That was such a shame, Mattel had been making 6" Batmen for almost 20 years by that point and had made some real bangers over the years, so for their last effort to be that bad was so disappointing.
I personally enjoy the 1st appearance Batman. He uses the hush body just modified and the cloth wired cape on that figure is I think the best cape they’ve done. And the head sculpt is really good to because it has the whole neck as part of the sculpt so it looks like an actual cowl and still articulates
The chest is actually a retooled Knightfall chest where they smoothed out the symbol and changed how the cape functions. It was first used on the battle damaged Knightfall Batman from the Bane two-pack. I think the retooled torso looks thicker just due to the fact it doesnt have the bulky plastic cape on his shoulders making him look like the suit is 2 sizes too big on him.
The cape issue is not really about where it connects, it's the shape they cut it. It's a triangle instead of a half circle. If you review the adam west, you'll notice the same given that that cape goes around the neck (which usually accurate) but they cut it on a triangle too, hence you can't rest it on the shoulders.
It’s funny because the Review where the Mattel Dick Grayson Batman with the stubby ears and the broken torso thrown into the toilet was how I started watching this channel.
I managed to snag the platinum blue version and yeah, this is my favorite Batman Buck, for comic versions of Batman anyway. I hope to see this base body used more going forward. Swap out the belt, gauntlets and head obviously. Really, really enjoy this figure. Can’t wait to get that page puncher Robin to go with him.
@@AnthonysCustoms He is but I've seen him out and about. These platinums are the easiest to find, dude at a toy show weeks ago had one for under retail
@@AnthonysCustomsas others have said.. yes. It is. I have seen him several times now in my one Walmart.. and it’s a Walmart that often gets nothing. So there’s that. I do think with a Knightfall Batman head, lower arms and diaper tho that this would be the perfect Todd Batman. I did take a dremel to mine tho and removed some plastic in his torso to give him a better forward bend. My main issue now is that black suit Knightfall Batman is stupid hard to find after warming the pegs forever. Maybe I’ll get that bullseye Batman or whatever and paint l/use the parts from that.
How perfect for McFarlane to finally give us their most athletic-looking, superhero-proportioned Batman figure when tasked to make a toy out of one of the most doughy, "guy in a Batman suit"-looking incarnations of the character from the comics. Granted he's not exactly hulked out like an Ed McGuinness drawing, but still so much closer to a proper comic book super hero physique. I already have a Batman for my display that I'm happy enough with, but this is probably the first "standard"-looking Batman from McF that I'd be interested in tracking down.
My kitbash plans are the Arkham head with the hush pouch belt for this guy. I've seen a couple options for swaps at the forearm, either the black grey knightfall, but the greys are a little off, or hush black and grey, which the colors match really well but you dont get as nice of gloves.
I'm tempted to swap some parts with the black and gray Knightfall Batman to make this match his look in the Justice League Heroes game/Lego Batman/early 2000s comics. I wish the logo was sculpted though. Also instead of being thrown into the toilet like with the Mattel one, this would gently be placed on a shelf.
It’s pretty good. I really like the hands, personally. I’m passing this cuz I’m hoping they’ll make another Hush Batman with this mold. They got the parts ready for that, literally.
My favorite McFarlane Batmen are separated by comic and live action versions. My favorite comic version is either the First Appearance platinum edition or standard Knightfall My favorite live action Batman figure is no question the recent Adam West version, aside from his cape being too long and missing fists, he's perfect
I think they used this base for the Detectice Comics #27 Batman and it's my favorite Batman from McFarlane so far. I love the Old School superhero vibe it brings.
I was pleasantly surprised that the ankles werent the ratcheted spherical nightmares that todd normally implements. Mine still has a weird leg that wont let him stand up straight but I'll boil him. I've been waiting to buy a new batman since being dissapointed in the battinson figure, and I'd say this one has my favorite look.
I for one am glad this figure not more slender, because this way he can somewhat dub as a Bruce Wayne Batman as well. Gauntlets and belt aside, this color scheme and overall costume really is representative of "classic Batman" and shouldn't be held hostage by a temporary version of Batman.
I think the head sculpt nails Quitely's artwork and if I wasn't penny pinching on figures at the moment I would get this and the new Damien Robin as I liked that brief run of comics.
Great review and this one is pretty good. I still like the blue/grey nightfall Batman the most but still think the head is a bit small while this one is a bit too big
To be fair, couldn't possibly get worse than the Croc wave one from the Mattel days, lol..to think I bought that as my first Batman figure. I returned it shortly after xD
I really like 1st appearance and gray and black Knightfall Batman. I also really like the rebirth Batman buck. Especially that blue one from the digital wave
Having read Black Mirror where Dick appears as Batman, you are right about the cape: it is constantly above his shoulders including in action drawings. That's the next step. And because he is a Flying Grayson, I would expect him to have the best articulation as possible.
Anthony, will you review the Fondjoy BvS Batfleck figure? Apparently, it has really good sculpt and articulation, Mafex-like quality and better screen accuracy.
I took a really long break from dc multiverse figures but this figure is the one that broke that dry spell for me I was pretty disappointed when I saw the cape out of box, BUT overall it’s not bad at all it’s just one of those figures you just have to have in person to really make your option on. Great review Anthony!

I pre ordered right when they went up within 5 min and am still waiting im getting really impatient
The best Batman they did, was knightfall Batman (regular not battle damaged). I think this figure is mostly knightfall bats with some new parts. I really hope they do a year 2 Batman on this body. I think that could be pretty cool.
After 5 million various releases across the “Multiverse” line it’s crazy that this is the first and only Batman figure so far. You’d think they would’ve done more.
Im wondering if maybe the Fondjoy BVS Batman cape is the same material you’re talking about. I like it and it has wire and its cloth but it feels stiffish to me and I’m wondering also, are we getting a review of that ever?! Also, agreed. This looks like the best Batman body. Buuuut I’m gonna pass cause of the head sculpt and those knuckle dusters. I’ll wait until they refuse this body mold for another one

Anthony, I dunno if you like My Hero Academia, but the Jazwares Izuku figure is actually pretty damn good considering it's only 20 bucks. His joints are a bit tighter than I'd like them to be, but he's still solid. I mean compared to what you get from your basic Marvel Legends it's a pretty stark difference.

- the ugly head
- the fact that cannot lean forward
- the fact that can't keep even at 90 degrees
- the fact that he doesn't have any leg swivel
- bad accessories
- bad ankles

yeah too many defects for me to be a 9 or 8 i have to say that doesn't look awful but i wouldn't say that looks good either and he doesn't even pose that well "more than acceptable but not quite good" for me the good things are there but they have to be that tiny bit better to fully work and be actually GOOD or even excellent it doesn't really take much for mcfarlane to do such i have to still ask them why they went so downhill since the fortnite line and the mk11 spawn
i cannot believe that after years that is still (arguably) the peak of the line
Constant source of frustration to me that the figure cannot replicate what’s on the card, as it’s supposedly the source material.
I like the Detective Comics Batman a lot.
You could mod the figure slightly for more ab crunch. I get more out of figures I can mod and improve with a bit of paint or a wash.
The audacity when you get a free figure
