I love this episode. The writing, acting, and cinematography are all top-notch, plus I'm a sucker for film noir spoofs. I'm glad to see you guys enjoyed it too, the episode is a bit hit-or-miss with fans.
Episodes like these are really just like basically them showing off how talented they are. They could literally make any genre and would nail it. When they decide to end Sunny I would love for them to at least write/direct a movie or two together.
When season 8 was coming out people were complaining that Sunny was dead. I remember hating season 11 until I saw it again. I think its better to just ignore that stuff. Each time I see the newer seasons the more I like them and the more I see them as regular old Sunny
Much like The Gang Turns Black (another episode that experiments with the format) this is a pretty divisive episode. Some people (me included) love it, others hate it. Can't deny the craftsmanship though. Also, this is the only episode that is never explained. We don't know if this is a fantasy or a dream or a movie the gang made (unlikely because it's way too competently made and there's no way the Waitress would agree with doing this)
I see it as something the gang actually did but for some reason Charlie was on a film noir kick and he decided to make himself the main character in one. Like this is his idea of what happened but everyone else would tell it differently. Just realized that is the plot of The Gang Saves the Day, but with that realization my theory makes even more sense.
Classic episode, great reaction! Cricket regarding his committed work running his feces covered hands through bowls filled with cherry... Cricks -Well, It's an honest living. Charlie -Not really...😂 Just a fun, quick and informative exchange.

Is this a highlight episode of this series? No way. Is it a highlight episode for this season? Id say so. As far as the rest of the series, I'm most looking forward to you guys getting to 14x9 and the last 4 episodes of season 15.

agreed! I didn't look at any opinions until finishing the series myself and was kinda shocked by the response of some seasons/episodes. loved the show all the way through. definitely have my neutral eps and faves tho.
The show started going downhill for me when I started watching their podcast. I have a hard time not seeing the person behind the actors. Glenn and Rob are completely immersed in Hollywood Douche culture; pretentious, arrogant and way less funny than they think. Rob, particularly, is a massive coward when it comes to censorship. Charlie Day on the other hand sounded like a normal funny guy. Charlie = "Funny is funny." Rob & Glenn = "Funny is funny... until feelings are hurt."
@@mikeq4917 oh well they have to play the game or they get cancelled. This was they may have a chance to grow the balls back again after the pc storm has passed

This one has brilliant dialogue. The way they incorporated the Sunny side into that style was brilliant
Almost as good as Dead men wear Plaid 😛

The title of the episode is a play on words for the 1946 black-and-white film The Postman Always Rings Twice.

I didn’t love this season on my initial watch, but I’ve found myself rewatching it a lot! Especially this episode
the "it's an honest living" line gets me so good every time... maybe i should consider a career in cherry fecefication
Dee’s face when she turns in the bed is Amazing!!!🤣

I like this one, its very unique
Yeeeeahhhh!! My favourite of S14!!
Glad you enjoy it guys, there are some good episodes ahead, just keep going. And remember to mop twice.
I thought it was funny how everything looks 1940s-50s, aside from the big 1990s computer monitor on the desk in the bar’s office at the beginning.
Off the record, on the QT, and very hush hush... Man LA Confidential is my favorite movie. Such a great film.
My second favorite episode
I have enjoyed every episode of sunny to the end of 16

This episode gets a lot of hate, but I think it's brilliant. Glad you guys liked it! "Very goonish.."
Great episode. The old noir private eye shows with a Sunny twist.
You're giving off big 'goon' vibes, Dee.
Very goonish.
15 and 16 are 8 episodes each
I love this episode!!❤❤
Hope you had a good 4th of July…rock, flag and eagle right Charlie?
Pretty sure it was just another Thursday in the ol' Down Unda.

I appreciated this episode much more than I laughed. I love noir stuff so it very much hit a spot for me I just didn’t laugh particularly hard

As a film noir nut I do love this episode even if it is a bit ham fisted (most actual noir films are much darker in tone) but still lots of fun.
