    So I tried to use it on gorilla glue adhesive, and the inside of the gorilla glue tube, crushed under the pressure of the advancing plunger from the siligun. I never got the adhesive to advance from the tube. So it may be that it works for certain manufacturers, caulking and adhesive, but some tubes may be too thick or constructed differently for it to work.

    As someone whom owns and operates a construction company in New York City. I have always sought out the new ground breaking technology that increases overall efficiency, and streamlines a process. I was excited for what appeared to be a "more efficient mousetrap", and purchased about 80 of these for our employees, but unfortunately there are many mechanical oversights on the design of this gadget that render it useless to individuals that require regular and professional use of such a product. For light use homeowners, this product would be acceptable, simply because they are 1. Unaware of better, and more efficient products on the market, and 2. Only require the product for small scale jobs, and wouldn't notice the glaring issues.
    My grievances with this product are as follows:
    1. The material that provides traction and holds the tubes in place to allow for advancing of the tube wears down extremely quickly.
    2. The amount of effort required to keep consistent flow is ridiculous. You are exhausted after barely 1 hour of usage. You pushed back against the "reviews stating there was inadequate force" by dismissing this as user error, though Hilariously I see in your demonstration a very small and pitiful bead you were able to produce, and even the inconsistent bead you ultimately laid down, which basically makes the case for all of the reviews you dismissed.
    3. When attempting to advance the tube, often time as with all caulking applicators, the caulking begins to push out of the back end, but what makes this a unique annoyance with this product, is there is no way to disassemble to clean. The only way to clean is to wipe a much as you can with a wet rag, wrapped around a narrow extension, and woe to anyone that happens to get too much water on this thing, because it will rust the spring and blade almost immediately, and then you might as well use it as a mallet hammer.
    4. Of the 80 that I purchased for my company, about 70 remain, because our guys find this tool as more of a hassle than a help. Then only reason 10 were used was because every know and then we have a newbie, whom thinks they discover the holy grail of caulking, only to realize its the forbidden fruit that one ought not partake of. We keep them around because it's a right of passage...we call it "The Allegory of a Silly Gun" . There is no such thing as a short cut, so u guess it serves that purpose well
    I recommend anyone that wants to piss off their father, or serious contractor in their lives....PLEASE BY ALL MEANS BUY THIS PRODUCT. They will curse at this product, throw it in anger, that long sought passive-aggressive revenge is possible.

      Got a kick out of your detailed critique....and it was spot on. My wife bought me one because she knows I am a sucker to try new and innovative tools when I can. After a few minutes with it, I was rummaging through my shop looking for my old calking gun. It flat out doesn't handle cardboard tubes at all and most of the time it doesn't like the thicker denser products like concrete filler. With Harry Homeowner lightweight tubes and a lightweight product it is OK....but if you are calking more than say a commode or a single bath tub....go get the old guy because this one will flat wear your hand out in short order. I find it handy for getting in tight spaces behind a commode or calking a plumbing job in the wall inside of a vanity where the longer old style gun would be a problem due to its length. I'll keep it....but sure as hell won't buy another.

    Thanks so much for you video. I see on Amazon... alot of people are commenting about the fact... the unit does not do well with cardboard or heavy duty types of tubes, and that the cutter will either not work or bog down. Have you tried any tubes that are cardboard or very thick plastic? Or, have you used just the standard plastic type of caulking type tubes? Thank you so much.

    Bought one last week for a project that required different tubes of material. It absolutely refused to work on any cardboard tube. It simply scrunched up the end of the tube and the blade would cut no more than a half inch of cardboard before jamming. On plastic tubes it worked better but had trouble with thicker material like poly-concrete patch material. Nice tool when it works, but don't throw away your old metal caulk guns

    • @HowYouCanMakeIt
      @HowYouCanMakeIt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @noreenbarnes4483
    @noreenbarnes4483 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    So what you need to do is use this on several tubes. Because I’ve read review after review and what is said over and over is that the pushing mechanism wears out after about 20 uses.
    You also can’t reuse a tube. The cut makes it incredibly difficult to put back in. Once the tube is cut it won’t go back into a regular caulking gun. The tiny bead you got out shows the lousy output of the gun. Makes it seem like you were paid for a positive review.

    • @HowYouCanMakeIt
      @HowYouCanMakeIt  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I like supporting innovation. This isn’t for everyone and if you need to get into small spaces this works however if you caulk all the time and need more features this isn’t the caulk gun to buy or use.

  • @ddzwiedziu
    @ddzwiedziu 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    7:23 do we see plastic pieces from the tube just before the cutting mechanism? I don't seem to see it around 1:00.
    Edit: ok, at 8:00 it's shown.
    Edit2: I'm still wondering why nobody (as far as I've saw) made a traditional caulk gun with a bulpup-style grip. Even the one pneumatic-driven has the whole tube in front of the grip. (edit3: there is another one with a grip mid-length)

    I got it, brand new and a brand new caulk. It works barely. It can not consistently lay down caulk and you can feel as your laying the caulk. Nothing i know can replace the consistency of a real caulk gun. If you need it for tight space, just by a squeeze tube. This product is in my opinion, garbage.

  • @martinb.8681
    @martinb.8681 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Give me a break that's no review it's an advertisement. This yet another attempt to build a better mouse trap but in the end will be a failure. Your hand now has to not only advance the caulk but cut through the plastic encasing the caulk. As the tool ages the blade gets gunked up and more dull and if you're applying a thick heavy caulk the tool will be useless.
    Use the caulk gun best suited to your job. Light weight plastic skeleton gun for typical latex caulks used for weatherization. Go to a heavier high quality metal gun for your silicones.

    • @HowYouCanMakeIt
      @HowYouCanMakeIt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Siligun, does have its limitations, no advertising here just facts. One being thicker caulk like you said but also cardboard tubes it doesn't work well with industrial grade caulk...it is best suited for around the house.

    • @martinb.8681
      @martinb.8681 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just facts that's nonsense it's an infomercial you even say they gave you and sponsored your video.
      I was going to list everything that makes this video bogus but will simply say to people reading this watch the one done by "HouseImprovements". One that included a complete explanation of how the tool works and drawbacks of which there are many. He landed on it being a 7 out of 10 with some utility which is mostly nonsense did establish credibility by listing the negatives.
      Viewers should view these TH-cam reviews with a jaded eye. Reviewers goal is to get products sent to them and to make money off of affiliate links. It's hard to accomplish that if you're being negative on products.
      This product definitely deserves to have numerous negatives highlighted which you clearly did not do.
      I'm looking at all those tools in the background in a serious workshop as well as the tee shirt. Then when I see those nice soft, nicely manicured hands and confession you're not good at caulking something doesn't compute at all.
      Merry Christmas!
