m having no issues at all with it. The guns feel weighty and nice. Sure the emulation isn’t always perfect but that’s to be expected. Every game I’ve tried has been totally playable and fun. All in all I’m glad I discovered this console (from this video - thanks, liked and subbed) it totally scratched the itch I had for light gun games.
Thanks for the vid guys. 1. We chose certain games from certain systems because they played better with the hardware we used in the console. You can use the guns with a PC build and play anything you want. Also, the guns are faster with the faster bigger computer. 2. We have updated our software to include the option of 4:3 for light gun games. Plug your console to wifi and let it update. 3.When you plug the guns to a PC we have a calibration software that lets you calibrate the guns on your PC. The guns and pedal are recognized like a mouse and keyboard so just map the buttons and you are good to go. 4. you can use other USB type controllers, even PS controllers if you have them and have the USB dongle or wire. Enjoy the guns guys!
Originally when I got the PlayStation move controllers I got them for the Sportsfriends collection such as Joust BUT when I found out I could use them for light guns I got the gun peripherals that you plug the controller into to hold like a gun and got both the Resident Evil Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles games and no regrets!
Hell yeah my dudes! I saw this on another TH-cam channel - but I'm stoked to get your honest-to-goodness take. (not "experts" but you're fluent in light gun blasters!) Are light guns really FINALLY up to the modern era!?!
The foot pedal had me intrigued, but after hearing your take and me having more than not of the games included, I think I'll pass. I will just take the money and pick up the few other bangers (OG HotD / Elemental Gearbolt) I'm missing in the true CRT format and hardware. Cheers
cant wait to get mine in. perfect for the kids and I for our 75 inch living room TV. Love the nostalgia of the game and love retro gaming as a whole owning OG NES, SNES classic, OG N64 and OG ATARI. Been wanting to venture into some light gun gaming... I can live with the shortcomings for an somewhat affordable plug n play solution
Almost there I'd say! While the likes of Arcade 1up are busy gouging customers and the true high end of the market (Gun4IR) just being hard to come by and also very expensive, this is the sort of push we need for plug & play light gun gaming. Would be good to see the next version with higher specs and more impressive games list. Just a note. Lots of people don't seem to be aware that Aimtrak IR guns that have been around for ages work right out of the box on PS2. Not a perfect experience, but you do get to play the best home lightgun game (Time Crisis 2) on a modern display using whatever video option you have available.
Excellent coverage of the Retro Shooter Pandora's Box Light Guns. I know this video is older, but how can we add the newer games (Mad Dog, Revolution X, etc)? I updated my Box, but they're not there. I bought the set-up just before they updated the gun muzzles & added the 2 extra sensors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
I have been following your channel for some years now and the topic that got me interested in the channel was light gun games. I started down the rabbit hole of getting a CRT and purchasing consoles, light guns, and games because of you guys. BTW, I think we're still missing a Dreamcast light gun games episode. I know there's probably 4 light gun games on DC so maybe do a ranking in the same video as well?
Well said, The Pandora Box is a step in the right direction. Not perfect, especially for those looking for the true 1:1 feel of original. Maybe one day. Great episode guys, have a great week! 🍻
You guys should consider getting x real air ar glasses for the light gun experience. I tried it with the ps4 and ps move and is better experience than a TV. All you have to do is place the camera or sensor on any surface and just keep your eyes and move or gun directly towards camera and is more responsive than on top or bottom of TV. In this case the display is directly in front of you. There is also another brand ar glasses that allows for multi-player gaming with two pairs of glasses.
