The most Philly thing possible: being the most moral person in a situation because you have a better reason than everyone else for the guy you're gang beating.
Charlie obsessively handing Dennis papers for a long while before he points it out is one of those gags you only get to appreciate on a rewatch. The background acting is so good in Sunny. Just look at Frank in any scene, picking his ears and stuff haha
Paying attention to the other characters when someone else is talking, you will sometimes see them start to smile or cover their face/look away because someone is being too funny.
I've never considered it before, but I think Eric is totally right that if they had just said that they got locked in a linen closet for 6 days by accident, the judge probably would have accepted that lol.
Fun Fact: The REAL reason they purposely kept calling it the “Oliday Inn” because they couldn’t get permission from the real Holiday Inn to use their name. Nor could they get permission from MLB to use the name of the Philly Fanatic.
Chase Utley played for PHI from 2003-2014. The world series game from this episode was from October 2008. That gives about a five year period for Mac to have developed his obsession with Chase Utley.
I've lived a stones throw from the Philly stadiums my whole life and the tunnel, from the stadium to the Holiday Inn, is a legit urban legend; people talked about it all the time when certain teams were in town (Cowboys, Giants, and Braves especially)
They had legal issues filming this one, including not being allowed to say Holiday Inn. I never noticed until they mentioned it on the podcast but you guys picked up really quickly that they were saying "oliday Inn". The also had to change the Philly Fanatic's name to the Philly Frenetic.
i love the scene with frank mac and dee all gagging because it shows just why danny devito is as amazing as he is, the man always fully commits above and beyond everyone else
The Oliday inn and, the Philly “Frenetic”, will forever be my favourite, we had to change the names because of copyright situation on the show😂😂😂😂 Also PATRICIA BELCHER❤❤❤❤
Talking about sneaking in, me and friends actually scaled the fence outside the stadium back in '07 the year before they won it all. We have pictures of my friend writing i love Shane Victorino in lipstick in the dugout 😅 thinking back i have no idea who's idea that was or how we weren't arrested 🤦♂️
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these guys might be the only reactors so far who've not just psychoanalyzed Mac's letter but also are actually unpacking the serious psychological issues within the Gang. Not that it excuses their shittiness, obviously, but Rob, Charlie, Glenn, and the other writers have all taken great care to show at least a somewhat plausible explanation as to why the Gang are the way they are, and I'm glad these guys pick up on that.
This is the episode that introduced me to the show. I'm from Pennsylvania and a friend of mine told me to check this episode out and I immediately started from the beginning after.
5:25 it actually isn't their "accents" it was just that the show wasn't allowed to say Holiday Inn, they also weren't allowed to say "Philly Fanatic" so they changed it to Franetic, they have a god at the very end but it wasn't accents. It was just them doing legal work arounds
This is the first time ive seen just how long that Ass kicking Charlie got went on for with it being seen in the background 😂 when Mac/Frank and Dee return. Can we finally confirm Calvin as the Sheriff of Blind wave? As in he thinks he knows everything and always has an answer to a Rhetorical Question.
The 2008 World Series game 5 was a home game that got rain delayed five innings in and was continued 3 nights later with them winning. It was an amazing time to be in Philly!! Go PHILS ❤❤❤
They mentioned in the podcast that they were super happy with how the stadium looked in the background in the final cut because it was completely filled in post
what would have made this even funnier, was if Charlie had picked up the tickets before going to the bar and he just forgot about it so he had them in his pocket the whole time and realize after coming out of the linen room after the 6 days
As a security guard that has worked at many a hotel can i assure you that i have never seen a door that locks from the outside, or both sides. If your inside any closet you can just leave 😅
Love this episode. Especially love Kaitlin Olson in this one. Her delivery through the entire episode always gets me, particularly when she's reading Mac's letter. 😆 Geez... 10:07 Calvin's laugh sounds like what you'd hear in a nightmare where you're running through a deserted city at night, being chased by a deranged, unstoppable, psycho-killer with a knife. 😆😂😁
You're thinking far too hard about the dead people they find in thr tunnel. As Dennis explains, that part didn't happen. He just threw it in because the judge was losing focus.
As a lifelong Philly sports fan, the tunnel isn't actually a thing. We did have a holding cell and a judge for rowdy fans in our old stadium that the Eagles and Phillies shared, but the tunnel is just made up for the show.
I can tell you this about the Phillies: they lost their most recent trip to the World Series! Wanna know who didn’t lose in their most recent visit? My 2021 Braves baby!

