    Why is anyone building in the Philippines using hollow blocks. AAC is the best way to go. The cost of labor is reduced significantly and AAC Blocks are fire proof, sound proof. Take a hollow block and a AAC block and drop it off two story building and see what happens

    • @buildingthephilippines
      @buildingthephilippines 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      AAC block is not available on this island. To get shipped in would not be cost effective. The labor force does not know how to install them. Thus, they would be practicing on your house. To each their own, of course.

    I'm looking at the same system. just had my first site evaluation. We run from 300kwh to 500 a month. I want the whole house on the system, running AC to. Maybe I'm thinking wrong. But run the battery down to 20% every cycle when let it switch to power Co. Just don't run everything at once. We will Definitely use more KWH if we have solar, Thats the point, keep the house cooler. Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but for that kind of money I'm hopeful. will wait for your updates and see how much power it produces a month

    Greg / Wilma; Love you channel and the great insights and advice you present! Outside of the projects to keep you busy, what do you do to keep busy/ occupied since you are retired? If I were building a new house from scratch, I'd definitely have dual voltage capabilities! I discussed it with 2 different builders, and it's possible... for an additional fee 😂🤣 In fact, one of the builders would have been my first choice, seeing how they engineered the houses and designed them. ❤️ Then Christine and I fell in love with this little bungalow (about 1/4 the size of your neighbor!), and certain features just stood out. But, as usual, I found some shortcomings with the design, and since my low-ball offer was accepted, that gave me the financial ability to upgrade what I felt we needed. Imagine our surprise when I met the Architect/Designer of the house, and he came from the Design/Engineering company we would have had build us a home! 😲 As soon as the Architect can give me exact cost figures, and all of the title, deed, Absolute Deed Of Sale (?) is finalized, the work will begin on the upgrades. Since the new house is less than a kilometer away, I plan to be there every day, insuring the work goes correctly! Keep something in mind; these Architects, Engineers, Foremen and workers are learning something new from us Westerners, when they're building a house for us. So it's important to work closely and rationally together with the Contractors! I should mention how important it is to develop a good line of communication and working relationship with the contractor! Together we are building a unique, one-of-a-kind house! And I can guarantee that Architect John has learned more for future designs!

      Out of 6 days, the battery got to 100% 4 of 6 days. The other 2 days, we got to 82 and 86%. We simply turned on the generator once the sun goes down for less than an hour and that takes the battery to 100% easy peasey.

    • @smellard63

      @@buildingthephilippinesI was referring to your front wall and how you replaced the metal with hollow blocks. I thought part of the reason was the need to repaint it so often. I was wondering about your neighbors use of the metal in the fence so they have a view.

    • @buildingthephilippines
      @buildingthephilippines วันที่ผ่านมา

      @smellard63 oh OK, it's a personal choice. I have not found any type of paint that lasts. Metal fades quickly, starts to rust as well as stain the concrete below it. We decided to replace with concrete. More privacy and less maintenance.

  • @JMRsDesk

    I am dumbfounded as to how many foreigners in the Philippines don't know about and dont use UPS Battery BackUps. If you buy a nice one it conditions your electricity even when you DO have power to keep your electronics from going bad prematurely and then keeps things running when power goes out and gives you time to shut your electronics off if you want or need to. I know most foreigners are using laptops so they keep running when power fails but since everyone's phones are always at 2% in the Philippines you should get one for that addiction. I only buy 1500VA units because that is very reasonable all around and the largest you can get at regular retailers. You'd probaly have to look far and wide to get one that big in the Philippines. I'd put one on all my electronics. Watched The Lincoln Lawyer from the beginning. Very Enjoyable.

    • @buildingthephilippines
      @buildingthephilippines 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @JMRsDesk Our solar setup has a whole house avr that provides pure sine to everything. No need to condition our electricity. The ups would only be attached to our router to eliminate restarts.

      @@buildingthephilippines Thank you for the reply, I will have to keep looking for one. I still have according to the engineer another 12 weeks before completion of the house, but there are always more jobs to do. 😁 Thank you again.