I saw this advertised on Facebook and was really curious about it. Thanks for your honest opinion. I think for that amount of dollars I can keep putting together my own collection of the originals for about the same cost and enjoy the original experience. Of course i have a CRT in the basement that draws the ire of my wife but worth it imo 😂
Dudes ! Thank u for ur honest opinion.. ive been eyeing them off since they released em... Point Blank is a biggie for me.. if thats a bit off then that would drive me nutz.. Cheers fellas 🤘
They are cool and a step in the right direction but I really think they'd leave you frustrated. They work OK but not to the level we'd want them to to recommend. Cheers!
Your welcome! Yeah tougher and more precise light gun games is a bit of a struggle! There is alot of fun games on there also but yeah if you want it for Point Blank it will be frustrating! 🍻
Did they send this to you guys? Because sindens alot better and expected you guys to get those. The sinden will play the boint plank accurately enough and quick. One of the cool things about these is that you can use them also on PC with emulator with the PC adaptor.
the selling point of these guns is that you really just plug them to the console/pandora box and play..no setups no anything.. also are pretty nice quality
Unfortunately, the Dreamcast doesn’t have a whole lotta light gun games and the official SEGA guns were never released in North America. What games there are available are incredibly fun, but the 3rd party light guns are plagued with issues from calibration to disconnections. That said, HotD2 and Confidential Mission are definitely worth playing.
Retro Shooter use IR sensors like AimTrack or even WiiMotes. Have tried using the Wii Sensor Bar with the RS? I use the same IR bar for my AimTrack and WiiU.
What do you think this vs the ps move and vs the wii light gun games???.... we NEED a light gun/rail shooter comparison between the ps move vs wii games!!!
@GamingOffTheGrid yeah but we need a quality video of move vs wii light gun games please even just your opinion because some games like house dead overkill and whatnot don't want to spend over $60+ to get them for both systems!
As a dedicated fan of old school arcade shooters on original hardware, this is a great modernization for the genre. However, the price tag is off the chains. Im gonna pass on this, but I'm glad to see that a company made this product as an homage to the arcade shooter.
Never heard about this. My only light gun experience is the Super Scope which I’m building up my collection for. Lots of titles for it! But if this thing worked better I’d seriously consider it to play all those games in arcade quality.
I sorta wished that Sega had done like a Light-gun for the House of the Dead Remake I mean it wouldn’t be that expensive just make sure they work on a HD TV and boom all it needs it’s a usb cable to connect and done
We got lucky to find those. Didn't know they were so hard to find when we made that vid. The PS branded one's aren't too bad. Not great but will get the job done.
6:00 how do u guys have all these guys retro games and not realize/know house of the dead arcade is broken and can’t be emulated in mame? That’s why people use the Dreamcast version on these things
For those prices it would be cheaper just to buy a CRT, the consoles, the lightguns and the games lol. Also House of the Dead 2 & 3 are on the Wii which has a similar set up in terms of a sensor bar for shooting games, never played it so can't speak to the accuracy of it.
Are the games the entire game or is it some levels of the games. A lot of those cheap all in one game systems like the mini nes game system gives you a ton of games but each level of a game is considered a game.
Not bad like this! In the end original hardware will always be best but if you dont have that availability things like AimTrak are good alternatives just dont expect it to be as good as original hardware! 🍻
I have crt too and PS1 with a hybrid (not GunCon) gun with pedal ja even recoil, which needs a separate power. Works well with Area 51 though they say only Konami Justifier works with the game. And of course PS2 with 2 GunCon 2's. 😊👍

