This channels a mans candy land 😂 I’ve stared working on my own car ever since I found it cuz it gave me the confidence I needed. Now I save $$$$ all the time
It glitched on me one time, I started the car back to back while doing a delivery and the cluster just didn’t turn back on even while I was driving, it just stayed off. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and it came back, but that’s the only “glitch” I’ve had so far! They do regular updates for the software so most glitches get sorted out. I’m sure when they first released the cluster there were a lot more issues, but now it’s pretty solid.
I am a bit hesitant on buying this. Is this a newer version? Past videos of this product, I've seen, vents had to be trimmed to fit the screen. Your video does not show that. Can you clarify?
I’d say go for it! It completely changes the driving experience. I think it might depend on which car you have, but there’s no cutting needed on the e60.
What firmware you’re on I thought they removed the M logo back in September due to legal reasons. I’m on the oldest firmware, because I did not want to lose my M logo.
Yes! It’s very easy. You just download the update file from their website onto a USB drive and plug it into the cluster. Once you plug it in, it automatically senses the USB and installs the update - it takes about 5 minutes!
It shows you the same fuel consumption data as your old gauge cluster. But it allows you to see different parameters that you can’t on the OEM cluster like the oil temp, coolant temp, battery voltage, horse power, torque, max speed, and more!
I couldn’t tell a difference before you mentioned it. But looking back at the side by side comparison in the video, it looks like maybe a quarter inch smaller. Nothing you’re really going to notice, especially since you probably won’t be using the analog theme.
The speed on the gauge cluster is the correct one, I calibrated it using GPS (offset what the computer puts out). The steering wheel is connected via OBD2 so it just reads whatever the computer puts out, there’s no way to offset the speed.
What do you mean by it stays on when the car is off? The screen stays on? Or you can just hear the fans running when the car is off? If it’s the latter, that’s completely normal. If the screen stays on, there is something wrong, it’ll be best to contact ID4Motion to see what they say. As for the updates, you go on the ID4Motion website and go to “firmware” and download the respective files onto a USB drive. Plug the USB into the gauge cluster and it will automatically begin the update when it senses the file.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Yea the motor or fan behind the screen stays on. I'll turn the car completely off, get in it later that day or the next and before putting the key in I can hear the fan running. I ended up putting the stock cluster back in to avoid draining my battery and end up stuck at work in the morning. I also noticed when I started the car the screen will display the digital gauge then go to black
Yeah, same with mine, the fan continues to run sometimes. It hasn’t drained my battery, so I think it’s normal. For the second issue, I’m not sure. It’ll be best to email ID4Motion and see if they have a solution for that. Could just be that it needs a software update.
will the rev increments change based on vin / model? for example bmw 335d is diesel and revs about half as high as the e90 m3. Really cool video btw- thanks for showing how to install!
They don’t make a gauge cluster for your car. The may develop one in the future, but it might be unlikely. You can check on their website to see the cars that they have a cluster for!
@@TheAutoSurgeon Seems a thad bit expensive ID4: $1065 - $1922 depending on what preloaded themes you choose. Or another brand: $400 for something that is practically the same, and "open source" and not locked down to you're cars win. But You might get what you pay for in the end so, solid function and it just keeps working. Great video never the less, enjoyed it.
Yes, but you get what you pay for. This cluster is much more refined and has a much better UI than any other I’ve seen. It’s like the Apple of the gauge cluster world.
@@TheAutoSurgeon In your opinion, not mine for sure. To be honest i didnt see any special about it. To have many possibilities doesnt mean they are good. I didnt like any to be honest. In otherwise, we can buy in Aliexpress a cheap one and being honest i just like one image of the Aliexpress, Speed on top and gears bellow. The rest are so ugly like yours, it seems a toy and not made to a special car. All examples that you have are worst than the original cluster. Calling Apple of the gauge cluster to that, is to laugh for sure. Even trying a joke saying that is ridiculous. Better saying, "apple" overpriced of the world. 👎 Paying 1000 ou 2000 for that not even if i was Elon Musk.
To each their own 🤷. If you end up getting the Chinese one, I'd love to hear about your experience with it. I'm pretty confident it'll be filled with glitchy software or subpar hardware. When it comes to a part as vital as this, flawless operation is crucial. It should work seamlessly without any glitches or crashes for optimal safety. The mention of Apple was in relation to its user-friendly interface, reliability, performance, and quality. I understand if there was any frustration stemming from that comment.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Like I said, I didn't see any special on yours. All examples are not worst comparing with Chinese one. Some Chinese pieces I agree are not good, but in these days forget that. DJI is the most reliable drone and guess what, is Chinese. Xiaomi is the most reliable I'm many things, and guess what... We are in 2024 not in 1980... I bought an Android 11 to my BMW and so far is perfect. Technology is very good and reliable. At the time I heard some guys saying the same as you, but overpriced is overpriced no matter what. With clusters is exactly the same, Chinese ones we can pay 500 and the effect is better than your... 3x less the cost and with possibility to upgrade in future always free...like we do with android using a USB port. And free... And yours just to put colours the cost is bigger... Is funny. But, like I said. Not just the cost, models of display are better looking than yours. That's why they sell a lot and we can see in TH-cam reviews and so on. And guess what, people love it. If I intend to buy, of course no doubts at all. I prefer the Chinese one. Better looking the displays and better deal. My opinion and opinion of the most of the people. Using the expression of Apple on yours doesn't make any sense bro.

