I feel like his unique voice is also the reason why he doesn't get as many VA roles. He kinda needs to be perfect for the role, otherwise it sounds off. Iroh, for example, sounds a little too...fresh.
"Why would Zuko's son call his child after Iroh? He probably never met him" hey now, Iroh was in great shape by the end of the last Airbender. Surely he stuck around to be the greatest great-uncle around!
I am still just so happy that you guys decided to start Korra sooner than expected, it brings joy to my life 😊 and it seems like you’re really enjoying it!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the journey!
The romance stuff used to seem a bit odd to me in this show, but honestly reflecting on it, I think a lot of people probably had awkward relationship drama within their teen friend groups that is not too dissimilar from that depicted in the show.
In my honest opinion, the element of “romance“ in the original show wasn’t all that much better outside of maybe Sokka and Suki (and they slightly that’s the extent for Zuko and Mai)
Had the same reaction towards the romance when I first watched the series back when it was released, although over time I have learned to accept it as simply "teens making terrible decisions". We've all made decisions when we were younger that when looking back now were so obviously stupid/irrational, It's all part of growing up. After watching the whole show, I now find it funny instead of feeling irritated when rewatching these moments. 😃
I like to watch shonens, and romance drama is barely touched inside those, so I tend to really appreciate any plot that has romance, even if it's "stupid decisions" I tend to always enjoy a good soap opera
I don't think Ange is fully appreciating how more social the show is in TLOK. The other's opinion is far more important, being it in society, family, friend group or whatever. This is pretty much the maturity direction the directors went with in respect to ATLA.
While I understand your view on the romance - keep in mind Korra is just 17, Asami and Mako are 18 and Bolin is 16. I personally know people who had messed up romances like that in their late teens and ended up resolving it and staying friends. I also know cases that didn't work out, but especially teen romances can work themselves out as long as there is a strong friendship element involved too. I actually know a person who was married, the marriage ended and the guy married a good friend of his previous wife and the two women remained friends, the guy actually stayed good friends with his ex. So, this is messy, but not unbelievable. Now, did they need the romance? Maybe yes, a bit at least. It would be less realistic if there wasn't some sort of romance going on, but I don't know if the triangle was needed. That might also have to do with the audience. This show had a large mid to late teen audience, and based on my 4 daughters when they were at that age, this sort of thing in a story seems to have a certain appeal, although I think that fades by the mid 20s or sooner. It didn't bother me too much, my wife was not a fan of the romance and she had troubles with Mako in particular, but the story, overall, is strong enough to get through the romance.
The romance tends to be one of the most common criticisms of the early seasons. Romance in itself isn't a problem, but the way they handle it makes it so... icky 😂
I appreciate that you guys can acknowledge the weak points of the show and still enjoy other parts, there is so much black and white thinking in the community surrounding LOK where you are expected to either absolutely hate it or think its the best thing ever. Big respect!
13:43 You say do away with - the writers hear double down on. And there's an easy and pretty much non-spoilery answer for why Zuko's grandson is named Iroh: he didn't have any sons so the name went to the first boy born to a daughter.
Just remember. These characters are heroes, they are better people. And that thing you are seeing as unrealistic as it seems in teens, is called emotional maturity, something many adults lack as it's very evident here.
“The kids got IBS” LMAOO yall cracked me up this episode. This season romance is def shaky…but honestly it all comes together very nicely in the last season, for me at least.
I know a lot of people shit on Pema for stealing Tenzin away but honestly that relantionship was doomed, Lin didn’t want to have kids and Tenzin probably felt that he needed to have them to continue the airbenders, so I don’t think that was something that they could have compromised over. When Pema declared herself to Tenzin he was already growing apart from Lin. So yeah technically she did steal him away but he would have left Lin anyway in the end
Hey it's almost like the romance plotline is based on "teenage decisions..." Speaking as someone working with the "youth," this is incredibly sensible, even by today's standards. The romantic entanglements of high schoolers is unhinged, and can happen in the space of little lunch to big lunch!!! Or last like a whole 3 years.
People always seem to hate on the romance/relationship aspect but like it's real life stuff. Romances in your teens a lot of time is a cluster mess. People hate each other guts and than make up at the drop of a hat.
They’re impulsive and hormonal teenagers. The romance in this show is meant to demonstrate the messy nature of teen romance and show the impacts of improperly regulated impulses and feelings in such relationships. The show accomplishes this well.
I'll be perfectly honest, I am going to LOVE seeing the full reaction to this series if the drama and spice is already this high for the awful ships everywhere. Hahahah
Oh man...the season 2 romance might just kill Angelo😂 Also szn 2 Korra was so annoying to me🤣 like her as a person lmao. She really has a mad character development cause sheesh
It was fantastic, but i wish the pacing was slower, it happened way too quickly 😢. Animation was awesome, just needed more time to let moments breathe imo
I also hate the romance in the show, it not done well and feels very embarrassing, at least in season 1. However in its defense it is very teenage, but I agree it isn't very realistic but it is heightened.
@@Degenerick Which makes it even weirder they tried to throw in an entire love triangle to rush through in a single season. You can see they didn't even have much of an idea, since the Asami character gets abandoned for the rest of the show.
Season 1 was rushed, Season 2 made a complete mess of the lore, but Season 3 and 4 were much better in my opinion and made the show worth watching on a whole.
Watching this reaction too but non Korra related comment: Haikyu Dumpster battle movie is now on netflix! Just wanted Carlie and Ange to know. That's all. 😂
We just watched Iroh’s return over on Patreon for anyone wanting to get ahead to episode 2x10! www.patreon.com/carlie_and_ange
Thanks for watching ❤
Again requesting to react to BUNGO STRAY DOGS ❤
Someday you might notice 😊
You should know... we need Haikyuu.
i love the feeling every time reactors put together that thats dante basco. then the name comes. then it hits🤣
Pema really stole Lin's man, and then had the guts to give her their stinky kid to look after, too 😂
Girlboss move
She is our favourite homewrecker turned homemaker 😂
that's so rude though 😭
@@famillyjewels It is, I love that Pema got more than her "perfect mother" persona in the show.
I completely forgot Lin lost her bending... She was so cool for the time she was in the show
General Iroh is Zuko's Grandson
Dante Basco has such a unique voice, I'm surprised he hasn't voiced more famous characters than just Zuko and Iroh.
He voiced Jake Long in American Dragon which was a show on Disney Channel.
Don't forget Jigme in The Boondocks 😂
I feel like his unique voice is also the reason why he doesn't get as many VA roles. He kinda needs to be perfect for the role, otherwise it sounds off. Iroh, for example, sounds a little too...fresh.
Rufio, from the movie "Hook", would like a word...
@@krisurya and his love interest Rose was voiced by Katara's voice actor 😁
"Why would Zuko's son call his child after Iroh? He probably never met him" hey now, Iroh was in great shape by the end of the last Airbender. Surely he stuck around to be the greatest great-uncle around!
And even if he didnt, zuko would definitely tell his children stories about how awesome iroh was
I am still just so happy that you guys decided to start Korra sooner than expected, it brings joy to my life 😊 and it seems like you’re really enjoying it!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the journey!
love the Lin appreciation