@GamingOffTheGrid I do really appreciate you guys spending your $$ to get and review though..big thanks..when yall coming to a Columbus Ohio convention??
is it just me, or does the light guns have slow tracking? If you use the crosshairs, theres like a .5 second delay from when you move the gun to where the crosshair follows. I was playing House of the Dead and when it came to the boss, it was near impossible to shoot the "weak points" due to how fast the boss was moving and how slow the crosshair was tracking.
@@GamingOffTheGrid Great review - thanks for your insight. And also, this did go on sale - the setup you quoted is now down to $206! I think I'll have to pick one up, and the one you bought is down to 223.
That's cool someone went and tried to find a solution. Maybe someday we will have a better solution. I would take a dreamcast 2 from sega as a cool modern light gun unit 😅
Omg i literally just heard about these yesterday. Was going to watch a review of them but now that you guys are covering this i'll watch this video instead. Great timing!
You guys should talk about the hacks on ps3 and vita etc…stability on those jail breaks, bug issues…is it worth jailbreaking pros n cons. I mean you cant ignore the vita jail break all over youtube
These look ok, bit pricey, considering the price of a Sinden or two. The emulation for HoTD2 on that Pandora looks awful! The Sinden works really well as an almost plug and play experience using a Raspberry Pi4 and community made image. However, you do need to add your own ROMs etc. making it a bit more involved. The Sinden is an amazing modern day solution for lightguns, but I find the input lag a bit tricky for certain games. Whilst minimal, you cannot beat a CRT and these old classics should definitely be played on a CRT. However, it is great to have options outside of this!
Thanks gents I actually can’t wait till a modern game developer cottons on to light gun gaming being thing again especially with the advances atm also So can I just use my ps3 or ps4 controllers with this
The idea is awesome... But I don't like the emulator box 😅. I think Pandora have something than they can more dev to release as a Light Gun solution for home console like PS 1 and 2 or even the NES. I just imagine like that, a Passtrought Analogue input than analyse the signal to convert it with the captor and you connect it wirh a analogue output on a Upscalers like a Retrotink or OSSC. If they can make that, it can be a awesome device.
The Reason they don't use the Arcade versions is that they are harder to emulate and this Pandora Box just can barely run the Dreamcast version of the games.
Hey guys, I love ya but I don’t feel good about promoting a product that obviously has pirated games included on it. Would love to hear your thoughts about that part of this product. 👊🏽
We arent really promoting! In fact many times we endorse original hardware over it! Just a way for people who dont have original hardware or crts to have a way to play!
This seems like a decent solution to buy for a not tech person as a gift. If you're looking to get serious though it seems like sinden or gun4ir are the better investment.
Yeah iv sen this on YT, this doesnt ship to my country lol but yeah i think its ok as well but with these things usually do get better, i can see on the video thats it not quite right but saying that really good start kos there really isnt any other option that givs u a plug and play solution,For now ill stick to what i have an thats the ps3 light gun.
You can plug these into a PC for use with newer arcade games like time crisis 5 or haunted museum 1 and 2. And I actually find they feel better when used on a PC than on the Pandora’s box.
The guns do work well on PC.( get the Fire Base unit) Use mine for mame guns like Carnevil, Area 51, etc. My Kids enjoy them also, nice plug and play solution from the pandora box. .
I just ordered my gun only kit. I saw a guy demonstrate just how smooth they are on the PC and that sealed it for me. I wasn't interested in the console anyway. They were a pretty good bargain if they work as good as they seem to.
@@HeavyInstinct yeah man they perform so much better on PC it’s not funny. The tracking is much faster. Playing something like point blank with it being so fast isn’t ideal on the console but playing it on pc with mame it’s far more accurate. Makes for a far more enjoyable experience
@@WickedClownNZ Hey thanks for the feedback bro. That's really good to hear. I was looking at the Sindens but they cost $300 just for two guns and then the pedals cost even more. Plus I don't really care for that white border around the screen. They MAY be slightly more accurate (I'm not sure) but the retro shooters sure seem like they should suit my needs just fine. The guy in the video I saw moved his crosshairs all the way around the border of his 70-in screen and then moved back and forth quite quickly as well and I sure didn't see enough lag to be concerned about it. Really looking forward to receiving them.
You guys look young to be playing retro games, I figure you all would be more into modern games. But I've noticed anyone born in the millennial era who grew up playing PlayStation Dreamcast N64 or whatever, the prices for games from NES to PS2 are so expensive thanks to collectors buying so many at a time and this causes the "gamer" who can't pick up a game they never played before because of how high the price is. I don't think it has anything to do with low quality of stock like silent hill, kuon, haunting grounds or any other high dollar game. It is the collector that makes it impossible for the gamer to pick up games like that. Just saying
One of was born in 86 and played NES up and other 94! Played it all also but not all in there primes! Appreciate you saying we look young! We still find some cheap games from gen 3-6 but of course they got there expensive ones! Console like tg-16 saturn dreamcast n64 will of course have lots of expensive games! 🍻
Long story, short...temper your expectations. Pretty neat idea, though. I think the Sinden guns are far superior, but they're not perfect either and require specialized software and tinkering. Thanks for spending your money and giving your opinions, so I can pass 😂

