There's quite a few VNs that end up getting adapted into an anime and they have to cut out a whole bunch of junk due to VN's commonly non-linear format. Steins;Gate, Island, Grisaia, Rewrite, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Danganronpa would be a few more examples.

I love these sorts of games cause... while gameplay isn’t super intense, the puzzles can be too easy or weird, the stories are typically a solid 6-7, and the artwork is top notch, very aesthetic! I feel like this game is just meant to kill time in car rides, or for people who like those thinner mystery books with cooking or knitting themes. It has a higher focus on artwork, and story.
The find things type games by the game grumps really help me fall asleep. they are like the perfect combination of calmness but enough energy so you focus on it.

I've actually played this. It's one of the weaker hidden object games. Try the Dark Parables series. I recommend the Frog Prince. It has some beautiful artwork and some actually fun puzzles.
