- When you want to compare in English - job offers, mobile phone plans, gym memberships, online courses, or skin care products - linking words can help you highlight the similarities.
Of course, when making comparisons in English, you can use comparative and superlative forms such as
- Better
- Faster
- Cheaper
- More support
- More beautiful
However, you can also structure elegant sentences to compare in English using linking words. For example:
- Likewise
- As ... as
- As well as
- Same as
- Similarly
And more. These words simplify how to compare things in English.
Linking words are words or phrases that connect one part of a sentence to another. In other words, they build a bridge from one idea, one sentence, to another.
When you use these bridges in your speech, they create a logical connection. An easy transition. Even better, they improve the flow and clarity of your speech.
In daily life and at work, we compare similarities among choices to help us make better decisions.
In this Confident English lesson today, you’ll learn 6 ways to compare in English using linking words so you can easily make comparisons in English, share with others, and, if necessary, get them to help you make important decisions.

You are as beautiful as a princess, but above all a great teacher!!!
Teacher Annemarie, in this sentence follows we don't need "as same as". Correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you... "As twin sisters, his wife looks exactly like mine." Appreciate your time.As an adult I still wake up early as same as when I was a teenage! Even he's married now, he's still a pulling person as same as when he was a teenage...He's a type of innovation co-worker as well as challenging... As I recalled I have not ever used the word 'likewise' so far.
Hi there. If I understand the first sentence correctly. You and another person have married twin sisters. Is that right? If so, your sentence is correct.
Let's address this sentence: "As an adult I still wake up early as same as when I was a teenager."
Fix: As an adult, I still wake up _____ early _____ I did when I was a teenager. Which words do you think are missing?
There are similarly of the lyrics rhym in the song 'Let's Get It On' written by Marvin Gaye and 'Thinking out Loud' written by Ed Sheeran, and it turned out it was not copied from the last of the first.
😊
The main concern was sustainability.
Actually I changed to a new position. After few days? It seems more interesting, but as challenging as the previous one. So not time to rest
