When Labour attack nuclear on the grounds of cost why does nobody point out that they haven't and won't put a cost on what they are proposing with wind and solar? How much are all the solar panels, wind mills, batteries and transmission lines going to cost when we tally it all up? How much will it cost to replace it all every 7 or 8 years?

I have wondered exactly the same thing. I have heard a gov official say in estimates that the total cost would be around $500b and more recently heard estimates of more than $1t. Now driven by profit - we all lose. Cheap power comes from the government owning and regulating our essential services. And the renewable dream is just that, it has a part in the mix for sure and will reduce our carbon footprint but we just dont have the tech yet too pull it off. Please explain to Bowen how to pronounce nuclear. Why do you have Conroy on the programme?😊 Bridget McKenzie works hard.

Are you serious, you never heard of the 'gold rush' in the 1800's the very wealth that built Melbourne. By the middle of the 1850s 40% of the world's gold was produced in Australia. Silver and copper exports in the 1840's built South Australia, Mt Isa mine in the 1920's.
The first coal exported from Australia was 1799. From virtually day one the new colony was dependent on mining export revenue for its survival. Nothing much has changed.
