Okay so is this also possible with with a moon roof??
Yes, absolutely!
I wish I can get u to do my vehicle
sooo… I glued my sunroof shut will I not be able to do this ??
Why’d you do glue it shut
@ cause it doesn’t work lol and when it would rain it would leak sooo yea 😔
@ I been wanting to do this for a while but I hadn’t seen anyone do the sunroof so I didn’t know I had to take the glass out
The leak was probably a clogged sunroof drain. You should try to get the glue off and clean the sunroof drains.
@@TheAutoSurgeon I’ll check it out prob see what’s up thank u for the replies ! Hopefully I can get it open 😂 maybe I’ll try and fix it too so it can open and close again
Lost me at remove windshield visor 😂
How do you fit strips in doors? Its very hard?
It shows in the video!
@@TheAutoSurgeon Did you manage to put them in with your fingers? Because I tried, it didn't really fit.
First use a credit card or something to make sure the gap goes deep enough to put the strip. If it’s deep enough, you need to pry apart the gap by bending the door card and push the strip in, it’s difficult but can be done.
How do you fit strips in doors? Its very hard?
Bro this shit costs 1k wtf
Do I need to code if I put the originals back in?
Yes
@ fuq. Is it possible to do with the Carly OBD Reader?
I’m not too familiar with Carly, however I doubt it would be able to do it. You’d have to use a dedicated scan tool or Ista/Inpa on your computer.
The problem is that these lights can barely bend or move along curves or edges
You’d be surprised, they’re fairly flexible.
@ I just got these lights and I don’t think they’ve bend around corners at all very well, but I have made it work
How much do you charge to install this it was clean in looks great
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don’t do installations.
This is nightmare fuel....
lmao after seeing the video I do not want to do this myself would rather pay to get it done, I was wondering where are you located im trying to get this done by you.
That looks amazing dude!
What size drill bit did you use ??
I’m not sure what the exact size was, i just compared it to the thickness of the strand.
Why didn’t use a voltage regulator? Why did use a 10 Amper fuse. In my opinion the 3 amper fuse was enough. 29 watt/12 volt = 2.416 ~ 3 A
Just wondering what role a voltage regulator play here-the LED motor is designed for 12-16v. But yes, a lower Amp fuse could have been used since the light motor doesn’t pull as much current. However, a 10A fuse is still safe to run with 16 gauge wire.
Why the hell it's glossy? Makes no sense inside a car. And that they try do drain insane amouts of money off you for additional skins is a red flag. This "investment" would only make some kind of sense w/ integrated navigational system.
Yeah, it’s supposed to come with a matte screen protector to reduce the glare. Mine was missing so they resent it and I installed it later. But yes, it’s definitely quite pricey!
Nice and organized
hi, from where can we buy it?
Link in description
I hope that is special high temp hot glue or it’s coming apart on a summer day. I have seen hot glue come apart on door panels to hold in tweeters. Nice install looks great
hold them longer I found bad ones after waiting more than a few minutes after pressurizing
How much is it
Check the link in the description, there are many different kits with varying prices.
That's the best video talking about diagnosing the BMW injector.
Woo this work on a 2008 528Xi? My dash and interior looks identical to this.
Yes, of course!
Hey may I ask what drill bit / needle to use especially when poking holes? I have a friend who poked holes and he pulled the fabric with it ( some fabric ) sticking out from the headliner, and he doesn't know how to remove it 110%...
I just used a regular tiny drill bit. When drilling, you need to make sure it’s on a high speed. But to be honest, if he’s having issues with the fabric pulling, the life of the headliner is probably already reaching its end-the headliner should be reupholstered with suede/alcantara before installing the starlights for best results (I wish I had reupholstered mine too before installing the stars).
@ Gotcha gotcha! So fastest speed, and just go in / out a couple of times to make the hole perfect? The car he made it on is a 2018 so I doubt it's dying tbh... Yeaaah i've seen suede / alcantara, the results are FLUSH!
Yes exactly! The holes don’t need to be perfect, after you’ve installed the stars, use a stiff bristle brush and brush out the headliner-It’ll help conceal any imperfect holes.
Broo 19L/100km is crazy. Is it always that bad?
It’s at 16L/100km rn😭
I was wondering if you can easily remove the lights out of the sunroof in case you planning to sell the car in the future. That’s the only thing that puts me in second thoughts. Congrats for the excellent work btw.
Once they’re installed, there’s no going back 😂. You could, of course, rip them out, but you’d likely have to reupholster the whole headliner due to the holes. Also, if you remove them, the kit will essentially be useless since the fibres are going to be cut and covered in glue.
possible to get 330km ? but in a 525i ???
You can set the top speed on the cluster to whatever you would like to.
omg! thanks man@@TheAutoSurgeon
thank you
lights are fine, app and coding is complete cheeks bad.....wishh it was way better coding//patterns.
What other patterns were you looking for? Not much of a pattern you can do with starlights, I usually just keep it on one setting.
how is your steering wheel called?
There’s a video on my channel regarding the steering wheel!
300 years later and im all done drilling the 9000 holes. Thanks.
I just put my Christmas tree on top of my car and saved a ton of time!
Can this fit a e87?
Yes, they make one for the E87!
