Nice knife I really like it
Nice and simple. And works always a good thing. Thanks forcwatching and commenting, it's appriciated.
Thank you for your service. 😊
Great review👍❗ thanks for sharing 💯🏆🔪❤️
Very cool knife. Great series to have. Thanks again my friend
Thanks for another fun and informative video.
The Marbles knives always tended towards a decent quality for an average budget.
Seems that this one is at a great price point, especially for a regular use knife that may go stray.
Then I suppose you’d be ‘missing your Marbles’ - sorry - had to say it :)
Best of luck with it and I always enjoy your videos.
May all your journeys be adventures and your havens safe
True the price point us great. On my budget that wired. I have already lost my 😆. But still got the knives. Thankyou for the supporting. Stay safe
I've only ever used the can openers on Wenger & Victorinox, and they've always worked without any problems at all.
Yep. I have seen the reviews on them and there have been no problems. I once looked at budget multi tools and most failed on the can openers. Budget being the optimal word in that...lol. thanks for watching and the support I appriciate it
That is a great looking knife, George. I love the blade shape and it looks tank solid. A bottle opener is a feature that gets a lot of use, but I don't think cans are as popular as they were during the WWII era, through the 50's and 60's. Many cans have their own opening tabs, and as an EDC, I will use my home can opener as its a faster opener. The screwdriver, however, is a nice feature. Thanks.
I think they kept the can opener because it was tradional and wanted to keep the pattern.thanks for the support
I would estimate that 30-50% of the cans in my pantry still require a can opener. Soups are almost all pull-tab, but most of my canned vegetables and meats like tuna and chicken require a can opener. I find if you buy really large cans, then they almost always require a can opener.
I have an electric and a manual can opener in my house, BUT, I have had a manual opener break on me. It would be a pretty rare thing, but I suppose if the manual opener was broken or lost and I had a power outage, a knife can opener could come in handy. 😄It could definitely come in handy if you're camping and want to add canned veggies to your meal.
👍 true story
It still works fine as a bottle opener, as long as you don't care if it mangles the cap.
I used to have marbles, lost em years ago though
Lol...you and me both. Be safe out there
Ok, you got me again. I went to SMKW and ordered mine, along with what they call the GI knife- sort of a Hawk bill. $6.99 each. Not too bad!
Lol...The review for the hawk bill will be up friday....first. thanks for watching as always.
@@2ndchancegeorge Going to call you "2CG the Enabler" ! Since I found your channel I have taken lots of your reviews to heart. Started fly fishing, bought lots of good stuff for cheap, even named my house. "The Bungalow".
I have some hearing loss and tinnitus and like to sleep with background noise. My background noise of choice is the 2CG channel. I select one of your playlists and just let it run all night 2 or 3 nights a week. Love your channel!
@@gregritchie9375 wow. If l had known that I would have become a influence and got rich 😆. Joking aside I do appriciate the support and if I can help someone sleep, entertain them then that's all I want. I enjoy making videos and sharing my love for the outdoors. As far as what I review it's typically what gets my attention. I am on a budget and figured alot of viewers are in the same boat. I assume you in the US?. What state?. Always wondered where the viewers are from. Unfortunately there is no way to know who comes from where. Maybe I'll ask peeps to leave a comment with there location. That will be interesting. As always I appriciate the support of my efforts. Stay well my friend
@@2ndchancegeorge I am in North Carolina. And yes, I do relate to you.
@@gregritchie9375 nice. NC. lots of outdoors...cool
Looks like a useful knife. I have no problem with China knives. I recently purchased a Buck Canoe made in China. It’s nice too. Walmart has the Buck Canoe with the bone handles.
Yep they cool. I like the marbles stuff. My Walmart ID horrible...lol. thier knifevsection is a mess.. thanks for watching be safe
Thanks George for looking at "sharp and shinys" that regular folks can afford. I have been wondering if you have used a leather strop to refine the edge on those new knives? You don't have to worry so much about the angle you are holding the knife and if you use Green polishing compound on the strop it will really polish that edge and you can use it regularly to touch-up the edge after use.
I don't have an actual strop. I have some leather that I just give a swipe or 2. Maybe time for get one.thanks for the heads up. Time to do some reading 😆 thanks for the support.
That's very interesting George, I hadn't seen that model. Funny that it's marked 'US', as it's clearly based on the British Army 'Burma Knife', introduced towards the end of WW2. I have quite a few of those, (and the Camillus-made GI knives), but might have to pick up one of those Marbles, it's a great pattern :) Interesting that it has a half-stop. Watch the blade on that bail (or shackle), I see so many knives like that with a nicked blade, (or at least a flattened edge)! :D The extended 'web', which forms the screwdriver, is a really old design. Great video, as always, George. I'm off to go and buy one of those! :D Edit - Costs twice as much here, and it's still sold out!
I was impressed with it. One of my favorites now. Thanks watching as always 😊
I was just about to say, that looks more like one of the British 2 piece clasp knives of the same late WWII period. They had one with a marlinspike option too, which I wish this one had.....
@@Andyfromsomewhere The general Army and Navy issue knives of WW2 both had marlin spikes, (like earlier British Army and Navy knives). However, the stainless 'Burma Knife' of the late 1950's had a can-opener, Sheepsfoot blade, extended web screwdriver, but no marlin spike 👍
440A steel
You probably have sa or heard that by now, just thought I'd mentioned it:) Thinking about picking one up myself from SMKW just wanted to see some reviews first. I'm more of a Victorinox gent, but seen this recently and was surprised by the popularity of it.
Yep interestingly was just watching SMKW video of thier top 5 sellers this month...yep on that list. It has alit of history. Thanks for watching always appriciate the support. Be safe
if you're talking about the flathead screw driver located where the blade is Yes I noticed it.
Lol....love this knife. Thanks for watching
Aha, finally the screwdriver makes sense when you said it supposed to hold the knife and give more support because on my marbles knife I actually have two of those on one end and I was wondering who could be so stupid to put two screwdrivers right beside each other on either side of the blade that cannot be used because there's two of them
Lol took me a while to figure it out. Thanks again for the support
👍👍🤠🤠
😆
The ‘GI Jackknife’ is more like the British Army knife. Marbles also makes a modern incarnation of the Mil-K knife, which is pretty good.
Hmmm gonna havevlook at that. Thanks for watching always appriciated 👍
Now if you want those refried beans to be really authentic, add about 2-3 tablespoons of bacon grease and about 1 tsp of spice called Cumin some black pepper and some garlic powder to taste, stir fry all together , throw a coupe of flour tortillas in a dry pan and turn them over as they start to get a little heated up until the tortilla starts getting some brown spots add about 1/4 cup of beans to the tortilla, throw in a slice of bacon and add some cheese, add some cooked eggs and you have a great breakfast, throw a couple of these in your backpack and you are fixed up for all day
Ummmm....earth issues....just saying...lol
Nice video. No need for a Chinese knife buy american!😮 8:09
Thankyou for watching, unfortunately I can't afford the American made knives. Truth be told never had a problem with the china knives. They do what I need em to do. I would and do support USA made everything. Just cannot Safford most. Be safe out there
Works fine as a bottle opener too, but it will mangle that cap, for sure....
I've used can opener on victanox works great.
Yep, never had issues with a Vic. Solid knives. Thanks for watching and be safe 👍