yea for me in both series the point of "romance" is just to help young people see that awkwardness and confusion is totally normal
Lin is such a great character ❤️
Best to just ignore her in Book 2...😶
glad ur fave is Lin🙏🏽
Carlie: "Let's gooo sh*t on them all-OH😨" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m actually kinda teary eyed 🥹 when Zuko grandson is named after his uncle.
General Iroh 😢

This exactly

Yes, for me the problems come in season 2 when they repeat the romance and bad decisions. They could put better scenes instead of those
To be fair, it is the worst part of the show
Lin's the best. The airbender kids are so cute
I don't think Ange is fully appreciating how more social the show is in TLOK. The other's opinion is far more important, being it in society, family, friend group or whatever. This is pretty much the maturity direction the directors went with in respect to ATLA.
I was sorta the same way. I don't mind drama/romance at all, I just didn't think it was one of the shows strengths.
While I understand your view on the romance - keep in mind Korra is just 17, Asami and Mako are 18 and Bolin is 16. Lin running around, Tophing those airships up.

Lin is best girl! That scene makes me tear up every time.

Lin’s sacrifice ALWAYS makes me emotional. Her character means so much to me.
Just remember. These characters are heroes, they are better people.
And that thing you are seeing as unrealistic as it seems in teens, is called emotional maturity, something many adults lack as it's very evident here.
“The kids got IBS” LMAOO yall cracked me up this episode.

This show is so goooood!!
I cried so hard for Lin back then knowing that this is going to be a limited series...

This episode ends with that one-two punch-- Lin loses her bending, and then General Iroh II emerges out of the blue! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Bolin had a crush on a girl he barely knew it really was not that big a deal. Mako basically cheating on asami is what sucks
Iroh II is Zuko’s Grandson
the romance won't get better until season 3 and by get better i mean practically no romance😂
Naga out here with the pawbending, knocking the hell outta these equalists 😆
And season 3 is perfection
3:47 oh just wait till you see the other seasons, the combats in LOK are insane!!!!
"pull it together" lmaoo
Just waiting for the recap episode of Mako's romances. And Lin doing acupuncture lol ♥
HAIKYUU dumpter battle is on crunchyroll
you guys gotta bear with the romance for a bit into season 2 too it’s not great but everything is is fine LMAO
Don't worry, most people I know also hates the romance in season 1 🤣
I'm so mad dude. I was laying with my cat and he is on my pillow near my face and right at 2:42 he farted. Stupid 4D viewing experience.
Hey it's almost like the romance plotline is based on "teenage decisions..."

General iroh is zukos grandson
Just wait for a twist relationship between Azami and her dad and her relationship between she and Mako and the secret of Tenzen

I'm just curious as to whom was Zuko's son??
He meant about time another boy
he is zukos grandson

And thus spoke kishibe ROHAN 😏
Iroh is Zuko's grandson
I always said this The authors did mako dirty
You guys legit went from hating Asami to being outraged on her behalf.
None of your guesses will be worse than what they will actually do with romance in The Legend of Korra, believe me. kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Saying Meelo has IBS is killing me 😭💀
Also, Mako sucks at relationships yes, but please remember he was an orphan on the streets, he hasn’t learned how to properly be in a relationship.
Sorry to be off-topic, but you guys should do a reaction to Haikyu dumpster battle. Since it was released to streaming recently.
will we get 11x12 as one video ?

well yeah cuz they were gonna wrap up the story in one season before season 2 was approved by Nick

We need haikyuu movie reaction right now
Watching this reaction too but non Korra related comment: Haikyu Dumpster battle movie is now on netflix! Just wanted Carlie and Ange to know. That's all. 😂
They’ve watched it and said it goes to Patreon first and we’ll get it like a week after
I loved Lin on S1 too. [SPOILER] I hate they had to ruin her so bad on S2, worst part of the whole series for me.
The love triangle of cringe my days. It makes me cringe so hard every time. I think if they made it a bit more subtle and reserved it would be cool.
Please watch Gurren Lagan! Please ❤️
