i do not use streaming, (all i do is: go to shows, create music, graphic design, etc.) I do not buy individual songs, but i do STILL by cd's, tapes and vinyl... yes sometimes of the same record. most direct way to support an INDEPENDENT ARTIST IS TO BUY THEIR MERCH. also yes i understand that you'll be getting them that extra 0.002334 of a cent by streaming an underground artists music. but there are still people out there who own and listen to physicals.

Hey there! Majority of the time people will purchase 1 quantity of a percentage. However, if you happen to purchase 2 5% pieces that would mean you bought 10% of the song. Does that make sense? You just multiply the numbers. So if you bought four "0.25%" thats the same as buying 1% of the song.
Universal and Warner have bought into Wall Street. Record sales are up 70%...because people want the warm sound that vinyl produces. The record companies are making billions of dollars. They make 98% of the royalties. Being old school this really is bad for us artists. I've seen many friends whose royalties have dropped by 3 quarters. We should be paid properly. Streaming needs to fix the amount of royalties. The pay rate is god awful...but you are too young to know how bad this is.