Do you guys have X-Men 97 on your watchlist?
The “is that a hate crime?“ guys were also in episode 4 of season 1 and chased mac when he accidentally punched his transgender girlfriend
lol i didnt realize that
Yeah, they are Rob's friends from Philly.
Disappointing that they don't appear in season 12
I had no idea 😂

It's hilarious Chase Utley responded to Mac's letter in a mailbag segment for a MLB produced tv show.
A few years ago they actually had a catch during a Phillies game, I was there it was amazing 😅
It was his retirement game and Chase threw out the first pitch. And Mac was the catcher. (They’re good friends in real life now)
I've never considered it before, but I think Eric is totally right that if they had just said that they got locked in a linen closet for 6 days by accident, the judge probably would have accepted that lol.

Wrong. He does, at the end, say Fanatic. It's all a joke. The accent is the whole thing.
@@xDarthSTYXx watch the podcast episode, they actually said that they couldn’t say either of those things.

Mac’s letter to Chase Utley, and the fact that he mouths it while Dee is reading it. Actually one of my favorite moments from the episode 😂
Kaitlyn Olson's delivery of "oh shit, there's stickers" in the same scene cracks me up too
They had legal issues filming this one, including not being allowed to say Holiday Inn. I never noticed until they mentioned it on the podcast but you guys picked up really quickly that they were saying "oliday Inn". The also had to change the Philly Fanatic's name to the Philly Frenetic.

That rain delay game is when i broke my hand, so during the parade i can always pick myself out by looking for the guy with a cast on his hand 😂
Frank totally just dragged the spool of hose straight in they did not monitor at all
Best parts when Charlie kept handing Dennis papers

Mac definitively wrote the letter as an adult, as Rob is actually a year older than Chase Utley XD

Charlie throwing Dennis under the car, frank laid down in fume apartment and mac letter is pure gold.
7:50 Aaron already at the point of "defending" the gang 😂that's how you know he's really locked into this show now
This is the episode that introduced me to the show. I'm from Pennsylvania and a friend of mine told me to check this episode out and I immediately started from the beginning after.
😂😂 I love it when Calvin goes into his "That's not how that works" rants.

The part during the trial where Charlie keeps trying to hand Dennis some papers, was not scripted and Glenn almost lost it in that scene.
Thanks to Eric, Calvin and Aaron! 🌞
Gentlemen, The Next Episode is Peak Sunny. Can't Wait 😅😂
The Trashman Cometh!

And the knives. Totally seems like something Mac would do.
They had to say Olliday Inn instead of Holiday Inn to avoid lawsuits (they said this in the podcast) also, same with philly fanatic
i started watching your reactions to always sunny maybe like a month ago and now im finally caught up watching these weekly!

The Sunny Crew ups the ante again! This baseball episode is fkn hilarious! 😂😂😂 Fun reaction as usual Wave Crew!
Glad you guys find Frank passed out on the floor as hilarious as I do 😆
The fact that Dennis added the dungeon and the gang just went along with it screaming, is so funny.
23:26 Watch the podcast for this episode Eric.
They mentioned in the podcast that they were super happy with how the stadium looked in the background in the final cut because it was completely filled in post
I was waiting for this reaction, it's one of my favorite episodes. :)
There is just no question when Calvin thinks something is genuinely funny.
He has a great laugh!
This and The Great Recession are the biggest reasons why this is the best season.
what would have made this even funnier, was if Charlie had picked up the tickets before going to the bar and he just forgot about it so he had them in his pocket the whole time and realize after coming out of the linen room after the 6 days

1:25 no Aaron, sports fans are (bizarrely) just as likely to riot when their team wins as when they lose
Should do the blooper reel after each season
Oh shit there's stickers!
They did really win the world series that year, to my chagrin as a Nats fan. It was the last time they won it.
One of my many favorite episodes :>
In Frank’s world road rash is an STD.
Calvin’s laugh tho
10:07 Like a deranged person! 😆😆😂
Short-hand.She’s getting the jist.
14:56 that part always cracks me up
“There’s no one good in Philadelphia” would have made an excellent alternate title for the show, if a bit less tongue in cheek.
1:30 Phillies last won the American series in 2008, Calvin
2008 was the year this is based on, and yes, we went crazy when they won. Before that, it was 1980. They also lost the WS in 2009 and 2022.
Ben the soldier is a good dude in Philly!
They go crazy when they win or lose.
I want that X Wing jacket. Link please??????
In 2008 that's why they made this episode
Due to copyright issues they couldn't say Phillies...

This way the flow of the show continues and we can still have opinions about small details that would otherwise be forgotten
