Judging by her mannerisms, eye contact/focus, and speech she appears to have a sort of mild intellectual disability. I am genuinely serious and not making fun of her or insulting her, it's just so similar to my experiences with peer to peer learning with special needs class in school in the past.

Now I feel better about myself not willing to cook meats (until I learn better cooking) aside from browning hamburger, even though my knowledge from 7th grade FACS years ago is better than this grown adult's. I'm a bit too paranoid about food going bad, especially when it comes down to meats/salmonella/e. coli/ etc

@@foghornchimes as long as you separate your stuff during preparation, and cook it all until the inside is down, you're good! im vegetarian, which means i cant taste test any meat i cook, but i was a nanny for a family who did eat meat and they liked it! with raw meat in a pan, you can cut it even while it's still in the pan and check the colour (if it's all even, you're good to go, if it's still pink somewhere, leave it for longer). with frozen meat in the oven, e.g. chicken nuggets, i always make sure i wash my hands before and after, but you can also cut them open and touch the inside to see if it's hot. if it still feels cold, leave it in longer. i always recommend 170°C minimum in the oven, but less than 190°C so that the outside doesn't turn crispy while the inside is still cold
The fact that this woman is so natural and calm with the complete lack of sanitation and basic hygiene shows that she wasn’t taught any growing up. Her parents had just as poor as her and any siblings or children of hers will be just the same. The most disgusting part of it for me was her blowing her nose then not even washing her hands before continuing.
This is a good reminder to me never to eat at a potluck dinner.

Blowing your nose and then continuing without washing your hands is only bad if you are handling food that other people might have to eat or otherwise use. If you cook it all right away and only for yourself, it's fine. Any viruses or bacteria are gonna be killed in the heat of the stove/oven/whatever, and there should be a negligible amount of... macro-contamination involved. If you're handling a loaf of bread that other people might need to cut pieces off of, however... wash yer frickin' hands then.

This isn't a joke, they have Minnie mouse wallpaper. Any time a British person has disney wallpaper you're done for. Every house I've been to with disney wallpaper doesn't know seasoning exists and only eats frozen food. Not to mention, they act like a vegetable is the plague and that chips (fries), peas and sweetcorn are the only edible vegetables in the world.

I'm so embarrassed for the British and the fact that over half of my ancestors are English. I swear they have the worst pallet in the world. How do you colonize 1/3 of the planet yet have a pallet like a stray dog/8 year old child? I'm just assuming her parents never taught her, she probably had to figure this stuff out from cook books or online recipes that just don't tell you about hygiene (because it's usually considered common sense).
Honestly, I wonder that, too. I can get it in a lot of cases where the parent just didn't teach their kid the necessary skills or they genuinely don't really understand it, but my mum handles food in the exact same way. I've seen her blowing her nose and setting the tissues down on the same section of bench she'll later chop something on, rinse only her fingertips for barely two seconds under the taps after handling meat or using the bathroom, she's given herself food poisoning multiple times, and I am unfortunately quite familiar with the visage of someone eating bacon that's visibly still half-raw and the smell of chicken served onto a plate when it's still pink. But she's been cooking with her parents regularly since she was small enough to need a step-stool up until she moved across the country in her thirties, had a class at her private school specifically dedicated for people to learn how to cook, lectures others on food-safety, and, being the daughter of a SURGEON, knows both how poor food preparation can led to a swift hospital stay and how to have a hygiene routine so thorough that it makes a doctor feel filthy. She's really quite smart, too. It's not like she doesn't have the knowledge or the skillset, she just decides not to use them. And unfortunately handles other folks' food the same way. My siblings and I learned to quietly discard her food when we hit double-digits and realized that she was lying about handling it properly.

In my 40yrs I've never seen someone cook bacon in cooking oil. Bacon releases its own oil from the fat,no need to add oil
This appears to be different bacon. Not sure if England cuts it differently or something, but there's lots of loin still attached to that bacon. It's mostly loin. That does need a bit of cooking oil. A BIT.

I’m a chef who’s worked in kitchens for 17 years and she’s doing everything 100% correctly. I remember month 4 in culinary school we learned how to eat Gardetto rye chips off of a raw chicken

I've never even used oil to cook bacon. It makes enough grease on its own. I've never had a problem, comes out fine. Doesn't stick either. I've even eaten breakfast at friends houses and never seen anyone add oil to cook bacon. I'm genuinely confused.

My friend from college is like this and she took catering classes for 2 years. She stayed round mine one night and I went to post off some letters at the post box round the corner and the kitchen was a disaster zone by the time I got back.
1. She failed to grasp the concept of "boil in the bag" rice. She thought it was bagged for "Portion control"
2. She cooked scrambled egg via the microwave. That alone should be a crime.
3. She poured hot fat down the sink, blocking it completely. Talk about going Super Saiyan. I've never been so pissed at someone in my life.
I used to be a waitress/KP in a restaurant that microwaved the scrambled egg. It was the saddest looking egg breakfast I've ever seen.
Err, I have made scramble eggs and even omelets in the microwave. Difference is, I have used special microwave dishes that are made to cook eggs like that. It is useful for people who cannot use or access a stove for one reason or another. Beat the eggs good, pour in the device, pop in microwave for two minutes, out comes perfect eggs.