Definitely recommending this to my friend for his e46
Crazy bro makes such a huge difference.
The most worth it modification imo
Great DIY!
Amazing thank you for a great video
Been looking to get this cluster
Great thanks bro
Cleannn upgrade
So cool!
Wow I gotta do this too now
Nice set up bro? Where did you get the steering wheel ?
I got it from Aliexpress! I have a video regarding the steering wheel on my channel.
Great intro, does this gauge cluster ever glitch?
It glitched on me one time, I started the car back to back while doing a delivery and the cluster just didn’t turn back on even while I was driving, it just stayed off. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and it came back, but that’s the only “glitch” I’ve had so far! They do regular updates for the software so most glitches get sorted out. How can i purchase one? Like this the ines im seeing are a bit basic
@TheAutoSurgeon
Can you get maps on the cluster, like some modern cars?
No, unfortunately not. Maybe they’ll add a feature like that in the future.
I am a bit hesitant on buying this. Is this a newer version? Past videos of this product, I've seen, vents had to be trimmed to fit the screen. Your video does not show that. Can you clarify?

Thanks! I have an E9x M3@@TheAutoSurgeon
I really want the gauges you use at the 6:45 mark. Do you have the premium or standard version for that gauge style?
You can buy the themes separately on their website! That one is called ‘Speed Rush,’ it’s the only one I really use. It costs about $60 USD
Hello mate, can I ask, where did you get your steering wheel from and how too install. Thanks
There’s another video on my channel you can check out!
I didn’t realize how responsive this scream would be wow
Info on the steering wheel? Or at least the top info lighting. New to bmw as of last week.
I have a full DIY video about the steering wheel on my channel! It has a link to the wheel in the description. Congratulations on your new car!
@@TheAutoSurgeonthank you. Checking it out now
hi bro, where did u bought ur carbon fiber trim, the cic one and ac
I actually made it myself! Carbon fiber skinning.
What firmware you’re on I thought they removed the M logo back in September due to legal reasons. I’m on the oldest firmware, because I did not want to lose my M logo.
Same! I’m on the version that was right before the removal of the M logo.
Is it easy to update the gauge cluster with the USB connector ?
Yes! It’s very easy. You just download the update file from their website onto a USB drive and plug it into the cluster. Once you plug it in, it automatically senses the USB and installs the update - it takes about 5 minutes!
When you say the analog one do you mean the steering wheel ones?
No, I mean the “analog” looking theme! The one at 6:30.
@@TheAutoSurgeon ah yes i see it now
Does this show additional fuel consumption information?
It shows you the same fuel consumption data as your old gauge cluster. But it allows you to see different parameters that you can’t on the OEM cluster like the oil temp, coolant temp, battery voltage, horse power, torque, max speed, and more!
How much smaller are the spedos and tach from the original? It looks like its significantly smaller.
I couldn’t tell a difference before you mentioned it. But looking back at the side by side comparison in the video, it looks like maybe a quarter inch smaller. Nothing you’re really going to notice, especially since you probably won’t be using the analog theme.
Old OEM did do temperature, however its locked behind settings.
Yes, but it’s infinitely better to have oil and coolant temps present at all times. Clicking through menus every time you drive the car gets annoying.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Cant argue with you on that one, when can afford it, im defo upgrading mine.
Shown the information on your steering wheel please
Check out the steering wheel install video on my channel
where did you get the hand wheel ?
Ali Express! Checkout the video on my channel.
The speed on the Steering Wheel doesn't match the Digital Gauge Cluster.
Which one is right?
The speed on the gauge cluster is the correct one, I calibrated it using GPS (offset what the computer puts out). The steering wheel is connected via OBD2 so it just reads whatever the computer puts out, there’s no way to offset the speed.
Thanks for the answer @@TheAutoSurgeon

You can adjust the tachometer completely, the max RPMs and color zones in the settings.
Can this work on a Audi a seven
Will this fit in a 1998 z3?

Yes, of course

BMW would take legal actions, if they didn't remove the M logo.
No😂 they removed it in the new updates. I just never updated it because the M logo makes it look more OEM.
u live in the GTA? area looks familiar lmao
