On a concert last year (Zurich, oct 20) Dan said on stage, that "Can't do without you" is a direct message to the fans, without whom all this madness (tours, etc.) wouldn't happen. That with his first success he was unsure about what to think about beeing that much appreciated, that he couldn't take it and it made him insecure. But now he just has to say thank you for all this.
Therefore I just can understand this video (and the fish) as a allegory on this feelings.

Not really.. Look at Crystal Castles or Vitalic or Chemical Brothers or Royksopp to name a few.
The Realest they're not deep house, vitalic and cc basically do what could easily be loud rock music but with electronics (i like them both especially cc) Chem bros are liked by everyone and royksopp are more euro-dance fanbase but varied

I think this video is about having a dream and then loosing it. Some of us dream big and the process is easier than others. As children we were told to dream about what we wanted to be in life. But what if life takes our dream away......the child in the video reached for the object, then was running beside it, then the object left the child.