@@vjpearce I figured as much. If she still prefers the microwave for cooking there are many decent cheap 'pots' and such for cooking in the microwave. I have one that you can legit make a mini pie perfectly in the microwave. You can let her know about these things. They are cheap but work wonderful. Useful for people in dorms , or other places a stove is not an option.

PS: I forgot the most important reason why she SHOULDN'T cook. She has a habit of picking her nose and eating whatever she digs out. She has been fired so many times after getting kitchen jobs. She isn't even aware she does it. She's beyond hope at this point.

Yeah, but i always keep away from the cheap "house" brands, only canned ones worth buying once in a while are the Unox ones, especially the cocktail sized ones. Considering they are all machine separated (as in carcass pressed) meats, there are far better options available like the "fresh" ones, which comes in plastic trays. Same goes for rookworst, but at least you can build a nice stamppot (with smoked bacon) around that.
Frankfurters on a white bun with some lettuce, pickle, onions and mango chutney mayo are a childhood treat though, and an adult guilty pleasure.

I'm sure you're a great cook, but we really don't need more cooking channels. Although, if you can tell the difference between prosciutto and bacon, you're already better than 90% of cooking channels... so hey, maybe you should. If you do, make it different than the others, somehow. Unique is what succeeds.
It does look to be prosciutto in this case, but I think the UK has a very different definition of bacon, the US idea of bacon is the strips of fatty bacon, while the UK go for those slices. But yeah that's too thin to be sliced bacon anyway.
As for the channel, go for it. For the unique edge go the way of Kay's Cooking, be upfront about being kind of a newbie about it all and just let everyone see the journey unfold, take on some challenges. If it doesn't take off that's okay, you did something most people wouldn't do.
Making a youtube channel and videos for that channel is something a lot of folks want to do but choose not to because of factors like "I won't take off." or "Its too hard." Gotta buckle down and do it, be confident in your abilities, and have some fun with it.

As much as i enjoy this August's usual content.. sometimes, i see people on here that are clearly mentally challenged.. and it genuinely makes me cry, because... I actually struggle with something similar.
I don't quite know how to cook, and avoid it at pretty much all costs.. I can't really cook for myself, and it gives me major anxiety, I'm proud of this woman for at least making the effort.

I know cooking is daunting, but there are a lot of meals that are easy to make and don't take long. TH-cam is your friend. There are plenty of cooking channels that give you step by step instructions and have a variety of meals you can make. There's also recipes online you can search for, like, "quick and easy dinners". Pasta is also an easy one. Boil the pasta and heat up the sauce, throw in some ground meat or diced veggies. There's so many resources at your fingertips, and it just takes a little bit of determination and patience to start, and go at your own pace, and then you'll slowly collect more dishes you can make. I hope you're able to take care of yourself, because having a home cooked meal is a lot better than take out, taste-wise and nutritionally. Good luck and don't give up! And variety is key

I wonder if this lady actually has special needs. The puzzle piece tats made me wonder but then the canned hot dogs made me wonder more because stuff like that is the kind of things you often see in bags that get donated to places like elderly homes and special needs assistance communities from churches and nonprofits. My grandmother lived off of similar things between ssi checks when she was alive and my great aunt lives in an independant living community for those with disabilities and special needs and she has her own kitchen and such fr cooking (when the person is able) too. This kind of gives me vibes like that.

Your hearts in the right place. These other people don't seem to realize what an EXTREME lack of education can do to someone. As someone who was raised on food-stamps and the neighbors leftovers, even REALIZING how unhealthy and negative your choices are can be extremely hard. Even when pointed out. When you're deep enough into a mindset, it becomes incredibly difficult to correct. Equally, she doesn't seem to be all that...bright. Misspellings, slurring - and of course, the kitchen habits. She really does seem like someone that needs some extra help, or at the very least, a present and positive influence in her behavior.

But we were using vinegar until we learned that it won't kill the bacteria that could be on the surfaces, we just use soap for the most part but it's a coated marble top so I don't think the alcohol will soak into it. You might think this is a minor detail, but it can actually make you sick. There's usually some soil on them in those plastic boxes, which is why you should wash them - just to make sure you're not eating dirt and whatever lives in it. Next you need to peel the mushroom head. Not removing its skin is a safe way to get violent black watery diarrhea. Trust me, I've made that mistake once.
Oh, and then the mushrooms need to be heated properly; but tbh at this point I don't even trust this person to check for mold before she uses them. They're most likely not even fresh - I can imagine them being bought a week ago and left unrefrigerated and festering in their plastic box near the stove.
Fresh button mushrooms, that have been cleaned properly, can be eaten raw. There's a fantastic Japanese salad that uses them that way. But I wouldn't trust the mushrooms in the video if I'd seen them getting fried on lava.
