So far one of the best PS tutorials I've watched on TH-cam. Under 8 minutes, and great work. I love learning something new and other ways to get the same results quicker than I've been doing
I'm no PS wizard but I had no issue following this video. Thanks for getting straight to the point. Taught me exactly what I need to know to accomplish this effect. I guess those complaining in the comments are just total beginners and hoping for you to hold their hand.
I used to draw these kind of letters back in the 80's with Prisma color pencils. This style was all over on everything, and both pink and purple mix/gradient too. You can even see it in a lot of SNES games as well like F-Zero. But now with photoshop everything is easier faster and cleaner. Thanks for the flashbacks my friend!
@EagerJohnny You're absolutely right. That is an entry level wage... top designers charge clients up to 200K for a total branding design project. It's the entry level positions that get paid hourly. The studio owners don't work hourly. They determine their compensation based on the value of the project.
I've been searching for a tutorial to do this for a few months now. Thank you so much for providing the color codes used on-screen. It took a bit of pause / rewind in some spots so that that I could mimic exactly as you did in the tutorial, and it was well worth it. I'm into my 3rd logo now, and putting a ton more time into it (going on 3 hours creation time). I'm now subscribed, and looking forward to watching your other tutorials as well. Keep up the great work, this was extremely appreciated!
PetiteHam Dear PetiteHam. That comment of me above was, of course, sarcasm. I did pause the video after every step. But still he could have talked a bit less fast so it would have been easier to follow. Hope you have a nice day dipshit.
Brilliant! I will have to re-watch, make notes and take it step-by-step as you are literally at a turbo pace during this tutorial. Awesome though! Can't wait to try it out :)
No stroke OVERPRINT option workaround. When you get to the point where you can no longer follow the instructions for the stroke overprint: 1) Duplicate the "Centre" layer and name the NEW layer anything, e.g. Overlay Stroke. (Make sure it is still above the "Centre" layer but below the "Outline" layer) 2) Remove "Inner Glow" + "Gradient Overlay" + "Outer Glow" effects from the NEW layer but leave the "Stroke" effect on. 3) Now, with the Direct Selection tool and NEW layer selected, change the 'Fill' at the top to transparent. You should now have transparent text with just a line where your first stroke was. 4) Make the "Stroke" on the NEW layer white. 5) Remove the "Stroke" effect from the "Centre" layer. 6) Right click the NEW later and click "Covert to Smart Object". 7) Change the NEW layer's blend mode to "Overlay". Tada! This should have a similar (if not the same) effect as overprint. If ya'll find these instructions to complicated, cause I suck at text instructions, then just let me know and I'll do a video tutorial on just this bit for you guys share the link.
I guess i don't get why you need a work around for this? I have the option on PC, and he is doing the tutorial on MAC. seems it is available on both systems. if you are using a really old version of Photoshop then that might be a thing, but i feel like it has been on here since CS days... but it seems like it would be a good workaround, just an additional layer.
A++ Thank you for preparing this presentation in a concise way that doesn't waste any time. I'm incredibly surprised at just how many comments have been left saying you were too fast. This is a step-by-step tutorial describing 100% of a workflow that will get you a finished & well polished result in a specific style. You know what makes a legitimately bad tutorial? A presenter that goes on and on about nothing in particular, or when they don't speak clearly, or when they say "um" a lot, or if they don't have a script, or if there isn't any clear direction, or when there are parts of a process that are skipped over or when the workflow is described poorly or incorrectly. None of those flaws are present in this video. I am so happy to watch this again and again at my own pace, in my own time, for free, in the comfort of my own home, alt+tabbing back and forward, regularly pausing and rewinding at my own pace until I feel comfortable that I have grasped the level of professionalism on offer from someone who clearly knows what they are talking about. Respect & subscribed
Thank you for such prompt delivery and not wasting your viewers' time. Had no problem pausing if I needed to. Excellent tutorial and a great way to start creating these killer gfx.
9 minute tutorial takes me like an hour. I have this video at the slowest setting and it still goes too fast! Never been this tilted over a SIMPLE tutorial!
You probably forgot right clicking on the layer and selecting "convert to shape". This is an essential step. I forgot it too at first cause he talks so fast I didn't even hear it haha
@@squaredupstudios I just duplicated the layer, rasterized the layer style and then bumped the contrast up really high. It definitely doesn't do it as well as his, but it's better than just skipping it fully.

You have to convert the text to a shape which will create paths for you to fill in. It must be a text layer by the way, not 100 percent on this but I don't think you can convert a smart object into a shape.
After painting the pink under 'Turbo", hold Cntrl+Shift and click the thumbnails on Outline, Center, and Layer 1. Go to 'Select" and click 'Inverse" ( or just hit Shift+Cntrl+I). Hit "delete" on you're keyboard and you're done.