I like the way that you laid out the steps before actually beginning. It makes it easier to follow. Excellent video
The way you wired the door lights means it will only get power when the headlights are on correct? I’m trying to make all the ambient lighting turn on at once so wanna figure out what the best way to wire the dash and rest of the car is
Yes, the way I wired it, the door lights only turn on when the headlights are on. If you want them to be on at all times, you need to find a constant 12v supply in the door. This may be hard to find though, you can try tapping into the window motors. If you can’t find anything with a constant 12v source, you’ll have to manually run a wire from the cabin into the door (this is easier than it sounds).
@@TheAutoSurgeon Thank you for the response. I think im gonna run the dash like through the ambient lighting int he cigarette socket like you mentioned and also the ambient lighting on the doors for a more oem look. Thanks again for the tutorial
Will the ambient lights turn on after i unlock the car or do we have to turn on before we get the ambient lights?
Completely depends on how you wire it in. You can make them work either way.
@TheAutoSurgeon so how would you wire them to turn on when you unlock the car? Stock ambient lights turn on when you unlock the car so in my opinion it looks nicer that way.
Hi does it work on the bmw e60 2004?
Yes, should be exactly the same. Just make sure you order a pre LCI steering wheel. The LCI and Pre LCI ones have different mounting mechanisms on the back of the steering wheel.
@ yes, I know they are different, I was talking about the wiring and obd if there is any difference, that's what I was thinking! Thx
Wiring should be identical
Can you see the lights from the outside on the sunroof cover?
Yes, you can. I installed a black fabric cover on top after I realized you could see them through the sunroof.
My kia soul going to love this one
Yo bro am i able to cut the long dashboard light into two? Will it still work? (The long wire with two connector on each side)
Only if you can find a way to attach new 4 wires and the same specific connector to the cut piece. When you cut the strip, it no longer has a connector for power on the cut piece.
@ thanks. I cut it too short yesterday lol and the supplier couldn’t send extras. Do you have any knowledge of where i can find the 110 cm wire. Thanks for ur help.
Do you mean the extension wire that attaches from the right side to left side of the dash? Here’s a link: a.aliexpress.com/_m0H4CcF if you need other replacement parts that Silverholder can’t provide (the actual light strips), you can buy them here: a.aliexpress.com/_mq6Ug4L
I learn too much from two of your videos you deserve a follow 😭
This video is about , a chill guy installing starlight 😂
The app you use for the ambient lighting?
It’s called “Magic Lantern” on the App Store!
Where do you store the projector
Shown in video, in the trunk.
Yeah i saw it right after @@TheAutoSurgeon
I went black to brown red to red with no power why?
Where are you referring to?
@@TheAutoSurgeon at the cigarette lighter i found out it’s the shitty 22 gauge power supply not making good contact to car awful product was your accessory power 22 gauge aswell?
I tapped into the actual + and - for the power to the cigarette lighter. Maybe the 22 gauge wire was for the ambient lighting on the cigarette lighter. Either way, I think it would still allow for enough current to power the control module. Did you test the brown/red and red wires with a multimeter to confirm it had 12v?
@@TheAutoSurgeon I tapped into the same wire as you i’m referring to the ambient lighting main control module mine came with 22 gauge supply i might return and shop a different product it seems the ultra thin wire isn’t feasible
The wire on the ambient lighting kit itself? It’s not too thin at all, the LEDs draw very little current. It’s more than likely where you’re drawing power from, double check with a multimeter.
Finally someone that did the sunroof!
Video on the carbon fiber dash board?
Made all the interior carbon trim myself via a skinning process.
So what wire should I tap in for it to work on auto I only leave my lights on that setting
If you want the lights to turn on automatically at night, tap into any factory ambient lighting for the main control module.
@@TheAutoSurgeonso i tap red to red and black to brown correct ?
First off I must say GREAT Video. I have done this mod to my SUV twice now and you make it look so easy. When I first did it there weren't many videos showing how to do it properly. I did it a second time when the shooting star feature became an option. And what's crazy is that now I am considering doing it again with a much bigger and brighter kit. Some say I am crazy but I refuse to pay someone a ton of money for something I can do myself. You are totally right about keeping it organized. The first time I did it I had wires going everywhere and the reinstalled was horrible.
Question, if I tap into the fuse box I need to know, if I buy the splitter what fuse port do I plug it in ( I know it’s the cigarette port but in the video he had 2 other fuses in there where do I get that or is it just the cigarette port fuse and the star light fuse) can someone just help me out here thanks
Hi, sorry I’m not 100% sure what you mean. Could you rephrase a little? But from what I can understand, you mean on the little paper there were two other fuse numbers? You can plug the fuse tap into any of those fuse numbers. If you mean the two fuses on the actual fuse tap itself, the one fuse is the one we remove to plug the fuse tap in, and the other fuse is a new one you need to buy that’s going to be connected to the starlight kit.
@ right basically what I meant is - so you locate the cigarette port fuse, unplug that fuse, plug the cigarette port fuse into the fuse splitter (the wire that powers the star light) then get another fuse separately for the starlights that connect on to the fuse splitter? If that’s what you done can u tell me what amp fuse u used or wich one i need
Yes, exactly! I used a 10amp fuse, a 7.5amp would work too. Just don’t use a fuse higher than 10amp.
@@TheAutoSurgeon nice one bro
