- The Imperial Japanese Land Navy is BACK! This time, we take the Ka-Chi Boat-Tank to battle for the most ridiculous fun I've had in ages!
The Ka-Chi is a Japanese Tank that can Swim! This amphibious tank was available for Operation Summer Landing and it's honestly one of the best and worst rewards there has ever been!
The Ka-Chi is what you'd define as a volumetric nightmare. The spaced armour from the pontoons makes it really survivable and the cannon is pretty decent for its BR. First introduced at Battle Rating 1.3 this thing now sits at 2.0 where it's a bit more fair!

I'm quite jaded 'bout WT, and quit last year, and while Odd's older vids (1 year+) can feel a bit more depressing/forced, they're still amusing to watch/are enjoyable.

After just about a months worth of encounters with this thing, I can confidently say it’s an absolute sponge of a tank.
You know what’s the worst part about fighting this thing? It’s the fact that if you don’t own it, you don’t have access to its module and armor specs, I didn’t even know there was a 50mm plate as front armor for the thing until now!

Your videos feel like a lot of fun to me. It feels like sometimes you're the only positive war thunder content creator. A lot of other content creators feel very doom and gloom in a lot of their videos so yours reflect how I feel about the game. I play for fun. Whatever tanks I want to play, I play, and sooner or later I unlock random tanks across all the tech trees. You are by far my favorite youtuber not because of your skill (very very high skill) but because of your attitude. Thank you and keep up the amazing work!

A few of the low tier Japanese boats use tank guns.
The Ha-Go boat uses the same gun and heat round as the Chi-Ha.
What was wrong with Japan in WW2 can be condensed into 2 points...
1. They picked 1 too many fights
2. They had an unseasonably hot summer in 1945 that kinda took the fight out of them.

Had a game a few weeks ago at low tiers where one of your squadron bois was on my team, and he was in this thing holding down B on Karelia.
He got 24 bloody kills without dying in it.

Think their the reason their saying it’s not fun is because we’re too used to seeing like 15 kills and 2 nukes a month. It’s amazing, for sure, but often time it’s same gameplay but than you do something incredibly fun like this where it’s halarious to watch. Yknow Odd I think people are just starting to grow further away from warthunder and are instead associating their aversion to the game with content creators. I'll admit I watch a little less these days but thats only because I just cant play warthunder anymore. I'm just not good enough, and therefore I cant relate to the content as much as I used to. I don't think you've changed at all, your still a sweet and cool guy and I hope you don't change your style for some hater who just dont like warthunder anymore. Keep up the sick videos man.

Aaaah, the bane of low tier! I remember this used to be (?) 1.7 at some point and damn EVERYTIME playing against weeaboos was nightmare because of this tank. Then again, using the He 112 A-0 and setting the engine on fire thrice (not hard with the 20mm cannon) and just watching it burn :D

What was wrong with Japan in WWII, i.e. why did they have such crappy armored vehicles? The answer is complicated: 1) They had an insufficient industrial base, lack of natural resources and created fierce competition for priority between the Navy and Army. 2) Because of the latter situation, the Japanese general staff had to very carefully shepherd weapons development and many generals disagreed about the best way to design and utilize AFVs. This was not unlike the internal discussions about armor in many European and American armies in the Pre-War period. 3) While Japan actually grasped the importance of armored warfare immediately after WWI, and during the 1920s and early 1930s, were on the cutting edge of combined arms doctrine, and developed good tanks for the era, by the late-1930s there had been a turnover within the General Staff and more traditionalist generals were in charge of army procurement. They pulled a 180 and changed Japanese armor doctrine to one of infantry support. In 1938, Japan had adequate tanks for the era, but they stopped progressing in their development... 4) As a consequence of this, the development of new models of tanks was not prioritized until it was too late. Moreover, the nature of warfare they envisioned against America, that is a Pacific perimeter, was not conducive to armor warfare. Further, China's primary land enemy, China was a pushover and heavy tanks were not seen as needed. So, in sum, traditionalist infantry generals greatly slowed Japanese AFV development in the crucial 1940-1943 period because they rejected armor driven combined arms theories, were fighting a war they felt did not need large armor formations due to the nature of the enemies they faced and the island campaigns, and, in any event, resources for building a large armor force were not large enough to allow even experimentation without the full support of the Army General Staff.

About Japan's armoured core. They never really developed a real one, as they did not need it. China had hardly any armour of its own, so no need there, and tanks are not that great at island warfare, so no need there. As for the naval guns, japanese invested heavily in their navy and airforce, so naval guns on tracks is the most logical choice.

What separates you from every other WT fukboi is your affinity for mid/low tiers and your CAS ability. My recommendation is to do more combo and some full lineup videos. Remember phlys old combo request series? That's what got me interested in WT 7 years ago. I didn't even play the game, I just watched phly's vids of sometimes good, sometimes meme request combos. It took me 3 years to ever even DL the WT launcher, but I watched phly, slick, and once upon a time (before he became an organic sellout bot) baron every day. I remember the powerhaus. The vast majority of CCs are absolute cringe at CAS, and the ones who are good almost exclusively play top tier (hunter, sylph, etc.) You and Rotor were the only choices streaming, and Rotor never really did YT. That hole isn't t getting filled currently (that's what she said.)
3:45 - I'm grinding low tier Japan right now and I agree - Japanese APHE explosive seems to underperform. That 47mm is on a lot of things, and it seems like half the time it acts like a solid shot (in-game solid shot, not IRL). The 75mm on the Chi-Nu has almost 3x the explosive mass of the 75mm PzGr 39, but nowhere near the destruction. I regularly have to shoot turrets and hulls 2-3 times to get a kill.
