This was really helpful! I really appreciate that you're straight-forward but also didn't cut any corners/leave explanations out. Thank you for helping new designers find their footing :)
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! AWESOME, ASESOME, AWESOME VIDEO!!! After clicking on more than 10 similar videos, all just showing someone clicking with music playing and saying absolutely nothing, I FINALLY came across your video. and I am so glad. You did an awesome job explaining your every move and it was so easy to follow. I am definitely subscribing and going to check out more of your videos. Again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Hey Yunhou. Command+Shift+Left Bracket ( [ ). What I am doing is sending the blurred version of the letters to the back. You can also go to Object>Arrange>Send to Back. But yeah, we want the blurry copy of the letters in the back, and the clean version of the letters in the front.

You're not supposed to be able to. We make a copy of the letters at 2:48 for this reason. To make the effect work, we have to outline the text. This makes the text into vector shapes, instead of live text you are able to edit. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for watching!
This sounds super dumb but I cannot figure out how to copy and drag the text like in the very beginning... is there a different way to do it in the 2022 version?
Hey Sarah! Sorry I'm a little late replying. That is not a dumb question. Sorry I didn't explain it. To copy and drag text like I did, you just need to hold Option key while clicking and dragging the text. If you are on Windows, I believe you hold the Alt key. Hope this helps.
I tried to do this but part of my text was splotchy. I don't know if it's the font I used, Old English? Or how I can correct that. Bummer, but great video! Thanks.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by splotchy. But I'll take a guess at what is going wrong. After converting your text to outlines, highlight all of your shapes, then go to Object > Compound Path > Make. Maybe this will fix your problem. If that doesn't work, you may be working in CMYK mode, or you may need to adjust your gradients slightly. Hard to know without being able to see your process. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for watching!
Hey Alicia, thanks for commenting. Though, I'm not sure what you mean by "set up with all gadgets." I'm on a laptop with a trackpad using Illustrator CC with no plug-ins for this tutorial. You may mean having your workspace set up like mine. I usually go to Windows>Workspace>Illustrator Classic to begin. But you should be able to find any panel I use by looking through Windows>then finding the name of whatever panel I am using. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you need more help. Thanks again for watching.
@@CoolGuyDesigns I just want the chrome color on after effects Or can I make this chrome color on AE?? is it possible or AI offers more options in order to creat this style?
@@emmasharaf131 I'm sure you could recreate this in after effects. I've never tried this, but if you follow the steps and just build it layer by layer, I'm sure you could do it.
I never knew it was THAT easy to get a decent, basic chrome effect. Thanks!!

What if you wanna do a different color on each letter?
You could ungroup the letters and set up your gradient color scheme in each individual letter. Hope this helps!
Thank you!
No problem, Sunil! Thanks for watching.
what's the "option" key you hold down on in windows?? T^T
I'm pretty sure it's the Alt key on windows. But haven't used windows in a long time. What command are you trying to perform?

Sorry new to this, which button is option
On Mac, it's the option key. On Windows, it's probably the Alt key. Hope this helps.

How do I export this exact chrome text style to after effects?
You should be able to import the AI file straight into After Effects. Is that what you're asking?
