I am glad you videos are here for everyone. But myself personally. Because we will be neighbors of sorts. The latest property we purchased is in Dauin near Tugawe Elementary School area. So you’re sharing so many things that will directly affect our steps in our build project. We have watch several of your videos. Now I will go back and watch everything and start a build folder with build tips and installer connections like your solar installer. Which is the first name on my list. If we are lucky enough to see you around town when we come for our month long stay in Apr. I would be thrilled to shake your hand and thank you in person. Keep up the great work.
Best advice is to install as much insulation as you can afford. We paid extra, but installed 3 layers of insulation. Really helps with keeping ceiling cooler as well as less rain noise in the house.
Hi Wilma @ Greg. Thanks for the video. Your flower box in front of your house is beautiful. Have a nice remaining weekend and power for all your projects next week!
The neighbor's house is going to be bigger than I originally thought! 😲 We're still looking at houses, new and existing, and looking at building lots, too. I really don't know what we'll end up doing, as far as becoming 10%ers 😉 That's odd that there wasn't any water at the outlet, especially with 6 straight days of rain! There must be a problem with the municipal lines? Thanks for the update on the neighborhood, Greg 👍
@@buildingthephilippines I found what I thought would be our perfect house (my latest video). Until last night, when we drove out to see it at night, in a rain storm... too much water on the road, and some deep puddles. My Wife told me that was too concerning for her. It needs to be a group decision, when we find our house.
HI 👋 WILMA & GREG. It’s looking 👀 nice 👍. May I suggest just trim them down to half height & maintain them. Will the projects ever be complete?? Thanks for sharing brother 👍😉. BOK BOK Blessings 🙏🌺🌸🌼
My build was going great until i had to leave and come back to the US. Unfortunately, our foreman really took advantage of my wife. We are trying to decide if we are gonna sue or just get everything fixed. My biggest concern is retaliation against her and my son. She just recently did a vlog about it. Our retirement home will be managed by me the entire time. The house we are building now is just short term and not our forever home.
Unfortunately, the main person has to be present when you’re building anything in the Philippines. We’re still living in the U.S. so when my girlfriend was having a commercial building being built she put her uncle in charge of it (he lives there). When he wasn’t at the site, he hired someone to watch and make sure that everyone was working while he was away. Besides having trouble from local politicians on getting supplies like sand for concrete (apparently there’s somewhat of a monopoly) everything went ok.
I am currently back in the US but plan to return to Dauin soon and start building my house. Please refer me to a reliable contractor. I also contacted one of your guys to do a project for me. Thank you!
Pass onto your neighbor to have someone double check where the roof steel is secured to the columns rebar. You need a good weld not just a tiny tack as i had on my new roof when Yolanda blew it off my new home.
The driveway up into the carport seems rather steep. You mentioned a wheelchair. The steep angle of the driveway and a wheelchair sounds like a dangerous combination. Also, landslides are a major issue in the Phils. You guys have no issue where your house is, but your neighbours might find themselves in trouble one day.
@ZokStar1 wheelchair is for possibly future use. Wouldn't be used in driveway, just carport to house and back. Landslide very slim chance in this area.
Hi Wilma and Greg. By any chance do you know or have an estimate on the amount of hollow blocks you use to build your home, and is the hollow blocks the same size for the wall and house. Thank you and have a blessed day.
Their roof, looks pretty much like ours. I did lose the signal on my Starlink for a few minutes during the storm. Now we don’t have water at our construction site. I don’t know what my crew is going to do tomorrow without water, and we don’t have hollow blocks because they can’t make them in the rain. Did they put your solar wires in the plastic conduit where it runs along your roof. You got plenty of water, can you run that hose over to my place?
Hi Greg , I'm one of your subscriber, I understand expats can purchase land in the PH through their pinay wives, can you shed light how can a foreigner buy property in the Ph while his wife is a naturalized citizen of another country example the U.S ,Does she has to be a DUAL CITIZENSHIP holder? Thank you
Only filipino citizens can buy land. If your wife is now a US citizen, she needs to become a dual citizen. Gaining back her citizenship will allow her to purchase land. Your name can appear on the deed of sale and title as married to. That way, you're covered if she passes before you. You can never own the land yourself.
Greg is a true neighbor to share and supply water , and even have it ready for the work day .
Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away
Thanks Rory, appreciate the comment.
Very nice sharing the water to your new neighbor and the stone wall looks great, wow alot of work building that wall I bet. Thanks for the update!
Thanks for watching our video.
Thank you for the update, yes, it's been a while, since you've showed your neighbor's place.
Four weeks, I believe.

Really glad you are covering the rood. This is important for me to understand!

Great idea bringing buying and building issues to your future videos. You'll (unfortunately) NEVER run out of material.
Unfortunately, you are correct. Such an issue here.
It is very nice of you to find and fill the water tanks. Good for you!

I like what your neighbors did with the ravine.👍🏼
@stillwaiting7215 yes, cleaned up nicely.

Good luck with house and/or land hunting. Good things comes to good people. You will know when it's right. Be good up there in the North.

Yeah, great advice. Go look at the house at night. Especially, Saturday night (loud music etc). After a rain storm is another good one.
Your a good neighbour
Appreciate the comment
Neighborhood has some nice big homes. Maybe us Gregs have it a little easier than most is our prior work experience in construction.
Could be, once homes are completed should be a nice subdivision. Jury is still out.

They do need a trim. Taking a break on projects after this upcoming week. Need a break. Thanks for watching.
@@buildingthephilippines WILL LOOK BETTER & YES YOU NEED A VACATION FROM RETIREMENT PROJECTS 👍😉
So close to your house and so many steps😊
That's subdivision life.
That’s a hell of a staircase!! That’s fantastic that they’re making a garden there in that ravine.
It's going to be nice once completed.
That’s called Radiant Barrier insulation. It’s really effective in hot climates especially if you have a metal roof.
Thanks for commenting

I have no idea how many blocks were used. Yes, the blocks are the same throughout the home.

Always something going on. So many moving parts. Hmmm, need to check on the solar wires. Good catch, need to check. What's going on with water?
@@buildingthephilippines I heard something broke in the storm. I would like to go see what it is.
Wow, if you need to bring a few barrels up here and fill them up.
Greg did you use a special type of tile around the pool deck
@patrickhepburn2324 nothing special 50 cm anti-slip type.
Did Sandy ever get spayed? 😅 She might also need some water 💦
No, and she has her bowl of water over by our gate.
Can you get different foofing materials in Philippines I don't like tin roofs
Metal or concrete. Anything else would be special order.
what is the budget for your neighbours property, if you know?
@@stewartclark3259 I do not know.
Looks like another house on the other side being build.
Where?
Insulation with no air gaps...
Pretty much

How many SQM is that home.
425, I believe.