Has the accuracy of the guns improved with the latest update?
Where can I get the PC calibration software? I couldn’t find it. Thank you!
Only 2 games I hate aren't on the list is revolution X and house of the dead 3. I'm still thinking about getting one soon.
Will you ever include the rest of the time crisis games? Its all i want
These projects are cool, even if it's not perfect it's better than nothing.
💯 agree! 🍻
Love the channel! Stoked for more light gun content. You guys convinced me to pickup a Wii + some on rail shooters like HotD Overkill. So much fun!
Thanks we appreciate that! Glad we could get you down that rabbit hole! 🍻

Back to school sale on these guns right now.

@@GamingOffTheGrid thanks brother

Not lag necessarily but the accuracy of the guns was the issue for us.

I wish it didnt cost so much the shiping is$48 why? The cheapest one is $250 with shiping
Please need link ,need buy ,thanks
Great review. I'm kinda tempted to get one of those Arcade1up shooter cabinets. They use Sinden tech.
Heard good things! We just have too small of a gameroom for one! 🍻
I will be getting Time Crisis arcade 1up. Pricey but it just works. Online leaderboards too !

😂! Yeah anyone with Crt is better off unless you dont have many games or theres lots of games you wish you had! 🍻
I see that you tested them with only 2 LED sensors. The new version comes with 4 for better accuracy. Have you tried it? Can you comment on it? Thanks
We haven’t tried with the additional sensors

Have you tried the Hub and guns on a PC, it's supposed to work even better because your PC is a better "retro emulator" than the included Pandora Box.
We have not.
It's definitely cool that people are finally working on a modern version of light guns.

Would the PC build fix the issues with Point Blank ? What is the game list on the PC build ?
We’ve heard it works better on pc but haven’t tried it yet
I am living in Colombia. Could you tell me where I can buy those here??
I think just direct from their website
Can you use any usb controller?
I believe so. We used a couple different ones and they all worked.

What was your shipping experience like?
Not bad at all
Do the high scores save ? Like on point blank ? Just curious.
Ours did only played once though! 🍻

Yes! Don’t expect perfection but it’s a good time

Have you guys tried playing Wii light gun games on the Wii U? Been thinking of trying that out on my modern tv
Yes we have! It works! 🍻
Great video guys. Was wondering which package would you recommend to someone who only wants to play Time Crisis and House of the Dead?
The basic one would be good enough! 🍻
Is it so hard to tell the length of the cord of the light gun

True! We just love the ones we use now! 🍻
Yeah fingers 🤞! That would be awesome! 🍻
Seems like a cool device. Wish it had more arcade shooter.
Its cool! Needs some tweaks! 🍻
Omg i literally just heard about these yesterday. Was going to watch a review of them but now that you guys are covering this i'll watch this video instead. Great timing!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy our review on it! 🍻
You guys should talk about the hacks on ps3 and vita etc…stability on those jail breaks, bug issues…is it worth jailbreaking pros n cons. I mean you cant ignore the vita jail break all over youtube
Might be something we cover in the future! 🍻
Would think there would be more actual light gun games on it. Still pretty cool though. Cheers boys 🍻
Yeah! Its an ease of entry for modern gamers that dont have crts so better than nothing! 🍻
Well said! You couldnt of said it better! 🍻
you know what would be fun wes if you guys did a other mario kart stream its been a while since the last one
Yeah we need to do another one! 🍻
Thanks gents
I actually can’t wait till a modern game developer cottons on to light gun gaming being thing again especially with the advances atm also
So can I just use my ps3 or ps4 controllers with this
Glad someone is trying also! 🍻
It only has only 90 light gun games? I thought there are over 160 lightgun games out there? Am I missing something?
Not all light gun games ever made are on there! 🍻
They very well could! Make this is just the beginning of what they will do! Time will tell! 🍻
The Reason they don't use the Arcade versions is that they are harder to emulate and this Pandora Box just can barely run the Dreamcast version of the games.
That is very true! 🍻
I just recently bought a NES and a zapper to play Duck Hunt on my crt and now this comes out for modern tvs. What a coincidence
LOL! Your better off with the Zapper
It would struggle, graphic card would be needed or more powerful cpu/gpu
Yeah it does a bit probably for that reason! 🍻
This seems like a decent solution to buy for a not tech person as a gift. If you're looking to get serious though it seems like sinden or gun4ir are the better investment.
We agree! Its a good barrier of entry for the masses as a start! 🍻
Thats a good choice! 🍻
You can plug these into a PC for use with newer arcade games like time crisis 5 or haunted museum 1 and 2. And I actually find they feel better when used on a PC than on the Pandora’s box.
We havent done it that way but we definitely can see it being that way! 🍻
Really looking forward to receiving them.
hold up your guns baby
🍻
I don't think these guns are as great as the sinden's or ultimarc's, no?
They arent! 🍻
Somehow my guns buttons doesnt let me enter a game
You need to use a controller to navigate the menus?
But what about lightgun flashes? That's like the whole point of lightgun games.
Get your light guns
Agreed! 🍻
Long story, short...temper your expectations. Pretty neat idea, though. I think the Sinden guns are far superior, but they're not perfect either and require specialized software and tinkering. Thanks for spending your money and giving your opinions, so I can pass 😂
Well said! 🍻
ok sounds like the system uses Wii style Light gun tech.
Similar though we would say Wii is more precise! 🍻
Cool review, price too high for me.
Yeah thats definitely understandable! Maybe it will drop overtime! 🍻
My favourite light gun games are the point blank games so …….not a great option for me
Yeah if thats the case you might be disappointed! 🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid better to know .
Now we just need some modern day guitar hero controllers
That would be pretty awesome! 🍻
Yes!!!
